Listening to Tate and his play by play guy is the broadcast equivalent of watching paint dry.
Not even talking about them being homers which I expected but what a snooze fest lifeless announcing duo. A minute ago they said the score tonight is deceiving, and I can’t figure out if they think it should be worse or the Lions are getting the better of the play.
The early returns at offensive line are very encouraging. Lower pedigree guys operating functionally should be a good indication of what's possible for the starting group.
He's huge. I know lot of BBI liked him. If anybody gets injured early - hope they look to get this guy.
I really liked Milton. I thought he was QB5 in this draft and wanted him from the 3rd all the way on. I was really upset we drafted Mausau in the 6th over him. Huge arm and had great size and speed. He needed to work on his footwork in the pocket which I thought Dabs could help with.
I was kind of hoping to read more of your player impressions, as the game progresses.
There’s a lot to like so far. Run blocking has been excellent, and RBs have hit some holes Barkley would’ve frustatingly denied. DBs look better than listed.

He is going to be a fan favorite early here in NE. Played well 1st game.

RB Tracy
Stock down:

Ojulari
McKenzie (punt/kick)
Agreed. I’d add G. Owens in the stock up list. He’s always flashing.

How’s that?
Because bottom tier players playing well together is a reflection of good coaching and preparation. Adding more talent to the equation only helps.
as good as Gray was this game if we had to cut one I am cutting him. That is saying something because Gray ran awesome tonight.
I think 4rbs can make the team assuming someone goes to ST no? Highly doubt Gray is a casualty.
I mean I agree... I want to keep them all, but if we can't... Gray is my cut and that is saying something because he won't stay on the PS. It will be tough to keep 4 RBs and 4 TEs so we are going to lose someone good.
Living in the Seattle area and then with his stint at the Jints, I always found Tate unlikeable. Tonight's broadcast made me realize that I totally underestimated how smugly mundane he truly is. I've seen better HS broadcasts.
I was kind of hoping to read more of your player impressions, as the game progresses.

Agreed about owens. I like him a lot. Hard to keep 5 safetys though. Hopefully he’s earned a promotion to top 4 tonight. He needs to beat out Riley and nonexistent Mills…so, Riley.
It can help to re-state exactly what the situation was.
An undrafted rookie free agent QB on a terrible football team with what everyone agreed was an awful situation for a QB at offensive line and WR was able to be prepared to play NFL football decently enough with just 3 months of work to go 3-3 as a starter, including a monday nighter against a playoff-quality roster.
The preseason expectation was spending a year on the practice squad
Oh my gosh... WE WON THAT MONDAY NIGHT GAME BECAUSE WE HAD 4 TURNOVERS!! DeVito did not win that game. He threw for 158 yards!! Stop this stupidity.
DeVito threw a 32-yard pass to Wan'Dale Robinson to set up Randy Bullock's 37-yard field goal as time expired, and the Giants beat Green Bay 24-22 on Monday night to hand the Packers their first December loss since Matt LaFleur took over as coach in 2019.
Yep, his one shining moment, in a game where GB played like crap without their best edge and CB and lost a starting safety during the game. DeVito deserves credit for completing two key throws to take advantage. His other games were against the Jets (allowed to throw 7 passes in more than a half, including 0-4 in more than a half of regulation and 2 for 3 in OT for a whopping minus 1 yard), Pats, Washington, Dallas (51 percent), Saints (smoked) and Philly (benched).
Jones faces Dallas, Cards, 49ets, Seahawks, Miami and Las Vegas, without at least two thirds of his O line in all but one game.
There is no way in hell Daboll wouldn't give DeVito a chance to win the job if he thought he could be better than Jones. Coaches try to win.
RB gray made the absolute most out of tonight, I can’t understand the shade on him. I love me turbo and Tracy. But Gray held up tonight, he really showed up.
On the subject of 4 RBs, probably means 3 TEs, what's wrong with that ? -
Bellinger, Theo, and the blocking specialist - Manhertz
They are more likely to try and move a player like Gray to the PS than cut a quality TE.
I would have a hard time believing another team would make a roster claim for the Giants' 4th string RB.
Like you’re speaking of what DeVito did as an undrafted rookie, you’d lose your shit
He was damn good for an undrafted rookie. That doesn't mean he is good enough to be a starter. And guys who are paid a lot of money to know the difference (not me or you) have decided he isn't.
I think Tracy and Miller are good RBs. Gray had the highlights but I agree with others that Tracy and Milller are ahead from my eyes. Miller has a different gear. I think he will be fun to watch. Tracy looks like an every down back, he’s got good vision, moves well and has some power. Gray looks plodding at some points but then had that great TD run, I may be biased by what I saw last season.
Very disappointed with Ojulari tonight. I was expecting him to have a big game but he seemed to just be going through the motions.
Lots to enjoy but also need to understand it was all backups and rookies playing on both sides.
As for Lock and DeVito, they didn’t play well but they also didn’t have anyone to throw to. Our WRs didn’t look good. For players fighting for roster spots they may be in trouble.
Devito sees the field better than jones. He anticipates and leads the receivers. I don't get the people that are so adamant that "DeVito is not an NFL QB." Are we watching the same games? He has a feel for the game that DJ does not.
If one wants to argue Jones is better than DeVito, fine. But pissing on even the debate that Tommy is better...come on.
DeVito looked a helluva lot better last year than Jones. He had a better college career. It isn't outrageous to think he's better than Jones.
I dont trust Jones one bit but its crazy to think Devito is better than Jones, there is literally nothing Devito is better than Jones at on the football field
Devito leads his receivers and ‘throws them open’ better than Jones does. That’s one thing he does better IMO. Kid has some juice.

The legend of DeVito lives on. He is currently a 3rd stringer. The people that do this for a living and saw him and coached him last year didn’t give him a thought as the backup. They wanted Taylor back and then signed Lock to be the primary backup. I’m sure that the Giants would love nothing more than to save millions of cap money on a backup and have DeVito be the guy but that didn’t happen.
The people who are using the argument that DeVito was better last year for winning 3 games, 2 of which were against the 2 teams picking in the top 3 of the draft, are the same people that say that Jones win against Minnesota in the 22 playoffs was a bad win because Minnesotas defense was bad despite winning 13 games.
I get that people don’t like Jones, but elevating DeVito to prove your case is a silly argument. DeVito was a great story but he is not a starting caliber QB.

A!so agree with this
Tate is brutal

I really liked Milton. I thought he was QB5 in this draft and wanted him from the 3rd all the way on. I was really upset we drafted Mausau in the 6th over him. Huge arm and had great size and speed. He needed to work on his footwork in the pocket which I thought Dabs could help with.

You can in the 4th quarter and you have to tell them you are doing it.
Indeed. I really like Miller, he's not nearly as much of a speed-only little guy as I thought he might be.
Technically there are still onside kicks, but with a bunch of restrictions.
To do one, it must be the 4th quarter, the team must be behind, and it has to be declared.
It seems you are not understanding the purpose of this game.

I assume there are no onside kicks - no chance to get the ball back except 3 and out.

then everybody lines up as normal. This kind of bites.
I thought Hooker looked ok... Ran faster than I remember.
Why, is there an update on his injury? Is it bad?

just run the clock out please

I very much do...and its needs to be over lol

Best news from the game for me.
That 2023 Arizona team was complete trash.
