AAA-
Acuna 1-4, BB, SB, K (July OPS .555, he still may be up late in the season to provide speed/defense but his window for coming up and playing regularly this season has probably closed. He has to hit better)
Baty
1-4, 2b (Like much of the Mets system July was not a great month for Baty. It seems more likely than not he's going to be with another organization in 2025, maybe as part of a potential Alcantara deal? We shall see)
Ritter 1-4, HR (21st), 3 k's (he's now 3rd in the IL in HR's)
JBJ 1-4, HR, BB, K (also threw out a runner at the plate)
Jarvis 2 innings 6 hits 4 runs 2 walks 2 k's
J. Ramirez (skipped AA) 1 inning 1 hit 0 runs 1 walk 2 k's (FB up to 94)
AA
Ramirez 0-4 (just an atrocious season for Ramirez. Extremely high odds he's either dealt for a low level minor leaguer that doesn't need a 40 man spot, or is DFA'ed)
Rudick 2-4, 2B, K
Clifford 0-4, K (5 for his last 38. Still finishes July with an .873 OPS for the month, 30 k's over 83 ab's obviously is too many)
Consuegra 3-4, HR, K
Suarez 6 innings 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 9 k's (took a perfect game into the 6th. He's a 6-year FA after the season so unless the Mets add him to the 40, he can sign explore opportunities with other teams)
SRF 1 perfect 3 k's
BK (game 1)
Morabito 1-4, 2 k's
Reimer 1-3
Suero 2-4, K (one of the best pure athletes in the organization)
Wenninger 4 innings 4 hits 2 runs 3 walks 5 k's (I suspect he ends up in the bullpen, but a quietly having a very solid season, his CU is a real weapon)
Herrera 1.1 innings 1 hit 0 runs 1 walk 2 k's (Really nice pickup on a minor league deal. He's made 12 appearances and has only allowed 1 ER while striking out 27 over 25.1 innings)
BK (game 2)
Morabito 1-4, 2 SB, K
Suero 1-3, BB, 2 SB
Tong 5.1 innings 6 hits 2 runs 1 walk 10 k's
St. Lucie
Baro 2-4, 2b (Very solid season for Baro, certainly one to watch going forward)
Ewing 1-5, 3B, 2 k's (has struggled post promotion to St. Lucie but has more power than his frame would suggest and remains one of the more intriguing young hitters in the system)
Hernandez 3-5 (one of the mst underrated performers in the system, questions regarding can he remain a C impact his projection, but could be a bat first MLB backup C who also sees some time at 1b)
Houck 1-4, HR, BB, 2 k’s , 3 errors(Very disappointing season for the Mets 2023 1st round pick)
Henriquez 1-5 (Not much power but this kid can HIT. If he can add some more strength he has a shot to be a big league utility player)
-As for Hernandez, yeah Stephenson is probably your highest end outcome but the profile isn't dissimilar. He has an advanced eye (good walk rate, solid k%), not a ton of power yet (not yet 21) and the glove comes with questions. If he can remain behind the plate he's one to follow. He's probably not a big leaguer if he can't.

Baty (and a pitcher like Butto/Peterson) for Luzardo has been a wet dream of mine for a while, lol.
Ronny Mauricio might have value to the Marlins, if and when he's healthy. Luis Acuna might also be of interest, Miami is always marketing the Latin players, the 'Calle Ocho' thing.
Sandy Alcantara took Luzardo under his wing (even before Sandy got hurt). Trading Luzardo might upset the balance down there.

Jake Burger has posted 0.3 fWAR in 2024 with a 93 wRC+, -4 DRS, -5 OAA and is 29 in April (and is arbitration eligible). I highly, highly doubt they are "happy" with Jake Burger.
33rd/37 in DRS, 34/37 in OAA, yeah he's probably not going to be in Miami next season and if he is, likely mostly DHing.

