Another interesting match-up for this holiday weekend.
LSU has their usual embarrassment of riches on both sides of the ball to watch.
On offense, Garrett Nussmeier is the new QB he's got a nice toolbox to keep an eye on. He's nowhere near the runner of Daniels, but he has excellent arm talent. On the OL, LSU has two studs in Will Campbell and Emery Jones.
At the skill positions, Mason Taylor, son of Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, is a nice-looking TE prospect. And I like Kyren Lacy has an underrated prospect who can play multiple spots at WR.
On defense, they have a decent Edge guy in Paris Shand. And they have a great inside LB in Harold Perkins, one of the best defenders in the country.
For USC, after Williams skipped the bowl game, Miller Moss came in and lit Louisville up for 6 TD passes. Miller isn't a big QB, but anytime a QB is under Lincoln Riley's tutelage, you have to pay attention. Johan Monheim is a nice-looking blocking T on the OL.
On D, Bear Alexander is a good-looking, versatile DT prospect.

Agreed. They could end-up playing old fashioned smash mouth football on O. Kelly is a tremendous offensive mind.

He has some serious arm talent. I like his pocket poise.

I don’t think it was the celebrating that drew the flag. It looked like as he was passing the USC players he made some type of shooting gesture. Similar to Penix and his arrow shooting but this looked almost like cocking a shotgun and he directed it at the opponent.
I thought it was a good flag and no need for any taunting and gestures like that.

Let’s not get too excited. The USC defense was 121 out of 130+ teams last year. Even lower than UCONN (20 spots lower) let’s not annoint her the heir apparant to DJ just yet. Let him do this against a quality defense (yes USC looks better) but with 2min left they only have 17 pts. If DJ has 17 points on a game he is run out of town. Plenty of time.

D'Anton Lynn looks like a great hire as their DC.

I was impressed by their physicality on D, especially their CB Smith. He came up and made some big hits in the run game and looked more like a safety on them than a CB.
Really good game especially for an opener.
Kelly looked really happy about it during the post-game media session. He tried to knock out the table.
The OBJ special was one thing, but he made the clutch catch taking a targeting shot on the winning drive and held on setting up the score. That’s a hell of a pair of plays on a big stage.

Yeah, he was brilliant last night. Athletic and tough. That OBJ catch in traffic was out of the world.
You guys have a very manageable schedule. It's one of the softer ND schedules I have seen in a long time.
No excuses not to make CFP. None.
As far as WRs go college has been churning out top end guys for 10 years. Sadly QBs and OLs are a mess. You can't over reach at any position. Every time you miss at Qb you set your team back 3-5 years.
AZ reached for two in the top 5. Now they are over paying a guy who may never a playoff game. Making 100 million dollar mistakes over an over you would thing GMs would learn
But either way, the comment about churning out WR’s is just a talking point of certain Giant fans who didn’t want the Giants taking Nabers, nothing more
