Heads Up.... Really good Inside BBI with Paul Dottino

Eric from BBI : Admin : 9/3/2024 8:47 pm
We want to drop it tomorrow morning, but this was a very good exchange with some very interesting insights on Hard Knocks and the 2024 New York Giants.

Paul gave us more time than we originally scheduled because the conversation was so good.
because its w/ BBI

I am going to download. On Giants official comms Dottino is way to rose colored glassed for me to listen too. I'm sensing here he is a bit different.
I've

So I am going to say something
jvm52106 : 9/3/2024 9:34 pm : link
That is meant in general but fits for Paul too.

I ask that people here post your thoughts, your arguments etc but please do not get personal, do not attack the person- attack the point or argument and please note folks look at BBI before agreeing to come on.

Again, not trying to be an ass at all but I am working really hard ( 42-45 hrs on my day job then chasing guests, recording episodes, posting the episodes and then trying to promote them)so the channel/podcast and even BBI grow. It isn't easy, we are not established in the podcast world BUT our reputation (Eric's with the site and mine with past broadcasts and channels) is very solid. You all will be pleased with the folks I am working on to come on the podcast..

I hope nobody is offended by my post, I just want us seen as the knowledgeable fanbase, the more than fans podcast that gives us all an eye, a connection into the Giants that we would not have had before..

I'm sorry you feel that way. He's covered the team for decades and has special access to the club. In other words, he sees and hears things that others can't.

If one listens, I think you can get a lot out of this interview.

You and Eric have done a nice job thus far. I've watched most of the shows and the content has been very solid. But that interview with Marshall really impressed me with how prepared you were with questions, and then giving Marshall a lot of space to talk.

I'm no broadcast expert, but letting guests do most of the talking and not getting in their way is the ideal way to have a conversation. IMV.

John and I had a conversation about this very subject tonight. Our goal is to let our guests talk and let the interview "breathe."

I think we've done OK at this but will get better.

Apologies if my comment is offensive, I meant the opposite. Because of the BBI connection I want to listen. Another way of saying it is, there are many options to listen to. It’s not possible to listen to them all, unless someone has a lot of discretionary time. My window is an hour a day total. Normally, with all the choices, I pick the ones I think is most interesting. The combination f personalities make it worth the choice. If that isn’t viewed positively I just won’t post on these threads, but I gave you buys a 5 star on Spotify and commented positively on Spotify as well, so you might want to factor in people are trying to help you and give you positive publicity.

In general ratings and comments subscriptions and downloads help grow podcasts from my experiences.

No no, it was just another one I saw head that way and just some stuff shared with me by guests and potential guests.

I am not calling anyone out just letting you all know what could work against us.

Thank you so much. We try to be prepared buy honestly knowing the Giants is the easy part, knowing how to set up the guests, open the door for them to talk and then smoothly transition from subject to subject that is the part that keeps me on my toes.

Again thank you for the kind words..

Like a poster said you let your guests speak not interrupting them like a lot of podcasters do.
Looking forward to PD.
Eric - I'm very proud of you and John.

An OG compliment!!!- TY TY.. You were there with BBI Online Live and here now with Inside BBI. In some ways it is so weird how easily Eric and I picked back up from where we were.. I struggle with some "regret" that we didn't keep this going way back when but may be it was supposed to be this way.

I think you are developing/evolving your pod/video cast nicely.

The only suggestion I have (and I have tried to stay out of this : ) ) is to pace your releases. Dropping three 1 hour plus podcasts within a week is a lot

Yeah, to be fair, it wasn't planned that way. In fact we had to juggle and that moved things to a back-back-back situation.
Very good listen

Interesting. I have to say I should have said in the past you guys are terrific- big time fans and gentleman with a ton of knowledge. Appreciate all your hard work.

As for Paul—he is terrific guy, but I’m sorry he is going to only look at positive. John when you asked him about Maye he dismissed it calling it “cursory.” Then 1 of you, I think Eric you followed up and made mention how much you heard the Giants offered. If we’re to believe how busy JS is, which I believe, then does anyone really think JS is going to offer at least multiple #1’s and maybe more as cursory even though his time is so valuable? I don’t.

Then when John asked about if Giants were caught ff surprise with their success – Paul imo is wrong yet again. Which is why I can’t trust him. Not that he is lying not at all. But why go after the aging Tigh End? Going into 2022 the OL was not good. And even with the team success in that season leading to 2023 that season they were not good. If they were rally looking long term then why sign a Tight End s banged up as Waller was, why trade a 3rd pick? And if they were so concerned about long term then why sign a QB that wants to put into his contract that if he gets hurt and his career is over he gets paid additional time? He is a young QB, yet he has this concern and we’re to believe this is a good “long-term” signing plan?

**In fact it’s such a good long-term plan that JS felt a need to take the time out of his busy day this past year, after 1 year with Jones, to “just make a cursory offer” to New England? Granted going after Maye is being competent in term of mgmt. to test things, but after this one year with DJ in 2023, you are already looking to dump picks for Maye? Well, if jones health such a concern, and you are supposedly looking long term why is a team so focused on long-term going with a $40m QB that has a very real possibility of his career ending on any given day?

And his comment about fans that think Mara makes the decisions. First off, what kind of an owner doesn’t feel he should be making decisions on his most expensive employee? OFC not all his voice but certainly a lot, wouldn’t that be at least reasonable to believe? And unlike Paul’s assertion that maybe fans are listening to a Janitor, maybe some are, but some also have seen / experienced that Mara has already done this with Eli.

And as far as Barkley, I can’t remember the sentiment other than SB probably didn’t like 2023 contract. In fact weren’t the top RB’s other than McAffrey all holding out that year? And wasn’t there discussion how they were all getting undervalued? So, Barkley taking less money for a home discount for a team he probably felt didn’t pay him as much as he felt he was worth while taking less money he further undervalues the RB spot, and yet someone like Paul with his vast knowledge of football, felt surprise that SB wanted the money? You mean nearly other giants players and nearly all other NFL player’s aren’t in it to make more many especially when they feel they and their position are being undervalued?

I do think in a way Paul is in a tight spot and has to do say things as best he can. Seems like a very good guy.

He confirmed what I've pointed out about him for years

There's time when he has inside info, and there time he's posting opinion. You have to deduce when is which.
