Safety depth

Tyler Nubin, Jason Pinnock, Dane Belton, Isiah Simmons, GerVarius Owens, Alex Johnson, Jalen Mills, Elijah Riley.

Seems like all of them are making plays. How many Safeties do the Giants normally keep? What’s your prediction on who makes the roster? Would love to trade one of them to the safety needing Buffalo Bills for a corner

More in the LB group, but I understand his “Tweener” body type and skill set.

Have something in Alex Johnson. Not sure he beats out Owens who has also flashed, but he’s a near certainty to make the PS (assuming he doesn’t get poached)
The practice squad functions as a roster extension...

...for a long shot like Johnson and marginal vets like Mills and Riley. It's worth noting that both Mills and Riley have spent their entire careers in the northeast. That might give the Giants an edge with a vet who gets cut and has to choose among multiple offers to join a practice squad or sign to a roster after Week 1. Riley has no guarantees. Mills is only guaranteed the equivalent of a year on the practice squad with a few elevations. So the assumption is that they won't make the Week 1 roster, and Mills needs to get on the field to have a chance.
