Giants Training Camp Day 8 thoughts
•Tyler Nubin is a noticeably smart player. Takes care of his responsibilities while paying attention to everything around him. Physical too.
•Great practice from Brian Burns. Couple clear sacks. Also really noticeable that Dexter Lawrence was practicing
•Josh Ezeudu got some 1st team snaps at LG and then Tackle on 2nd team. He left practice early. Not sure why.
•Back shoulder throws to Malik Nabers seem to be an emphasis

New York #Giants Training Camp Day 8 KEY TAKEAWAYS

- Tyrone Tracy Jr got a lot of reps
- O-Line was BAD https://x.com/TheGiantTakePod/status/1819408188275294419 - ( New Window )
I’d expect a lot of lines to have a bad day going against Dex, Burns, and Thibs. I think this group will be fine. Not perfect, but somewhere around league average. The floor is much higher than last year.

NO...
Old man line had Glenn Parker and Lomas brown manning the left side- both in their mid )Parker) to uppper (Brown) 30's. We have a Franchise LT, young Center, mid aged guys at G and a mid aged guy at LT (with neal still to play and Ezuedu, McKeathan etc.. No, it is not the same as 2000.

Daniel Jones 9/16 on Day 8 with 1 TD & 1 INT.
Usually try to not pick and choose what’s a sack or not but today had multiple clear sacks.
Touchdown to Allen Robinson in the Redzone. Interception to Jason Pinnock on 4th & 20 during 2 minute drill.
I wonder what Jones collective numbers are for camp so far?
I honestly miss the days when I was a kid and we didnt know jack about what happened in camp, really didnt know much of anything until the preseason games started. Fans were much happier in those day it seemed. Once game 1 of the regular season happened the doom would set in, but at least we had summer!

We agree (never mind Eric in Li's stats (: ), though not sure about the more than adequate. I'd like to see more physicality on LOS and presence in crossing routes, too easy to cover.

Back in the day, early '80's on, there was weekly report "Inside Football', Patty Triana predecessor. "The Editor" in small blue print would report on each days activity. If I remember correctly it would come by mail either Tuesday or Wednesday and breakdown the previous weeks practices. It was the best and most accurate ahead of it's time. A couple examples of his reporting was how good LT looked from day1. And the best one he reported on, I think was Karl Nelson who had struggled in his first year for two. About midway thru camp he reported that suddenly the light went on and Nelson suddenly was looking like an all pro.
He had a letters to the editor section where he would answer everyones questions.
One thing i havnt seen mentioned on the Burns "sack"

No comparison. The Inside Football publication was extremely detailed. It was for diehard fans.
• Type of day where there isn't much to react to from a sixth-year QB. They did a lot of red zone work, so not many opportunities to air it out. Best pass was a deep in-route to Wan'Dale Robinson after climbing the pocket. A lot of plays were disrupted by the pass rush.
There was a nice throw and catch with Hyatt for a TD that would have been a clear sack by Brian Burns after a nasty spin move on Jermaine Eluemunor. Burns and/or Ryder Anderson would have had a sack on Jones' desperation interception by Jason Pinnock. DT Elijah Chatman, who got a bunch of first-team reps, had a sack right before C Austin Schlottmann lost his breakfast. Noted sacks for Kayvon Thibodeaux (quietly having a strong camp) and Azeez Ojulari.
• Jon Runyan exclusively worked at LG again, although his reps were scaled back. Josh Ezeudu (before getting carted off) and Jake Kubas got work at LG with the starters. Greg Van Roten was the starting center again, with Schlottman (pre puke) and Jimmy Morrissey rotating in.
• Tyrone Tracy had his second fumble of camp. Otherwise, has been impressive.
• Tyler Nubin split reps on the second-team defense. He planted Gunner Olszewski after he caught a slant.
• This was by far the long, most physical practice of camp. Lot more run plays during team periods than usual.
• Players who left with injuries: WR Isaiah McKenzie (hip/back), WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton (?), TE Jack Stoll (knee), OL Josh Ezeudu (?) and DL DJ Davidson (?).

Let these guys bang together. If Schmitz and Neal can't make it back and earn a spot, that should be a serviceable OL if it works together during camp.

Thibs would have blown him up in game action there. But hope McKenzie is okay and just a painful bump more than anything.

It's a horrendous play design, especially going left making the throw even more difficult to get off.

In all these clips, Jones just has no zip on his passes. Maybe because he can't use his legs fully? But he really never had much velocity on his passes.

He didnt feel it until Burns ran by him

@DDuggan21
Practice notes:
Another Joe Schoen o-line draft pick.
Picked under the influence of Bobby Johnston?
Kubas seems to be doing well. Maybe the Giant found something for the o line.
