Being that that 14 men are under contract and the maximum is 15, I'm assuming this is a 1 year deal for the vet minimum of $3.3 mill. I think the Knicks have roughly $7.62 M to work with in 2nd apron cap space prior to this signing (click HERE for their overall cap status).
They can sign three guys to two-way contracts. They've got one so far in Ariel Hukporti. I'm assuming that Kevin McCullar Jr.--their only unsigned draft pick (#56 overall)-- is gonna be signed to one of the remaining two other two-way contracts as a result of this. In case of a trade, both of these guys can be signed to regular 15-man roster.
I can see Chuma Okeke being part of a deal as salary filler down the road once trading is allowed to begin on December 15th. The trade deadline isn't until February 6th, 2025 (click HERE to see key NBA dates for this coming season), so the Knicks would have a little less than two months to figure out the backup Center position in-season from that point onwards. This looks like the squad they'll toll with into the regular season for the first 7 weeks or so with the season starting at or around the third week of October.
I figured they had this on the stove while the Precious negotiations were ongoing, but weren't gonna proceed until that was taken care of since it took priority.
I'm guessing McCullar Jr. (SG/SF) & Dmytro Skapintsev (Center) are gonna be signed to the remaining two two-way contracts. Let's see the terms of this Okeke deal first.

Okeke signed an Exhibit 10 deal, a league source says.
I just looked up what this means:
Quote:
"An Exhibit 10 is a one-year, minimum-salary NBA contract—essentially a tryout deal. Teams have until the start of the regular season to determine whether to convert such a contract into a two-way contract with a player. Buie and Domask were among several undrafted players who struck deals with teams."
So basically, this is just a tryout. If they like him enough, they'll sign him. If not, they'll let him go. Catch and release type of deal.
An Exhibit 10 is not a guaranteed roster spot. Okeke signed a minimum contract that has no guarantees. It doesn’t mean he can’t make the roster and sign a standard deal, but typically these deals are used to get guys to training camp and eventually to the Westchester Knicks. The Knicks do this every offseason, with a notable example in my head being Dwayne Bacon in the 2021 offseason. Expect more of these “signings” ahead of training camp.
Filipowski which is probably nothing but who knows.
They really should trade Lauri and start over but it sounds like the latest is that he’ll resign which sort of just puts them in purgatory.
Stil hope Kessler shakes free but at this point I’d trade for Filipowski grooming and all. He had a really impressive summer league and we need someone with upside.
He is an extremely athletic guy that had his career derailed by a nasty ACL. He has now recovered from that.
He is also 6'8" and 230 w a 7' WS.
He plays very hard.
Developmentally he is way behind. At 24, it may be too late to envision anything but him topping out at being an Isaac Okoro type.

My guess is, only you know what "w a 7' WS." means.

Teams will sign players to exhibit 10 to give them a little extra money so in trun if they are cut they sign with their G league team
