You give him the end of the game to try and find a rhythm. But it's fairly clear,to everyone except the Giants that he just can't make decisions quickly enough to play QB in the NFL.
This is the 7th straight game that Jones wasn't able to get a TD in the first half, but today he raised his level of ineptitude by not scoring a SINGLE TD FOR THE ENTIRE GAME!
Bench him, cut him, or trade him, just get rid of him!!
Throw a stupid pick - check.
Throw more than one pick - check.
Constantly overthrow/underthrow receivers - check.
Miss wide open receivers - check.
Got happy feet - check.
is how much of a leash does Jones get going forward.
That was one of the worst QB performances I've seen in a while. Sadly its not a significant deviation from the median or mean of what we have become accustomed to with Jones.
I don’t normally think this way but there’s some logic to it.
If he’s healthy then there’s no reason to think the light is going to come on after all this time. This is who he is. Playing him is bad. Getting him hurt and having to pay his injury clause is worse. If he’s released, there’s no danger of triggering the injury clause.
Why not just bench him? Because then you have a QB controversy among a bunch of bad options. There’s probably be a controversy over Lock vs DeVito but at least that’s only two guys.
Random thought: Can DJ play tight end or RB? Can he be used like Taysom Hill?
in person. Daniel Jones is a fire drill on every play.
never comfortable with his reads, focused only on one side of the field.
The Giants ran a play today at the Vikes 30 where Jones had two men running free on the left....he didn't see either and threw into tight coverage on the right.
Looked like the same play he threw the 98 yard int vs Seattle.
He didn't look left at all.
...but yes, he should have been taken out after the final pick int the endzone.
Lock hasn't played since the first presesaon game, would have been a perfect time to get some reps during garbage time in case you need to make a move next week versus WSH.
This is just ONE example of multiple issues the head coach had today with a wide range of responsibilities he's failing this team.
wrs - were they able to get open? and they had some drops.
Daboll's play calling?
not defending Jones play but think this shit show was a group effort
Group effort indeed.
But in between the opening calls, the calls in the redzone after the turnover, the failure to throw some deep balls, the failure to go to hurryup/still running the ball down 28-6 in the third corner........
Daboll has seemingly lost his mojo from his rookie season. We saw it last year...he's coaching not to lose rather than to win (like he did versus TN).
If he doesn't trust the QB, then it's a double indictment of him not to play Lock - because Lock can't be worse than the performance I saw today.

This is a good point. It was garbage time by then, better to get Lock a few reps.
2. Is the pope Catholic?
3. Does the bear shit in the woods?
Besides I can't beleive Lock or DeVito are worse, I mean they have to be better than what we just saw. If not then bring in Tannyhill.

Compare that against what he did well:
-
Hm… looks like he should have been benched.

Two drops were due to shitty ball placement.

He's Jim Plunkett. No confidence.
This is actually really logical. You don’t want that injury clause affecting the 2025 cap.
I really dont think Daboll is going to stick with Jones regardless of what we think of Lock
It’s arguable that he should be taking any snaps due to the potential 2025 CAP ramifications in case of injury.
Be interesting to see if you're right.
