Record Prediction for 2024 Season

JoeyBigBlue : 8/29/2024 11:17 am
Now that the roster is pretty much set, what is your record prediction for the 2024 season? What do you think will be a positive and negative for this season?

I’m predicting a 6-11 season. I think the O-Line is better, which will lead to more production from the running game. I still have a ton of worry on Jones as the starting QB and the young inexperienced secondary. If we get behind early, can Jones drive this team back? I really don’t think so.

If DJ plays the whole season and is pretty decent......
GiantBlue : 8/29/2024 11:58 am : link
8 or 9 wins.

If he goes down and we need Lock/Davito to finish out the season, I am much more pessimistic.

Of course, take away any one of Burns, Dex, Thibs, Nabers or Thomas (or any of the OL that happen to be an upgrade) and it gets much uglier IMHO.....

which may be what Schoen is hoping.....to get his QB in the draft.
I have said mine elsewhere

but will save it for our season preview show.
6-11

and I don't think DJ makes it thru the whole season.
4-13
kdog77 : 8/29/2024 12:34 pm : link
not going to believe Jones can turn it around and bounce back from 2 serious injuries in less than 12 months.
5-12
crackerjack465 : 8/29/2024 12:35 pm : link
I don't think DJ holds up a full season

On defense, I don't think we have enough depth to overcome any inventible injuries. If Kayvon or Burns miss any time, that secondary is going to get exposed.
10-7

If we get punched early
Bavaro_the_Mafioso : 8/29/2024 12:50 pm : link
We could be a 4 win team. With a little luck 8 wins.
10-7

This is a poker game, and I’m shoving my chips to the middle of the table. I’m raising the ante, and anybody who wants in, get in. Anybody who wants out can get out. This team is going to the playoffs, OK? This team is going to the playoffs.
7-10, unless they can win the first 2

very winnable games. Then I can see 9-8 or 8-9 and in the hunt for a WC in December.

Toth029 : 8/29/2024 12:54 pm : link
Always varies on injuries.

I do say 7-10 may sound reasonable but I wouldn't be shocked if they went 9-8 either.

Hello Daniel.
Between 7
Blueworm : 8/29/2024 1:13 pm : link
And 10 wins.

Most likely 8 or 9.
I'll pick 9
6-11 sounds about right
mfsd : 8/29/2024 1:19 pm : link
I’ve been overly optimistic in the past, but I don’t see us getting over inconsistent QB play. And, inevitable QB injuries…

Our defense will keep us in games, although our DBs scare me

I am going to say 8-9
nygiants16 : 8/29/2024 1:41 pm : link
if they get a slightly better version of Jones from 2 years ago they can win 10 games..

The secondary is young but i think they are going to be better than people think..

Also go look at the roster Daboll made thenplayoffs with 2 years aho, this years is much better
I am going to go 5 and12
Chris L. : 8/29/2024 1:52 pm : link
I think Daniel Jones struggles in an offense which needs him to consistently be able to throw the ball down the field. Really disappointed the powers that be did not provide us with a better back up QB situation. If Jones struggles it is going to get really ugly really fast.
I think they go 5-12, but
LW_Giants : 8/29/2024 2:02 pm : link
plus or minus two wins wouldn't shock me.
10-7 or 11-6
WillieYoung : 8/29/2024 2:16 pm : link
I don't think Phillie's collapse was a fluke. Replacing the best center in NFL history will not be easy. Teams will be able to scheme block Parsons as there is not much after him with their injuries (he'd never get off the line of scrimmage against a Parcells/Bellichick team).
maybe we get 4 wins
kelly : 8/29/2024 2:28 pm : link
I look at our schedule and I don't see more than that.

Another long season in the making.

And if we don't both of the first two games then maybe only 2 wins.
8-9

Somewhere between 4-13 to 6-11
The_Boss : 8/29/2024 4:22 pm : link
So I’ll split the difference and say 5-12. It’ll be apparent our season is toast again by mid October as our pre bye schedule eats us alive.
8-9
Breeze_94 : 8/29/2024 4:33 pm : link
Think the offense will surprise some people and finish top half, while the defense will struggle giving up big plays in the passing game.

The schedule is surprisingly tough for a team that finished 3rd in its division.
5-12
Hammer : 8/29/2024 4:49 pm : link
The secondary is going to get lit up early and often.

Jones playing from behind consistently is going to be painful to watch.

I'll predict that Jones makes it through 9 games before he is out with a major injury and Luck lasts three games. DeVito finishes up the season.

