If he can stay healthy and play 17 games. But that second part is the part that I would not put money on. He is absolutely a high performance machine, but one that is very prone to breaking down as well.
both teams gave up over 400 yards in offense...lets not pretend SB was getting the tough yards against a dominant defense. Look back at our game against the packers in 2023...SB had 89 yards on 20 carries..2TDS.4.3 yards per carry...last night 24 carries 119 yards...3TDs...I would stay thats pretty close...so lets step off the ledge
Gainwell had like two in one play. With that said, Barkley was running hard and moving piles. Did anyone expect anything different? With a great OL, he will put up numbers if he stays healthy. This was never in question. This is a situation where it made sense for both parties to move on.
Means absolutely nothing. He’s a somewhat better than average back. Any number of other players could have done what he did including most likely Motor.
Even though Hurts did what he could to give away the game. Hope Giants/Jones responds - but they haven't played well at home. That needs to change immediately.

Any number of RBs can catch 20 yd TD passes in double coverage?
Giants put the cart before the horse drafting Barkley and playing him behind terrible o lines.
Not necessarily. You can do both. You can draft/sign a talented playmaker and make sure your trenches don't go to pot. If your OL is subpar, both pass and run games will suffer.
At his recent best - which was probably last season against the same Packers.
On one nice run where he made one cut and took off, he had a 4 yard wide hole. It was probably a bigger hole than he'd seen his entire career here. Good for him. He's a good fit on that team. We all know that.
I didn't see anything surprising or particularly scary. After watching that game, I'm still more comfortable with our current RB situation than with SB plus crap.
Both team's defenses were sieves. If the Eagles defense plays like that all season, Barkley could run for 2,000 yards and it won't matter.
With a quality team and a HC who believed and is committed to the run game SB is capable of being a 2k plus total yards RB.
His team and SB himself will have to stay healthy.
Wasn't a fit in Air Daboll's system that places a higher value on passing and then having the QB having to provide 25-35% of the run game in his gimmicky shotgun Pass/Run option offense.
Last night Barkley scored three touchdowns and rushed for more than a hundred yards against a top five NFC team and a very talented defense. In his six year tenure with the Giants, Barkley scored three touchdowns in a game for the Giants exactly once - nearly six years ago on 11/18/2018 against Tampa Bay, a team that finished 5-11 for the year, a bottom five team in the NFL that year who actually selected fifth, one spot ahead of the Giants, in the 2019 draft.
Around like that damn chair.
There ain't no way Barkley should've ended up in an Eagle uniform.
Its hard to watch, this young man was a good Giant and it was on Schoen to find a way to get a deal done.
We let our best offensive weapon walk to our rival team, for nothing!
That is egg on thr face of this organization and we continue to be the laughing stock of the league.
Jones better pan out otherwise this goes from bad to even worse.

Barkley never had three touchdowns in a game in the DJ Era. Never. Not once. Saquon Barkley’s debut will renew questions about Giants’ failure to keep him - ( New Window )
Very talented defense? They were near the bottom of the league in run defense last year! Signing McKinney wasn’t the cure for that
The eagles are a wonderful offensive team. They don’t have the same defense from 2022 and it’s not even close. Good luck when they play teams like SF, Det and even Dallas or the rams. Good team, far from perfect and we know they are a little weird.
Let Barkley go nuts. I expected this. Won’t keep me up at night.
Thank God we have Barkley to bitch and moan about, and cry over spilt
is hilarious. Second, I’ll say this ‘til I’m blue in the face, but if you didn’t anticipate Barkley having a career year, you were lying to yourself. Possibly still are.
Two things can be true: Saquon is a great player and has a great year, and it was still the right move to let him walk. We’re a year away from getting out from under the DJ deal, to spend money on a back who will likely be out of his prime by the time we have a stable QB would hold both him and the franchise back.
Two more things can be true: It sucks he went to Philly, but I don’t need to hate the guy. This isn’t Steve Smith taking a 1 year deal to play for the Eagles while we were still contenders. There’s a human element to all this, Saquon had one shot left at a big contract, his son lives in Philly, and they gave him more guaranteed money and a better shot to win. I honestly can’t fault him too much. Did the Giants overvalue his position and overdraft him? Sure. But he always played his ass off for bad teams, and was the heart and soul of that miracle of a season in ‘22. I can’t hate the dude. Him and Sterling Shepherd were bright spots in an otherwise dismal 10 year period. Even OBJ had his warts.
Saquon’s always had immense talent, and been a genuinely good dude in a time where the opposite has often been true in the NFL. One thing I’m interested to watch, however, is how that gets on with Siriani.
He will be hurt by then
One game give it a break

Worry about the Giants winning on Sunday.

Lol, he did have a …. Nevermind

Seems doable

Should have traded him when they could.
That's on Mara.

Totally agree.
