Reunion: The #Giants are re-signing old friend CB Adoree' Jackson, per me and
@MikeGarafolo
, as his free agency ends right where it began with a 1-year deal.
The 28-year-old waited for the right opportunity and finds it with the team he’s played with for the last three seasons.

That could also read as 'The Giants have no confidence in starting CB opposite Banks so signed someone who they had no interest in retaining at the end of the '23 season.'
to think. He does not seem to meet Bowen's tackling requirements.
I put this in the other thread... He only had about a 7.5% combined for '21/'22 miss tackle rate compared to 12.5% in 2023, while having 113 tackle in 23 games for '21/'22 which is pretty good for a CB.

At the end of '23 he was looking for 8+ Million... I would bet we got him cheaper than that.
But they had moved on from this guy, so this certainly feels like a step backwards. Jackson didn't appear too interested in playing football for long stretches of last year. Maybe he pulls a rabbit out of his hat and plays more like '22 than '23, who knows. What I do know is that I have more faith in the coach than I do the GM.
But what does a room like this do to morale? Guy isn’t on the team all offseason, misses all of training camp, and like two days later he’s back.
Do guys in the locker room care? Any resentment? Or as long as he helps them win, no one cares?
No he wasn't trying to skip training camp... He was trying to get a big contract and he failed. So he choose to come back here on a cheap 1 year to try and test the market again next year.
Knew about the CB2 situation. Clearly. Schoen was questioned about it ad nauseum the past few weeks. Jackson's value is probably the lowest it will be, and he got himself a prove it deal. We'll see what Jackson does to solidify himself.
I wanted him back. He’s better than what we had and now with Dru Phillips it seems like we have upgraded. He didn’t play well last year but neither did a lot of guys. I know they are professionals but it’s hard to stay focused in a disaster season.
If you are questioning this signing you should go look at some comments from fans in Carolina about Burns. Many feel he took a lot of plays off and even he admitted it was tough to stay focused. It’s not great to hear for either player but hopefully we can start strong and keep the guys motivated for a playoff run.

Float should care. He had every opportunity to prevent this.
Mentioned in the other thread, but interested in what # he'll wear
His NYG #22 is taken by rookie Dru Phillips.
The #2 he wore at USC is (presently) occupied by Drew Lock.
He wore #25 w/ the Titans, and that appears available.
As bad as he was last year, he is still better than what they have at CB2. And the secondary is so young his veteran leadership is needed. Let's hope we get vintage 2022 Adoree Jackson, renewed and refreshed after a bad 2023 and a lot of time to reflect on his legacy in this league...
feels like draft, free agents and waiver wire claims
Not like quality CB1 and CB2's are sitting around waiting for a call. Sometimes, as Stephen Stills sang back in the 70's "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with."
He fits a need. Let's hope he turns out to be one of those great surprises!
The other guys had their chance to win the job
Adoree is the better option
And those worrying about the morale of the other CBs
They had their chance
What about the morale of the other 50 guys who want to win?
Joe is loco if we gave him $8 million, which I don't even think we could give given the salary cap.
It is what it is. He's now a Giant. I'm just hoping that he morphs into the '22 version of himself. That'd be huge.
That is what he wanted at the beginning of FA... I am sure he is making a lot less and I would bet the Vet Min... He got no action because his '23 year was down, but his '21 and '22 were really good for us.
Jackson is experienced and was always well liked amongst his teammates. He is only 28 and let’s face it, a lot of guys had a tough year last year when the team was just so bad.
I’m optimistic that we will see the 2022 Jackson and the Jackson that first got us all excited when he signed with the Giants from the Titans.

The front office paved the way for McCloud, Flott, or Hawkins to win a job and they didn't. They created an opportunity for the player and no one took it.
and Hawkins didn't seize the opportunity to be the #2 CB. I remain hopeful, but as of now those two, Ezeudu, and Neal have not produced much. McKethan was also cut.
It also tells me how little faith there is @ the CB opposite Banks. And Banks-from all accounts-didn't have the greatest summer either.

Maybe more hopeful, but I assume this had to be discussed.....
No one came knocking....so he knows, his career is close to the end.....so he needs to go all out or this will be his last year.
Neither the Giants nor Adoree wanted this.
So it's more a necessity....a mutual need.
Can be a win/win.

Should have happened weeks, if not months ago

I share the same sentiments. I’m hoping that the lack of interest lit a fire under him because ability isn’t the issue here.
then they got remarried oh well were better now than yesterday.
I don't want to see Nick Mcloud on DeVonta Smith no thanks. Welcome back Adoree
If we have the pass rush we expect, this could work out fine.
Cloyd released

This is the single best thing I’ve read so far in 2024 😭
Let's just hope it's b/c he feels like Adoree will help the team, rather than that Slayton has missed toasting him in practice!

Not sure resentment comes into play here.
Giants Re-Sign Adoree’ Jackson, Re-Sign Gervarrius Owens to Practice Squad - ( New Window )
Mostly joking but it’s possible
