Tomorrow so I’ll leave at this, because it’s pretty simple.
If you actually intended to participate in the thread in the way you claim, your first post would not have been about how it’s ironic people like JJM now, when a majority hated him.
Everything in your original post is wrong, it’s been proven so false you had to get polls from another website. It starts and ends there. You’ll never admit it though, because that’s just you.
nobody needs a poll to see that the majority of posters who commented before i did disagreed with your thread bc it appeared over reactive off a partial preseason game - same as my half dozen initial posts.
before you even made a comment about my comment that you say "set the tone" the owner of the site said threads like this will be insufferable and he was proven absolutely right.
as aghast as bw is now his first reply to my comment was completely benign as were multiple follow-ups last night. go terps said it was absolutely true. yet here you guys are a day later consciously choosing to pretend it was somehow offensive or thread derailing. you guys need a safer space.
Congrats. You have become #1 chucklehead on BBI since Fatman went into hiding from his transgression from altering archived posts.
Good luck in pole position.
My notorious public defender go terps said it was absolutely true

Go Terps was once a pretty big advocate of Daniel Jones. And then he changed his mind. So, I'm not sure what the hell he's trying to say in supporting your comment.
There were enough good and bad performances by McCarthy last year to support either position - pro or con - going into the pre-draft process. If you liked him, you could cite performances A,B, and C. If you didn't like him, you could cite performances X,Y and Z.
He was clearly the most polarizing player going into the draft.
And I wouldn't say I'm aghast. Confused is the better choice. I'm confused that you think you can pool the wool over some eyes with your motives here.
Where did anyone even remotely imply a majority of BBIers wanted McCarthy?
That's an equally preposterous claim as saying the vast majority of BBIers crapped on him all regular season.
For a line of argument that's really about cautioning AJ on when McCarthy will start, this thread feels a lot like a series of generalizations intended to showcase who liked McCarthy when.
I think I'm back to my half-zip idea.
Majority meaning the same dozen or so who post every day
I didn't have some larger point in mentioning that no one liked McCarthy until shortly before the draft, and I don't know why Eric keeps bringing it up.
It's just the truth. If you go back and read the thread on the national title game, no one on BBI had McCarthy as a first rounder. That talk came later, as most notably Sy and Randy Mueller said similar things and becoming more impressed as they went back and watched film. That gained steam up through the Combine, where McCarthy performed well.
Personally I liked McCarthy better than Maye; I had Maye as 6th of the 6 that went in the first round.

i posted it once - the people who kept bringing it up were the ones saying it wasnt true and a day later acted somehow wounded by the comment. the truth somehow derailed the thread.
Are they talking to the wind? Why is there never any blame put on the people constantly engaging about Jones?
The people that talk about one of the higest paid players in the league as some wounded bird, brutalized during his career that deserves all of our sympathy.
Did it ever occur to you that the constant excuses made for this guy a key driver?
Me and bw were probably the most active when discussing QBs.
Regards to McCarthy
- there were a handful who didn’t like him at all
- there were a lot who didn’t want to draft him bc of not being asked to throw
- there were a lot of posters who were unsure because of Michigan’s system
- there were posters who really liked him.
The board was all over the place on him. Does it really matter where one’s opinions stood on him? It was easy to see his potential. Which is why I would have been ok with him at 6 and see if Daboll could. Have molded him. But he didn’t.

