Somewhat weird Adoree’ Jackson still not signed

Eric from BBI : Admin : 7/31/2024 7:45 am
Didn't have a good season last year, but in a league starving for CBs, a little odd that he is still out there.
Seems like one of those situations
mittenedman : 7/31/2024 7:49 am : link
where he’ll be a “rent a starter” for a contender.

If I had to guess, his agent is recommending holding out until someone gets desperate.

It is odd though. I doubt Bowen wants him.
maybe
The Jake : 7/31/2024 7:52 am : link
he is angling to avoid training camp and to see which teams are desperate in September?
Still considers himself a starter
Blue Baas : 7/31/2024 7:52 am : link
He'll wait for a team to lose a starter and leverage a payday. Same age as Logan Ryan when they signed him just days before the season started when Xavier McKinney got hurt.

Yes, but the rest of the league doesn't see it that way unless they need a replacement.

Him not being signed does not mean teams haven't made offers. He can wait until a team gets desperate.
At this point I have to assume

He's waiting for an injury to make some team desperate

This. Weather it's a smart move will be seen but he may want a certain $ amount and assumes at some point due to injury or a team gets desperate he won't move. It may work out but he would the first player to over estimate his value.

How hard is he looking for a job?
pjcas18 : 7/31/2024 8:16 am : link
he's probably in that place where he knows his play is tailing off and he's not going to get another big pay day, and he's been paid almost $50M in his career.

Maybe he's thinking he doesn't need to work anymore.

I thought Gilmore played well for
barens : 7/31/2024 8:19 am : link
the Cowboys to, I'm sure these guys are looking for for bigger deals than what teams are willing to pay.
He
SoZKillA : 7/31/2024 8:38 am : link
looked as if he had no interest in playing last season
Steven Nelson would be the guy to target on that list.
Vin_Cuccs : 7/31/2024 8:39 am : link
He quietly had a very good season last year, and can play both inside and outside.

That’s my guess
I’m sure he’s had offers
Two things may be at work here:
81_Great_Dane : 7/31/2024 8:54 am : link
Yes, he probably wants a better offer than any he may have received so far.

Also, veterans signed before the first game have their salaries guaranteed for the season. Veterans signed after the first game are week-to-week, no guarantees.

He may want a richer deal and teams that might sign him might not want to guarantee that deal. So it’s who blinks first.
He sucks and he’s injury prone
sb from NYT Forum : 7/31/2024 8:59 am : link
It’s not weird at all to me.
Don't expect to see a guy like Xavian Howard signed any
LauderdaleMatty : 7/31/2024 9:07 am : link
Time soon and he has some legal stuff that IMO most teams want no part of
while everyone is likely right
Giantsfan79 : 7/31/2024 9:19 am : link
And he'll sign during camp or maybe after week 1 to keep his contract week to week.

But I think it's important for us to realize that when you get beyond the sound bites about how everyone is a good player, one of the true ways a teams players get evaluated is how quickly other teams go after them in free agency. And so the rest of the league is telling us they don't think highly of Jackson. Perhaps he was weaker last year than we fans realize on tape
Never saw it with him
OBJ_AllDay : 7/31/2024 9:27 am : link
He was certainly no DRC or Janoris Jenkins who I consider both hits as FA signings. Jackson kind of stunk.
Delusional
Shecky : 7/31/2024 9:56 am : link
I still see myself as a starter

Rationalizes it by saying, mill wait till someone gets hurt, and a team is desperate for a starter…

You know what they call that? A BACKUP 🤣
Unless I'm mistaken if you're not on the 53 man roster
arniefez : 7/31/2024 10:01 am : link
to start the season and sign after game one, your contract is not guaranteed for the the year. It will be interesting to see if the guys on that list sign in a few weeks for that reason. I think all of them are a pulled hamstring waiting to happen though if they come in right before the season.

Maybe Adoree doesn't want to come back. Maybe they watched Adoree play last year and don't think he can play to the level they need.
It's not really a shocker. He didn't have a good season. Maybe they do circle back, but I don't expect it to happen. Think he'll end up elsewhere.

The Titans cut Jackson shortly after Bowen was hired as DC in 2021.
I’m sure he wants a decent contract
JoeyBigBlue : 7/31/2024 1:01 pm : link
He’ll wait for a starter to get hurt to maximize his leverage and get a decent pay day.
Didn't he have a good record with penalties?
Reese's Pieces : 8/6/2024 9:21 pm : link
Only flagged once or twice for pass interference?

I think a lot of veterans don't play as hard as they could when stuck on losing teams going nowhere. Maybe that's why a few too many former Giants did well with their new teams.
CBs
Archer : 8/6/2024 10:12 pm : link
In Bowen's system, the corners must be good tacklers.
He relies on the CBs to press the line and contain.

Whatever CB the Giants play he has to be able to tackle.
