...I'd seen him a few times in a courtyard between apartment buildings, and one day had a chance to talk to him, after seeing USED CARS a couple of days before. "FUNNY PICTURE, FUNNY PICTURE!!" he said - told a few stories, how he loved working on that film.

He was a real character, one of my favorite of the era.
