1. Not sure we've ever had one like Nabers. First thing I noticed is that below the waist, he's built like a running back or a tight end. The biggest thing though is, he gets open almost right off the line of scrimmage on literally every play. Throughout the day, he lined up everywhere, including tight to the line of scrimmage on a few snaps. I didn't get to see him too much after the catch today, but I could see why he gets mad when the ball is not thrown his way. He truly is always open.
2. I hope I'm wrong, but secondary could be a problem. The drop off at corner after Deonte Banks is very steep. He hangs with Malik and Hyatt, but besides whoever he's covering, there were pass catchers running open in the secondary all over the place. Hopefully it's just that they're still learning a new defense.
3. In walkthroughs with the core skill players, Jones seemed to have a focus on getting the ball to Bellinger today, then during the team session, he found Theo Johnson on a couple of impactful plays. Maybe tight end can become a strength on this team?
4. I noticed accountability on special teams. On one play, Tre Hawkins failed to down a punt inside the five and it bounced into the end zone, the kind of play that kills you during a real game. One of Ghobrial's assistants got his face right away and chewed him out really close to us fans where we could hear it.
5. Daboll seems to do a nice job of letting his coaches coach. I remember at Joe Judge training camps, seeing him walk around like General Patton, stopping and micromanaging every group. Daboll seems to really have a nice demeanor as he strolls around and lets the coaches do their jobs.
6. A lot of numbers working in the return game right now which you would expect. Olszewfski, mackenzie, asante, Tracy. And then on the kicking teams, boykin, Bryce Ford Wheaton, Trey hawkins. Interesting to see who ends up sticking on the roster for these specialized roles.
7. The new kickoff is going to take some time to get used to. It has no depth to it visually, instead it's a really really horizontal type of a play that takes place across the whole width of the field at once. I have got to better train my eyes to watch it. I have no experience watching XFL so I'm not familiar with it.
8. Noticed a couple things with physicality. Kayvon and Cordale stood out as looking a little thicker, Andru Phillips is a little bit of a bigger boy than I thought, and Jordan Riley looked a little leaner which is probably good for him. Ryder Anderson is long lean and impressive looking, as is of course Brian Burns and it was my first time seeing him in person.
9. Offensive line is a mixed bag. Carmen Bracillo seems to be an animated high-energy guy. Love watching Andrew Thomas, but he did get beat by Kayvon once. Schmitz was in uniform but never participated and no Evan Neal, so I saw a lot of guys that we hope don't have to play getting most of the Reps on first team.
10. Not easy to figure out what they have in mind for Isaiah Simmons, but it seems like something. He was lined up in a lot of different places, including what looked like almost a safety type of a role.
11. As far as Daniel Jones goes, I saw the same thing I see every summer at training camp. He looks absolutely amazing, right out of Central Casting, can't tell he's ever been hurt in his life, and the ball never hits the ground. And then the season starts and something seems to happen.... but the guy certainly passes the eye test with flying colors....I don't know....
Overall, it was a very hot day and the crowd was on the smaller side that I've seen it in many years going to camp. Had a great day though, and I can't wait to see how we stack up against another team.
Regarding:

I was wondering the the thing (i.e. receivers not named Nabers open due to poor secondary skills etc.).
Hopefully the receivers are legit and the secondary just needs time to gel.
When that element is introduced, he's exposed. He's a great quarterback with the redshirt.
Because of that flaw, it surprises me the Giants have not been more active in the trade market for proven offensive lineman. Developing lineman has been difficult for them. For Jones to succeed I think they need a Lions caliber line.
From all accounts-cpgiants too-he had a good day today. Let's hope it translates to the regular season when the real bullets are flying. He should-on paper-have a decent OL & some good WRs, especially Nabers. No more fucking excuses for #8.
#9 The OL. Is there anybody other than AT that stood out, in your opinion ??
If the defense does well does the offense suck?
You can truly see something bad on almost every play. It is eay to "see what you want to see".

Also this time of year people forget the D is always further along than the offense.
Great report! Thanks!
Ya think! Flott looked so overmatched by our young star….I would imagine anytime Flott is covering other stars, he better have help.

I think you can say that about 25 QBs in the league. I’m a Jones fan but he may just be broken if the line can give him more time. It’s like the game 2 for flinching. He may not be able to control it anymore.
I think if they can build some confidence he may be able to be successful. I do think that Daboll made a critical error last year in the 1st game against Dallas leaving Jones in the game to take a pounding. You don’t do that to your starting QB in a lost game.
Are you going again!
Think Amon-Ra St. Brown or Ja'Marr Chase.
I don’t think the Giants have ever had a WR like Nabers. When I watch his LSU tape I see someone who keeps defenders guessing.
the main thing that peaked with bellinger his rookie year is fan opinion bc he exceeded expectations. he didnt get nearly as much playing time bc of waller in year, but when he did as a receiver by most metrics he was better in year 2. more explosive plays, higher catch%, higher YPC, more ypg. i found the blocking is harder to quantify but i didnt notice any big difference either way.
add another thank you for the great report cpg!
Yes. After a week of camp he has proven without a doubt that he is worth $30M/per. It was getting dicey for awhile there, though. After the day one walk through he didn’t really demonstrate that he’s a dominant player and I heard the coaching staff got frustrated enough that he hadn’t shown that dominance yet they almost cut him during the first lunch break
agree your initial observation. As to his metrics in '23, that surprises me bec he didn''t jump out as a difference maker, maybe in games NYG were behind so short routes per TT and TDV? As to blocking ability I agree there too, he's < avg in both years ):.

They need a decent line.
