Yeah, he doesn't seem long for this team. He's not big/tough enough to play inside so they moved him outside. With this zone heavy scheme, he's going to have to help support the run and that isn't his game. I know we see a lot of camp reports of him getting beat but it is just camp. If he truly can't cover either then I don't know that he'll be on this team after this year.

Report I found a while back in the Dallas Morning News
Apparentely he was benching 225 in SEVENTH grade.. He can now bench like 500lbs.
His record is 42 reps @ 225
They drove it to the parking lot of a nearby church. It was about an acre big, Anthony estimates. Elijah then asked his mom to put it in neutral; he’d handle the rest.
“Are you crazy?” Geralene recalls asking.

It's helpful for getting low to gain leverage in short yardage runs. It's not helpful for making plays. If it were such an advantage, you'd see lots of short DLs.

Depends on how that DL is used..
Aaron Donald was short. Geno Atkins was short. John Randle was short. Gary Jarrett for the Falcons is short. Ed Oliver for the Bills is short. Calijah Kancey on the Buccaneers is short. and these are the ones off the top of my head..
Football Evolves.. Shorter, quick, STRONG defensive tackle can be hard to handle because of the lower pad level, burst and power.. They can win the leverage battle on bigger longer athletes..

I said that is what I think. I know the way these zone heavy teams run. There is a reason Bowen has good defenses against the run. Part of that is the CBs helping in run support. That has never been his game so he is at a huge disadvantage right off the bat. Second was health. He's is banged up a lot and that may continue if he has to support the run. He also was really drafted as a slot. He is obviously not playing that position anymore. He was also drafted for Wink's system, not Bowen. All these things are working against him. We have also heard him getting torched in practice constantly. I said I am taking that with a grain of salt as there is more that goes into that than just hearing beats comment on it. What I did say is that if that continues to hold true then he isn't adding much to this team. We already know that we are in the market for another top CB so I fully expect them the draft a CB. So, yes, I stand by my comment that there is a solid chance he doesn't make the team next year. It's up to him. I didn't say this year. But next year he definitely could be off the roster. It isn't that I am giving up on him. I'm just pointing out the current situation.

Not an unusual take at all. I can absolutely see that happening. Thought he was starting to pick things up during the scrimmage as the week went on. Outside different from inside.
The coverages I think he will get. But you are right, if he does not tackle well, it will not be tolerated. The other CB seem to be able to tackle.

It was Nubin, you're correct. Owens knocked the snot out of a rookie receiver and then made the tackle on RB.

7s....belton played well vs lions and had a really good camp- he and nubin are in a battle....belton knock a lions guard on his butt in the game...nubin is intense and focused and impacts others with his effort

Biggest take from this was 5 batted passes in one practice. That's a huge number.
Only 1 by a lineman - Ojulari. The rest seem like PDs

No, if you watch the interview, it's the play I talked about with Nubin. Dottino got it wrong.
Touchdowns & Takeaways: Jason Pinnock notches another INT - ( New Window )

@DDuggan21
Notes from today's practice:
• The good from the offense: A deep TD pass from Daniel Jones to a then-healthy Malik Nabers running a post that split safeties Jason Pinnock and Dane Belton. A deep TD pass from Jones to Jalin Hyatt on a fade route against Deonte Banks.
The bad from the offense: Everything else. It was one of the sloppiest practices of camp. Jones threw a pass into a crowd over the middle that was intercepted by Jason Pinnock (third INT of camp). A forced pass to Nabers on a curl was nearly intercepted by Bobby Okereke.
Some of the misses from Jones were way off target. He had Darius Slayton running wide open in the back of the end zone in a red-zone period and the throw wasn't close. And it wasn't even a day with a ton of downfield passes. Devin Singletary led the starting offense with four catches.
Jones fumbled a shotgun snap while trying to run a QB draw on the offense's last rep of practice. Just not a sharp day at all.
• There was a lot of rotating with the center/right guard spots. Greg Van Roten started at C with Aaron Stinnie at RG. In the middle of some periods, Austin Schlottmann would come in at C and Van Roten would shift to RG. In other periods, Schlottmann would come in at C and Stinnie would stay at RG.
John Michael Schmitz took some reps at C in a walk-through install period. Can see where things are headed with Van Roten eventually displacing Stinnie at RG.
• TE Theo Johnson looked like a rookie today. Had multiple passes fall incomplete that hit his hands. A mix of drops and inability to catch inaccurate passes.
• It was equally shaky for Tommy DeVito pulling double duty as the QB for the second and third teams. Like Jones, some misses that were way off the mark.
• It's surprising to see Andrew Thomas give up a sack in practice because it never happened the past few years. But Brian Burns beat him twice today. One was on a screen, but Burns was on Jones so fast he likely would have blown up the play in a game.
• Tre Hawkins got some first-team reps at outside CB with Nick McCloud shifting into the Dime LB spot at times. As noted during practice, Tre Herndon was the first-team slot corner with Dru Phillips apparently getting a day off.
• Injury updates beyond Nabers: LB Dyontae Johnson (ankle) and S Elijah Riley (concussion) weren't spotted. QB Drew Lock (hip), CB Cor'Dale Flott (quad), S Gervarrius Owens (knee), LB Carter Coughlin (lower body) and Jalen Mills (NFI) worked on the side. WR Dennis Houston watched practice with his right hand in a cast.
In addition to Schmitz and Evan Neal, TE Lawrence Cager (hamstring) and OLB Tomon Fox (hamstring) returned after missing two weeks each. Fox would have had a sack of DeVito in the last team period.
Jim Burt.
Also Tim Krumrie of the Bengals.
That’s an interesting post.
Flott enrolled in an LSU program with a tradition of producing top NFL CBs, saw extensive playing time immediately on joining the Tigers, was starting as a thin, very young 19 year old sophomore and has flashed with the Giants. If he hadn’t made the perhaps rash choice to declare after his sophomore season, he would have likely been a 2nd rounder the season after. I know 2nd rounders bust all the time but Flott isn’t some JAG.
Let’s keep discussing this as the season goes on. I don’t have my mind made up. And I do realize the front office and coaches were talking about the 2nd CB being a need, so Flott has a lot to prove. But he’s an interesting prospect and is still very young.
Sad to see the summer of footie come to a close, been fun.