Absolutely glad they're doing something like this. Why can't the FCL season be longer anyways.
That's a great name for a baseball player. Not so good for a cornerback.
That's fair enough but they play games in AZ in all the other leagues and other hot locations. Not arguing with you by the way just how they are running it now.
Teams that fielded one complex league team in addition to their four full-season clubs could cover those innings, even if they had a number of pitchers who were not pitching, by utilizing the extra roster spots within the previous 180-player roster limits. With tighter rosters, having a group of pitchers who count to the 165-player roster limits who weren’t getting into games would potentially cause problems.
The change to an earlier schedule may provide one additional benefit, especially for players in Arizona. The ACL earned the nickname “Fire League” because it is played in one of the hottest locales in the U.S. during the hottest time of the year. The new schedule will replace games in August, where the average high in Phoenix is 104 degrees Fahrenheit with games in May, where the average high is 95 degrees."
@mikemayer22
When David Stearns was asked about players in Triple-A who could potentially help the Mets down the stretch:
The first name he mentioned was Brett Baty, and also said there's a couple of arms who could help as well.
It's encouraging to see the Pitching Depth in the organization these days. It's several levels deep. Keep developing !!
Scouts were high on Brazobán (2.84 ERA, 31 2/3 innings), whom the Mets acquired from the Miami Marlins for minor-league utility infielder Wilfredo Lara. One evaluator described Brazobán, 34, as a “late bloomer who has improved a lot in the last two years.” Another evaluator called Brazobán’s changeup a “plus-plus pitch.”
Brazobán’s age and lack of track record concerned some evaluators and they didn’t expect him to be a big-impact reliever. But one said he could become an elite leverage reliever if the Mets help him figure out which pitches to deploy in certain situations. At the least, an executive surmised, Brazobán raises the floor for the Mets’ middle innings by offering a distinct look with his sinker/changeup combination.
For evaluators, Zuber is a wild card. One person said Zuber’s stuff “jumps off the page,” but there’s no telling what to expect from a 29-year-old who has logged just 3 1/3 innings in the majors since 2021 while spending a brief period in an independent league. Scouts cited command issues, but said Zuber can get right-handed batters out with his low-slot delivery. In the context of relievers sometimes emerging out of seemingly nowhere, one person said, “It’s not crazy to think he can be something, if not really good.”
Scouts, executives weigh in on David Stearns’ first trade deadline with the Mets - ( New Window )
But as one executive said, “In what was a sellers’ market, as a team trying to make the playoffs, you should take that price and be fine with it.”
Fangraphs has them 10th including Benge. I like fangraphs $ methodology the best because it's validated by real data not just rankings, however their prospect grades are a little hit or miss. For example, see the link below they have Clifford 10th in the system at a grade of 40+ when I think he's clearly a much more interesting prospect than more than 1 of the 45's above him (baez, acuna, even benge). I think Clifford is more like a 45+/50 (which would be a borderline top 100 prospect).
Their Met top 10/grades are pretty reasonable generally though:
55 = Sproat
50 = Gilbert, J-Rod, Jett
45+ = Mauricio
45 = Acuna, Tidwell, Benge, Baez
40+ = Clifford
they count scott as graduated which is probably correct but im not sure all services have him past the service time threshold.

But Zuber kept training, kept throwing. He’d tell himself that if he didn’t hear anything by next Friday, he’d stop. Next Friday never really arrived, though. He kept pushing his end date back another week. And another. And then another.
Eventually, Zuber said, he convinced himself that his stuff still looked good. He had spent the previous year or so working on his mechanics at Driveline. His velocity was up to around 95 mph. He had developed a sweeper with characteristics and numbers, scouts later said, that jumped off the page.
So Zuber called his agent, Adam Groff of ACES Baseball, and asked if any teams were interested. No one had inquired. But the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League had an opening, and Groff suggested it would be Zuber’s best bet. After some deliberation, Zuber agreed it was worth the shot.
“I had one of those come-to-Jesus moments,” Zuber said. “I got to thinking that I invested all this money into getting back, had the surgery and I’ve put in so much blood, sweat and tears to try to get back. I told myself, after a month or two, if it’s not happening, if I’m not doing well financially, then at least I am going out on my terms and not someone else’s.”
Zuber lasted only a couple of weeks with the Ducks. He enjoyed the time with baseball lifers, forgot about playing for a paycheck and focused on having fun. Along the way, he pitched well, too. In six games and 5 2/3 innings, he had a 1.59 ERA with two saves and 10 strikeouts.
“It was the greatest blessing that happened to me,” Zuber said. “Going to Indy ball made me love the game of baseball again.”
Zuber’s stint with the Ducks also persuaded major-league teams to give him another chance. The Mets were among the teams interested in him, league sources said. But Zuber signed with the Rays, who moved him to Triple-A Durham, where he logged a 2.49 ERA in 21 2/3 innings with 29 strikeouts and six walks before receiving a promotion.

Sproat is unreal. There was a nearly 3 minute highlight video of him linked below. Well worth the watch. I was excited about Scott, but I expect Sproat to surpass him. Was hitting high 90s and throwing absolute gas. Can't wait to see him with the big club. Hope he gets a September audition for the playoffs. 106 innings last year in college, 87 so far this year. Would think he would be fine for that.

Kaprielian was close. was out 2016-2019. I remembered Holderman missing more time than he did but he was more like 2 years. I'm rooting for Allan to have some kind of Holderman type outcome but it's very unlikely. i think it would be a waste to even try him as a SP.
Gotta think he will be in mix for a promotion to MLB if he looks good too. He pitched 106 innings last year and 89 the year before. he's at 87 now, so would think they will be comfortable pushing him to at least 120-30, which should be another 8-10 starts.

This is a new post season exhibition season, not to be confused with the playoffs. The pitchers drafted this season likely won’t pitch much at all (some will be assigned but not pitch), Benge will likely finish up with St. Lucie but a guy like Snyder almost certainly won’t.