Last year it was the Giants offense that was hystorically bad. This year it'll be the defense.
6-11
JayBinQueens : 8/29/2024 5:02 pm : link
And both sides of the DJ coin will have their ammunition to further dig in their trenches
12-5

6-11
Route 9 : 8/29/2024 5:21 pm : link
They'll start out the season with some awful record again like, 0-7 or 1-6, Jones gets hurt again.

Which means, they'll start winning more to boot then out of a top 1-3 pick. I think this is, finally, the end of the Daniel Jones era.
5-12
X : 8/29/2024 5:44 pm : link
I was so optimistic last year, so I'm going the other way in 2024. Secondary is not good and I'm not sold on the O.

That only works once.
5-12 and that's being optimistic
GeofromNJ : 8/29/2024 6:01 pm : link
Jones is unable to see the secondary and tertiary receivers and if the primary is covered, he'll check off or take off. He may actually be benched at some point, but Lock is not an improvement. I don't trust Schmitz's shoulders. If Theo Johnson is not able to master the essentials of an NFL TE, the Giants have no effective TE. Unless the pass rush is able to get to the QB, most teams will march down the field facing little resistance. Another year of non-competitive football.

xtian : 8/31/2024 11:45 pm : link
Have no idea how DJ will play. he could be a #10 type QB or a #30. he also could get his neck injured and have to retire.
the OL seems better, but we've been cursed the last decade or so.
i'm excited about the speed and potential of the WRs, but it's so young there's bound to be lots of ups and downs.
the DL has to be better with burns, don't they?
LBs should be ok unless okereke gets hurt, then it's in deep trouble.
the secondary is also very young and therefore unpredictable.

we are a few injuries from another disaster 4-13 record, but if we remain healthy and DJ plays well we could be 10-7 and in the playoffs. i have no confidence in predicting where we will end up.
Most people herre are pointing to the QB...
DefenseWins : 9/1/2024 6:03 am : link
and while yes he has a huge impact on the team's performance, that is not what will be the difference between this year and last year.

We already had lousy QB play last year.

If we can control the line of scrimmage this year on both sides of the ball, we will absolutely win more games even with Jones at QB.

If we can run the ball and create shorter down and distance situations on 3rd down, we will score more points.

To me, the key here is what we have done with the OL this off season and whether it will result in improvements on the field. Between the free agents and new OL coach.
9 - 8 and last playoff spot
SGMen : 9/1/2024 7:26 am : link
First, I believe in the "bounce back" year where you come off a year where just everything went wrong especially early in the year and I think we cleaned things up an awful lot.

1. Team Psyche - new DC and morale should be improved. TBD
2. Health - you have to hope we stay healthy, unlike last year when we lost our best players early (Thomas, Jones, Barkley) and the schedule was brutal.
3. Offensive Line - veteran group and better depth even amongst Neal, Ezedu with another year under their belts. They must stay healthy and youth must develop.
4. Speed - this team is FAST, especially on offense and we can create matchup problems. But can Bellinger be that easy short target to keep drives alive?
5. Young team will improve as year moves along.

Start 2 - 0 or its over with a six game stretch against solid teams. If we start 2 - 0 and somehow surprise and go 3-3 or at worst 2 - 4 to be .500 at 8 games in we will be on our way to a winning record.

Jones must stay healthy and protect the ball.
I don't like predicting records but i'll play
djm : 9/5/2024 10:31 am : link
8-9

Jones throws for 3500 or so yards. Throws around 23 Tds and rushes for 4-5 more. The offense scores 385 pts. Some ups and downs--roller coaster type season--we fail to close out a big game late in the year but battle throughout the season. Definitely a step up from last year but not quite there yet.

Giants let Jones sit on the last year of his deal or maybe extend it for one more season just to alleviate some of the pressure of weirdness--and they draft a QB within the first 2 rounds of the 25 draft.

Nabers goes for around 90-1100-8. Robinson 60-700-4.

Burns and Thibs combine for 20. Corners kill us but the D shows staying power and potential--just needs another off-season.
10-6...

pleasant surprises of the year
djm : 9/5/2024 10:38 am : link
goes to Theo Johnson, JMS and McFadden on defense. Theo gets a lot of RZ time and takes advantage of single coverage. 6+ TDs for the rookie. McFadden takes advantage of all that free space and ties for the lead in team TFLs with 16 along with Burns. JMS finishes slightly above average as a starting center, that's good enough.

We love Nubin by week 2-3.

20-0

We've added quite a lot of talent and some competent coaching (OL, DC) to the team that won 9 two yrs ago (last yr was a clusterf*^k for many reasons, so forget about it).

Compare this OL (and OL coach) and WR corps and add Burns, Okereke and Banks to the D that won a road playoff game in Jan. '23 and it's really not that hard to imagine 10 wins.

Feels like 7-10 to me