Time to move on…
I think most of this is accurate.
Further, and I'm fairly certain about this, there were discussions during the 2023 season about where McCarthy would be drafted if he declared. And a few posters - maybe Eric on Li? - were citing sources that McCarthy would be a definite first rounder selection. So, that topic did not just heat up in 2024 leading up to the draft.
He was in the mix as a NYG target for a longtime on the board.
he was absolutely in the mix which is why we were all talking about him in all the threads we are talking about (including the NCG thread both terps and I remember quite clearly). BBI cant agree on anything so of course there was a mix of opinions.
if mine/terps memories aren't enough for you, here your co-counsel christian seemed to also agree in a roundabout way that it would be a "preposterous claim" that a majority of BBI supported JJM (I could be wrong but in contrast I anecdotally believe there was a majority of support for the top 3 qbs and also probably penix, medical notwithstanding since that was an unknown).
Where did anyone even remotely imply a majority of BBIers wanted McCarthy?
That's an equally preposterous claim as saying the vast majority of BBIers crapped on him all regular season.
Christian's 2 statements here would seem to imply half pregnancy:
1) the majority didnt want JJM
2) but they also didn't crap on him.
in my experience when BBI'ers don't want someone, the adjectives used to describe their opinions of that player aren't typically measured and demure so i dont agree with that needle threading.
how I remember the McCarthy discussions during 2023. I'm not being argumentative here.
While more posters were involved leading up the draft, a core of us - including you - were pretty deep into the weeds about his draft prospects. In other words, he was just as polarizing in 2023 as he was in 2024 leading into the draft.
I was responding to your silly generalizations, as stand alone silly statements.
Silly Unsubstantiated Statement 1:
Quote:
also ironic its for JJM of all people since the vast majority of bbi crapped on him for most of last season right through the last game thread he appeared in
The majority of BBIers did not crap on him most of last season.
Silly Unsubstantiated Statement Two
Quote:
the athletic survey of 2600 giants fans pretty clearly backs up my memory that there was no majority clamoring for jj
At no point did anyone on this thread claim a majority was clamoring for him.
The words you're so desperately searching your mind for right now are simple: Yup, you guys are right. I'm exaggerated. I'm wrong.
I think my thoughts on JJM last fall was like, 'Michigan doesn't ask much of him so I have no idea what to think of him.' But his play in the 'Bama game was very good.

that is the entirety of what i meant in my initial voldemort post that got you guys all rustled up.

actually professor more than just i remember it exactly the way I said it, so you who werent among the subset of us in those threads can find a different pile to karen hump.
I think my thoughts on JJM last fall was like, 'Michigan doesn't ask much of him so I have no idea what to think of him.' But his play in the 'Bama game was very good.
he played all of last year at age 20 and playing for harbough he was on a team that ran the ball 60% of the time. there was a learning curve for all of us re jjm that didnt exist with caleb/maye since they were consensus top picks preseason or jayden/penix since they were the top 2 in the heisman race. even nix was 3rd. they all had huge stat lines and fit into cleaner 'franchise qb' molds.
bbi karens please forgive me if this feels uncomfortably exaggerated but I recall the late season PSU game where he only threw the ball 8 times for 60 yards in an entire game being brought up a whole lot. there's now selective amnesia now like there werent stronger feelings against him bc of things like that than the others who checked more traditional boxes.
Li, you'll have to provide a Google translate for that last gem. I can be a little ESL. Have they added the drop down for: Little angry guy is fuming on the Internet.?
In the meantime, it's pretty clear to everyone on this thread you exaggerated your points. We're not even looking for an apology. Just acknowledgement my friend.

this is cute. try rereading the word i bolded from your quote, i assume you'll get there eventually.
if not here's a hint - the first deputy of the self appointed exaggeration police made an obvious exaggeration.
After this weekend up in NH and Maine, if I hear a knock on the man cave door...it'll be that dude who was eyeing me with hate at June Cork-this Dover, NH bar-seeing me wearing a 2007 NY Giants Super Bowl T-shirt. He was rocking a Pats hat.
I actually stepped outside to give the wife a call & let her know that if I go missing, it was Giants related. Haha. I was kidding. Kinda.

i've had several pats fans in my life take shots at what remains of my 18-1 apparel (that still fits). gotta keep up the good fight until we have something better.

We didn't. We hit up Stoneface in Newington. I'll be back up visiting cousin in October & will ask to hit up Deciduous. I'm always looking for breweries to explore. If you don't know, I like beer...especially IPAs.

Ha ha. Good luck as you waffle thru public opinions without figuring out your own.
A select few posters (whether they are right or wrong) make this place pretty insufferable to read. The game thread was hijacked. You guys suck.
Ichabod becomes a vocal dissenter after 20+ years of lurking and saying nothing per him. What a credible guy.
Did the world run out of farts you could suck out of girls butts? You know the type.
