Any previous DJ camp....looks great in camp and does not carry forward to the season.
Exhibit 1-A to support your claim.
Preseason game 2 last year versus Carolina, opening drive.
People went to great lengths last year to explain away their poor performance vs. the Lions in the joint practice.
We won't know anything about this team until the regular season begins. But at least the OL isn't getting destroyed in a joint practice. Plus, we have a WR who has the makings of the other stud WRs from LSU in the league currently (Chase and Jefferson), and we have a legit top NFL pass rusher in Burns wreaking havoc on a good OL.
RE: RE: Starting to think that NYG is going to look a lot more like the 2022
team than the 2023 team. Maybe even some more upside given how Nabers looks.
The 2022 team was pretty lucky, so this doesn't mean Giants are going back to the playoffs (much less the divisional round) but I think this is going to be a competitive team in the 8-10 win range. Thinking that the "over" 6.5 wins is a solid wager.
These WRs are WAY, WAY, WAY better than 2022.
The OL is better than 2022.
The defense is better than 2022.
People got overly doom n gloom about this team based on what happened last year. And they still won 6 games. If healthy they are going to surprise a lot of people.
With Feliciano at C and Glowinski playing decent right guard his first year and Thomas being healthy for 17 games it held up fairly well.
Last year JMS was not ready week 1 Thomas gets hurt and for some reason I'll never understand we move Erzudu to left tackle after he played guard all spring and get Jones killed. We went from 49 sacks allowed to 85 in 2023
JMS was not bad to start the season. He looked extremely competent. He never recovered from the injury and appeared lost after it, too. More Bobby Johnson getting in the way, I believe.
Two clips of big playes by Lions, I noticed #3 making up a lot of ground to make tackles. Had to lood up number, and that's Tae Banks. Don't know if he was making up for someone else's mistakes or those were on him.
After a great comment by Nabers yesterday about how DJ should stay out of fights so he doesn't get hurt, he himself made some stupid decisions today throwing punches at helmets. We don't need him breaking a finger.
Are you talking about the play where the RB was left open down the field? How would that be on Banks???

But I also think that some guys are just so good, you can see it immediately.
I think Nabers is one of those guys.

Malik Nabers really is absurd. A day after the rookie went 8/8 (receptions to targets), he starts today 6/6. He caught four in 7-on-7 and now two to start team drills. It’s not just that #NYG targeting him. He catches everything.
Not just #Giants secondary. #Lions can’t cover him either.
I think this tells you a few things a) Nabers has a chance to be special. The type of player the giants haven’t had. B ) Jones might not be the “Bum” that people claim he is. For the type of numbers he has to be accurate, c) the OL seem to be better but there still is work to do. D) our secondary other than Banks (sucks).
Not sure I agree with this. I really like our safeties. Banks and Phillips look like the real deal. Aren't we really talking about one question mark?

The pass rush will need to chip in to help the secondary. Banks and Pinnock are good. Belton/Nubin are question marks. McCloud and Flott are big question marks.
That's why they should sign a vet CB. It would be a huge help and solidify the secondary.

We looked a lot better than we did last year in joint practices with Detroit and that is with Detroit returning their coordinators whereas we have an entirely new D and some changes on O.

Flott, McCloud, Hawkins.....???
I love all the young guys are getting meaningful reps. Obviously I’d love to see JMS, Neal, Theo, and Nubin healthy and getting the same quality reps as the rest but I digress…
I know I’m captain obvious but the defense and secondary are going to struggle for a while getting used to a new system and all the young guys playing but again it will only get better in the long run. I would like to sign a vet if possible. (Gilmore, Howard) especially if Flott really struggles. I don’t care about growing pains, but if he’s not showing any progress he might be better in a backup role.
Obviously the OL is always a concern so I’ll always search the waiver wire/FA to get better and deeper. Donovan Smith? Conner when he gets healthy and passes his physical?
Barring injuries, if we can shore up CB2, add another vet OL especially swing T, edge #4 and a 3 tech DT, I’ll be extremely happy.
I’m not predicting playoffs or anything like that but I feel like this team will be fun to watch. 2021,2023 were literally unwatchable. This team there’s a lot of guys I can’t wait to watch once the season starts

I don't get the feeling they are going to ditch Ezeudu to bring in someone's castoff at tackle. Giants will likely carry nine OLs. Much depends on if Neal is on the 53. They can't IR before the season or he's out for the year. They can PUP him.

Got the chance to watch every one on one rep between the Giants first team offensive line and the Lions defensive line today.
What’s funny is that in years past, all I would hear about watching the Giants OL was how the defensive players had such a huge advantage in one on ones.
I didn’t see that advantage today. I guess that’s what happens when you actually have the makings of a good offensive line.

an average o-line would be the biggest boon for the entire team. It has literally wrecked games and seasons with how bad it's been. Now if JMS could get healthy to see where he's at..

I hate keeping stats in training camp. Hate it.
But sometimes the stats can provide solid context. The numbers from Malik Nabers are just ridiculous the past two days.
Daniel Jones was 7-of-10 in 11-on-11 drills. Looked like he would've been sacked twice early on in muddied pockets. He also broke off a long scramble. One TD pass to Nabers, which if you have not seen yet, check out my video on the timeline for the extra special commentary that preceded the play.

If this Oline somehow ranks in the top 15 this year they better give Carmen Bricillo an airtight long term extension. I can handle mediocre football, but awful bottom of the league OL is just too demoralizing to stomach after the past decade.
something to consider with CB2. Last year we were most a man team on D with a lot of blitzing. That required real strong cover CBs. This year, we'll be mostly zone so our CBs should expect to get more help from the safeties, and our crop of safeties is pretty good. Belton and Nubin are especially good at finding the football. So maybe our group of CBs are good enough for this system. I would expect that with time and familiarity most of the communication failures that have been resulting in scores will go away.
Exactly what I said is going to happen. This is a playmaker system, Jones is not going to look average, he will look as good as Tua did with Hill and Waddle. You cannot cover Nabers, the same way you cannot cover Hill. You will watch this play out in camp and preseason games. You people that think Jones cannot play are wrong. He can throw the type of passes needed to make this go. Wandale and Hyatt are going to break. These 3 receivers dominated to SEC, this is not about JOnes. Daboll has his pieces..
Watch out.
The reactions to single practices around here.
I said this before any practices a number of times. Exactly how I said it will happen is how it will happen. It will not surprise you. It ISN’T going to happen because Jones is great. It will happen because a playmaker system like this is just perfect for a QB like Jones. He is actually accurate, unlike Lock(ask Christian).
NABERS is a nightmare.
You need a nightmare.
This should work much better than most of you admit(I kinda think you know, it is why you seem mad)
The critics of Jones will have nothing to apologize for. Jones has not delivered on #6. This is going to work though, enjoy it.

Flott, McCloud, Hawkins.....???
Boogie Basham
Just carted off.
Not that I want to lose Boogie, but this might be the only way Elijah Chatman makes the roster.

Based on his reps and productivity, I think he's making the roster.
And he and Chatman play different positions.

Don't trust some of these accounts saying the Lions' DL dominated the Giants' OL in 1-on-1s.
Lions kept their top DL in against Giants' backups.
And don't retweet them complaining, either. That's what they want for more engagement.

You mean...., there's a chance?

NABERS is a nightmare.
You need a nightmare.
This should work much better than most of you admit(I kinda think you know, it is why you seem mad)
The critics of Jones will have nothing to apologize for. Jones has not delivered on #6. This is going to work though, enjoy it.

Nabers certainly sounds like a nightmare. The trouble is, Jones is also a nightmare, but the wrong kind of nightmare.
