Will he be dancing, getting stuffed, or does he perform with all star acumen running/playing for the first time behind an O line not ranked 32nd? Not incompetently coached?
but more about the Eagles in general. That team lost to the Giants last year and what 6 straight Ls? Are they over whatever that was. Losing Kelce will hurt I think. They have tons of talent though, we'll see how they look, that GB team is no gimme.
No reason to dance if there is actually a hole there to run through
But you'd think he's the love child of Barry Sanders and Walter Payton. He'll do fine if he's not injured. Singletary will do fine too.
Comparing what Singletary has done in the Josh Allen-led offense and CJ Stroud-led offense with legit playmakers at the skill positions to Saquon with what this team has had at QB and a lack of talent at skill positions is foolhardy.
Singletary was not the weekly focal point of opposing defenses. They had a lot more to worry about. The same is not true of Saquon, he was the only player on the field most of the time that opposing defenses had to account for and game plan for. The situations that these two backs have been in could not be more polar opposite.
Now Saquon finds himself on a squad where defenses have to worry about Brown and Smith and Goedert, with much better OL and QB play than what he had with NY. Ironically, outside of QB, the Giants have fixed many of the deficiencies (seemingly) that persisted under the majority of Saquon's tenure in NY.
All that said, I expect we'll see an explosive Saquon and a dynamic season, health permitting.
in how Hurts does under the 3rd OC in 3 years now with Kellen Moore. Barkley is likely to get ignored for stretches based on how Moore likes to run the offense with a pass happy approach.

Someone who actually thinks about what the opposing DC is thinking about. Refreshing.
He’ll rip off one 30 yard run; everyone will call the Giants stupid
i dont have a strong feeling re what to expect of him this year in philly.
i think it's possible he sets new career highs in everything just because the philly offensive line is that much better than anything he's run behind before.
i think it's also possible he's sort of similar to the last 2 years, misses a few games along the way, and mixes into the gumbo of philly having a disappointing year and sirianni's seat getting hotter. as a team i think their macro risk is dream team part 2, and i could see him being a part of that narrative. especially if the kelce loss ends up having an outsized effect on their OL/offense. or 1 of their WRs gets hurt and now the offensive isnt as explosive as years past.
i lean more confident to his floor being that of last year with him hitting some level of upside most dont expect, but that's mostly bc thats how things have gone for philly in the last decade.
Barring injury, Barkley will be the 2024 NFL all pro running back
Funny how all of the offensive excuses these past five years have only applied to DJ and not Barkley. Now Barkley has the OL, surrounding weapons and elite quarterback to be the explosive back he was always destined to be.
One thing to remember about running back by committee. The same rules that ultimately resulted in the sub-prime mortgage crisis applies here: just like a diversified portfolio of crap mortgages does not make for a AAA rated mortgage backed security, a committee of average running backs does not translate into an elite backfield. On the contrary, it actually translates into a backfield for which defenses do not need to game plan.
Committees work when you have elite specialists who complement each other's respective talent and create matchup problems for the defense. Achane and Mostert. Kamara and Ingram. Jacobs and Bradshaw. Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen. Jim Taylor and Paul Hornung.
does stay healthy as well as most to the key players then he will surpass 2k total yards imv. Stoutland has an excellent running scheme and the Eagles are committed to it. Kelce leaving may have an impact but hard to see that OL approaching anything like what the Giants had last year. SB has never played behind a high quality OL that also happens to have excellent skill talent. Lot for D's to have to account for.
I think early year Barkley will look fabulous, until he sprains his ankle.
Funny that this is the first post. Was about to post something similar.
I think Saquon will have a strong start with Philly, but he's a guy whose play really dips when he gets banged up. I think Barkley from Weeks 10 on will be pretty average outside of a couple big runs.
I hope he gains 2000 yards and the eagles lose every game. All that said, he wanted to stay until they no longer valued him. He played for some terrible teams and horrible offensive lines. With all those weapons he will see less attention. Here he was the only hope, there he is just another weapon. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have 3-4 outstanding seasons.
I thought he looked like he lost a lot of his pop last year. But I also think the Eagles are pretty smart. One of those things I'd going to be incorrect in this case.
But you'd think he's the love child of Barry Sanders and Walter Payton. He'll do fine if he's not injured. Singletary will do fine too.

Eh, Barkley is better than Singletary. He'll do well in Philly. The NFL is no longer a running back league and Barkley frankly is not McCaffrey. He had one amazing season and one really good one. Everything else was injury riddled and good not great. I can't believe how many Giants fans think he's some superstar. He's good and injury riddled. That's it. You could see that even in 2022 he was nowhere near as explosive as he was in his rookie year. That player no longer exists. If we lost the Barkley from 2018 I could see how people are upset, now meh. One of the most forgettable star players in Giants history.
i think he'll run out of bounds twice when the Eagles are trying
The biggest constant in the Eagles run game in the Michael Hobbs era has been Hurts running the ball. Barkley is a better running back the previous two characters they've had, so for the period of time he's healthy that will be a lethal running combination.
He absolutely balled out. Yeah he may have a better oline and weapons around him for more favorable matchups, but he was damn good regardless.
He did have a damn good game but the effect of having other fantastic talent alongside him and him being the number 1 priority of Defenses to stop every game can’t be underestimated.
Here he was always the main thing D’s concentrated on and wanted to stop. Loaded boxes with no real outside threat to worry about.

100%. And now he has a very good line in front.
Barkley is a very good back who should have his best season with the
Eagles ol to make holes for him to run through and their excellent wideouts to make it hard for other teams to load the box against them. But I'm glad we let him go and used to cap $$$ to upgrade our ol and to sign Burns.
RE: Green Bay has a new defensive coordinator and an
Caught passes, ran hard, had explosive plays, and basically led them to the win. People will focus on the big plays, but he had a number of hard runs that made a difference, including the winning TD. He overcame poor blocking to still get it

But there is if he's in the land of samba! Sorry, I couldn't resist...

10 rushes, 9 net yards, zero receptions, 2 holding penalties, 2 sacks allowed.
I agree.
Mark down the date and time.

Singletary and Tracy? We'll see.
Better to let go a year too early than a year too late.

I'll be interested to see if his production is any better than Miles Sanders or Swift.
LOL yes, every Giant running back would average something no regular Eagles back has accomplished in the modern era.
This is definitely worth keeping in mind.

This.

You do realize the Eagles lost their Hall of Fame C to Kelcee. And now Mekhi Becton is the starting RG.

would average 6 ypc behind that OL. Something to keep in mind.

Damn phone. Should read T.Kelce.
It will be interesting to see if Barkley can stay more healthy in Philly.
And, predictably, banged up
(He got most of the $$$ that it was going to re-sign Barkley); and Singletary (who replaced him) at least tread it.
24 rushes/109 yards/2 TDs
2 recptions/23 yards/1 TD
Very good game, but he's not going to lead the league in rushing after 1 week
Was he great ?, No, but he, in my estimation, did better than fine against the 10th best defense (the Packers), in 2023.

Yikes on both defenses. Sloppy game