14. Jeremy Rodriguez, SS, Mets
Age: 18. B-T: L-R. Ht.: 6-0. Wt.: 170. Acquired: Trade, 2023 (D-backs).
After being signed by the Diamondbacks in 2023, Rodriguez was traded to the Mets in the deal that sent outfielder Tommy Pham to Arizona. He moved stateside this year and showed intriguing upside, albeit with some warts. None of his tools stands out, and he’s likely to be a hit-over-power player thanks to a feel for the barrel without standout strength. There’s some pull-side juice, but he’s likely to rack up singles and doubles. Scouts are split defensively on whether Rodriguez will wind up at shortstop or second base, with just average range and fair arm strength as factors that might push him to the right side of the infield.

very cool dan. here's a good VBA in the real world exploration by cressey. im not positive about this because i cant find much public VBA data, but i would guess that lower launch angles are associated with lower VBAs (using cresseys comparison soto's career launch angle is 33% lower than league average and trouts is 50% higher). the physics of it just seem obvious.
would be funny if out of all this vientos low launch angle was actually the thing that helped his swing translate.
In my opinion the best thing that understanding a player’s VBA can help with is creating a better approach for each hitter. Mike Trout probably isn’t going to look to swing up in the zone until he has to with two strikes or if a situation allows for it. Juan Soto probably is going to look for a pith up in the zone. This isn’t to say that they don’t train to work on these locations they struggle with; my guess is that they actually spend a lot of time working on these weaknesses. There are videos of Trout talking doing about some high tee work trying to stay on top and flat and hit ground balls up the middle. This seems like a great drill to help him feel what he needs to do in order to get to these balls up in the zone when he has to hit them. As any great hitter would agree, having a good approach is likely the most important thing to being a good hitter but it’s hard to individualize that approach if you don’t know what pitches/locations a hitter can handle best.
Vertical Bat Angle: A New Way to Look at Batter vs. Pitcher Matchups - ( New Window )
A lower than expected VBA (barrel tipped more toward the ground) is associated with a higher spray angle (ball hit toward the opposite field) and a higher launch angle. This suggests that swings that fall into this category tend to lead to cutting the bottom half of the ball which in turn leads to weaker hit fly balls that tail toward the opposite field. In contrast, higher than expected VBA may lead to hitting the top half of the ball which results in balls hit harder at lower launch angles to the pull side.
(i think the bottomline is all this is that there are likely characteristics to prefer somewhere in there that mark the hallmarks of what we think of as "line drive hitters" or "contact hitters" or "power hitters", and as the game evolves different styles of hitters will have their moments as a response to how different styles of pitchers evolve - but ultimately as the soto/trout examples show there is more than one way to skin a cat and great players can be great in different ways)

Joander Suarez has allowed 2 ER over his last 24 innings pitched dropping his era froom 4.85 to 3.92 in the process
seems like he hit a wall when he got promoted to SYR, is this 3 bad starts in a row in SYR?
Hope he's not injured.

Got roughed up last night. 6 ER over five innings. Gave up 3 HR and 9 hits. No strikeouts.

2 terrible starts out of 3. He's at 100 IP and last year at Florida had 106.
2nd appearance today - both out of the pen.
Based on the box scores looks like he did well. 3 hitless innings. 1BB and 3 Ks.
I jinxed him.
They have to add him to the 40 to avoid that. Otherwise, he's a FA. They didn't add protect him from the rule 5 last season and he's still in AA after 137.1 innings pitched (a high number of innings to leave a 24 year old SP having success at a level) in today's game. Stearns has never mentioned him in interviews so it's unclear their view of him.
Team: Low-A St. Lucie (Florida State)
Age: 20
Why He’s Here: .546/.615/1.570 (12-for-22), 6 R, 3 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBIs, 4 BB, 2 SO, 0 SB
The Scoop: The Mets went over slot to sign Ewing out of high school in the fourth round in 2023. He began this season in the Florida Complex League but showed big power and sound swing decisions to earn a promotion to Low-A after just 19 games. Ewing took time to adapt to the level but has put up a 1.019 OPS in August in the pitcher-friendly Florida State League. Drafted as a shortstop, he has focused on center field this season, with occasional work at second base as the Mets try to build in more positional versatility with their prospects this season. (ME
wonder if they consider giving him a look out of the BP down the stretch with big club.
but i guess fujinami looks like he's been good for the last month or so, so he's probably more likely if they choose anyone other than SRF or Brazoban when rosters expand. this is a long list of guys with 5+ eras. syracuse was probably not a very fun watch over the last month:
Jett headed back to Bing after today's game

Excuse me... his actual age has still not officially been clarified.
arms (out of respect for the source I'm unclear how much I can actually say) but some real positive stuff coming out of Florida

Bing was probably even less fun to watch in August. Ramirez, and Parada, and Clifford has 2 extra base hits + the "ace" Stuart traded.
Single was 95.7 MPH, GO 94.7. Again, results have been good, just interesting he's getting away with not exactly crushing the ball so far

"Scott (elbow) could begin throwing off a mound soon, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports."
I personally believe the most likely outcome is TJ for both Scott and probably Nunez as well but that's not coming from any inside information.
I did learn just yesterday that Brooks Raley and his agent were unhappy with the Mets/David Stearns regarding the handling of his elbow/TJ.
what is his status? Does he need to be added to the 40-man? Obviously after all this time any type of major league career is a long shot, but it would be a great story, and I'd hate for the Mets to lose him to another team for him to make his comeback.
Also, would AFL be an option for him?
