Obviously not at cornerback, But it seems to me like we are much deeper than previous years. Isn’t wasn’t long ago when Darnay Holmes was basically our starting slot corner, he is probably 3 or 4th on depth chart now. Isaiah Hodgins Was basically our WR 1 or 2 a couple years ago, he is now 5th on the depth chart at best. Have 4 running backs that look capable. Safety room is loaded (Nubin, Pinnock, Belton, Owens, Jalen Mills, etc). Backup Oline actually looked good last night. Joshua Miles, Kubas, Mayfield looked solid.
Agreed. It looks better than in the last few years. But we don't know if the 2nd team was playing the other team's second string. We don't know what kind of schemes were being used.
But it was encouraging that they didn't look outclassed.
Depth means, you have people to step in and do a relatively professional, competent job.
Their depth is looking better across the board and as the young players develop, can actually become solid.
What impressed me last night, were 2 things.
The scheme on defense looked much more coordinated last night so players could make plays.
The other was the overall play of the OL. Coaching makes a HUGE difference!!
Interior DL is a strength. Bowen said some good players aren't going to make the team, and last night showed why. Anderson looked great; Chatman was impressive. Basham can be an inside guy too.
Chatman looks like he could be a diamond in the rough. He could develop into a good inside rusher, but he also holds his own vs the run
But one of the things they did talk about was how much depth the Lions had. How they had to find a place for all the young talent they had. They went on and on. To be fair they do have a lot of talent and depth. I just thought, must be nice. We had that once, back in the SB years and some day will again.
Are you talking about Dyontae Johnson?
Maybe if he keeps it up you might bother to learn his first OR last name!

And our depth outplayed their depth.
I watched that feed too BTW. It was the worst broadcast I've seen. I don't think they had a Giants roster; they showed virtually no replays; they blathered on and on about meandering crap all game rather than actually announcing it, they put themselves on camera about 10x more than tyoical.
And Golden Tate is a HEINOUS color guy.
McKethan was 3rd string, to note, in this weekend's game, and he was forced to start last season against San Francisco. To put things in perspective how dire it was then.
