Did Y'all See JJM vs. Raiders? Outstanding

JoeDonLooney : 8/11/2024 7:50 am
Yeah he threw one pick. Besides that he gunslinged it to Tristan Jackson deep for a TD and another deep pass to Trent Sheffield Sr. BTW, the video link caught Justin Jefferson jawing out loud how delighted he was to see the TDs. McCarthy led the team back from a deficit to a win 24-21 -- Not to shabby even if against backup/ reserves.

I could only imagine how his presence on the Giants would help Hyatt, Slayton and Robinson.

Anyway, we will see. I will be following the Vikings to see how he develops.

Pre season.
His greatness cannot be denied

Given the tenacious battles he’s won over his long career. I’d let him duke me right in the butt just so my duodenum can know what a champion feels like.

Pre season.

Yep, he was 29 for 34 for a little over 360 yards and 2 TDs, with no INTs. I think he played seven, maybe eight, series. McCarthy played six series yesterday and was 11-17 for 177 with 2 TDs and 1 INT.

It's the 1st preseason game which is a glorified scrimmage.
100% meaningless
OP, Yep

One preseason game against a vanilla defense and "you can't imagine" how great he'd be for the Giants. You're just another prisoner of the moment....

While I do find the premise of the thread to be ludicrous-it is a preseason game where he's going up against dudes who will be working @ accounting firms in a couple of months-do be prepared for these sort of threads if/when JJM, Nix, & Penix see time when the regular season rolls around.
53.7 Preseason QB rating vs 140.1

For reminding me why I don’t come on this site as often as I used too.
First, who is JJM? Second, what has this got to do with the Giants?

And How Did Our QBs Look Against Detroit?
JoeDonLooney : 8/11/2024 11:37 am : link
Backup or otherwise, go ahead and tell me that Lock and DeVito are as promising. Like it or not, Danny Dimes is on the clock. How long will our WRs be patient with dink and dump passes with the coaching staff expecting significant YAC on such plays. If Jones does not improve significantly this year, the Giants are going to replace him next year. If neither he, nor the backups (the first preseason game, they could not find an open receiver deep) show enough promise, the Giants are in QB Hell and will probably be desperate to draft or perhaps trade/ acquire a QB (Prescott?) next year.

So, watching JJM offers a glimpse of possibilities of a QB that a lot of fans did not want the Giants to draft. I would suggest all the "learned" fans consider the opportunity cost of not drafting a QB this past draft and next year the need arises again. And I am not stuck any particular top 2 or 3 candidates.

I remain convinced that Jones is not the answer.

I do t think Jones is the answer either but JJ looking good in 1 pre season game means dick.
All we ask for is to be reasonable about Jones last year.
Reese's Pieces : 8/11/2024 7:16 pm : link
He played with historically bad pass protection and nearly as bad run blocking. He was without Thomas. For most of the games he was without Saquon, who was important to Jones in 2022's season as Barkley as a running threat left Jones alone enough for him to run for big gains.

DeVito beat two of the bad teams. Jones beat the one bad team he faced and I think had to play two 12 win and two 11 win teams. The Giants invested a lot in him and he worked hard for the team and he just didn't deserve for it to end so on that note.

I would be fine if they had a QB sitting on the bench that the believed could be the right one, ready to take over mid-season if Jones doesn't play well or is hurt.

I don't even think the biggest DJ detractors-in which I include myself-dispute that he was dealt a shitty hand last year. He was.

But he also wasn't that good. That INT vs. the 'Hawks that practically ended the season...that wasn't on anyone but Jones.

It's possible to be of the belief that while Jones was given chicken shit last year, he didn't turn it into chicken salad. And when he's making the coin he is, there's an expectation that he should elevate the team. I'm just so sick of the excuses for him...that he needs this and that. Hey, he was drafted sixth overall. He got a huge contract. Maybe-just maybe-the buck should stop with him?

From all indications, it looks-knock on wood-he's going to have a competent OL this fall. The WR corp looks good with Malik, Slayton, Hyatt, & Robinson. I feel good that we got backs that can replace Saquon's production.

No more fucking excuses for Jones. None.
