NYG Postgame (vs. Vikings) Transcript: Quarterback Daniel Jones

September 8, 2024

Q: Overall, what was your personal assessment of your performance in the offense today?

DANIEL JONES: Obviously not good enough. Didn't get in the end zone, scored six points. Didn't create much rhythm and flow for ourselves. I've got to be better, certainly got to play better, give ourselves more chances to make plays and execute more consistently.

Q: What did you see on the pick six there?

DANIEL JONES: Just trying to get the ball out to (wide receiver) Wan’Dale (Robinson).

Q: What was your conversation like with (Head Coach) Coach (Brian) Daboll after the game in terms of where things are and where things are going?

DANIEL JONES: I think we'll get in, watch the film and see what we can do better. See how I need to play better and go from there. But yeah, I think we're focused on that.

Q: How concerned are you that people want to replace you at quarterback?

DANIEL JONES: I'm focused on doing my job and playing as well as I can. So I've got to play better, I know that. And I'm focused on doing that.

Q: You seemed to have a number of throws that were kind of low and in the dirt over there. Was that just the little rut you got into? What was going on there?

DANIEL JONES: Yeah, I just got to keep my balance and make a good, accurate throw. So, I'm going to look at that and need to correct it.

Q: I'm sorry, I'm a little late. What happened on the pick six?

DANIEL JONES: Yeah, I was trying to get the ball out to Wan’Dale there on the screen. I'll look at it and see if I can get it out quicker.

Q: How would you describe your confidence right now?

DANIEL JONES: Good. I think I've got to continue to get into a rhythm and get going, complete some balls, get things moving. I think we've all got to do that and that will help us build confidence and keep going.

Q: Was that part of the problem today? It didn't seem like anybody, not just you, but anybody was getting into a rhythm on on offense.

DANIEL JONES: Yeah, I think obviously it's largely my responsibility to help us do that. Keep going, complete passes, move the ball. I've got to look at where I can be better. I think we all need to work to get into a rhythm and execute consistently down the field.

Q: Last year you had a tough Week 1 game and then a stretch where things didn't go so well. How do you prevent that from happening this year?

DANIEL JONES: I think it's about seeing where we need to be better and addressing those areas and then executing. It comes down to making the play, executing and getting going. I know we've got the guys to do that. Confident in myself, confident in the group and we'll go from there.

Q: How much did the overall play of the offense surprise you today, given the fact that it felt like you guys came out of training camp feeling pretty good?

DANIEL JONES: Yeah, obviously we expected to play much better than we did today. A lot of things we didn't do well, like I said. We had a good week of preparation, had a good training camp. We've got to look at the things we need to do better today and clean those up.

Q: Were there any glitches with Daboll calling the plays at all or anything along those lines?

DANIEL JONES: No, it was smooth.

Q: The fans seemed to get restless early as you guys struggled to get into a rhythm. How does that affect you guys when you're hearing the boos get louder and you're struggling to try to get things rolling? Plus, with some young guys on the team too.

DANIEL JONES: I think it's our job to give them something to cheer about and to play well, to execute. We take that seriously. They expect us to play well, we expect to play well. We've got to do that.

Q: Excuse me if I missed this, but did you talk about the interception in the end zone? Could you take us through that? Did you not see it or see it in a way?

DANIEL JONES: Yeah, just the screen out to Wan’Dale. Trying to get the ball out quick. Get it in his hands, let him run.

Q: How did it feel in the pocket today? The pressure?

DANIEL JONES: Yeah, I've got to do a good job of staying in there when it's good and moving and finding the soft spot. Look at where I can do that better. Something I'm always working on.

Q: What bothers you most about your performance today? When you look at it, what's the thing you'd like to take back most?

DANIEL JONES: The fact that we scored six points, didn't execute in the red zone, didn't consistently execute and move the ball. I think all those things.

Q: Was there a specific play that bothers you the most?

DANIEL JONES: No, I think I'll look at it and see where I need to be better. We need to improve, I need to play better.

Q: How did the line function today?

DANIEL JONES: Yeah, I thought they played well. I think we'll look at the film, see where I can help them out, see where we can do things better. We'll look at it. I think that'll be something to focus on this week.

Q: How do you think (wide receiver) Malik (Nabers) did in his first NFL game?

DANIEL JONES: Thought he played well. Made a couple big plays and some nice catches. I've got to find a way to get on the ball more.

Q: Was it discouraging?

DANIEL JONES: It's certainly frustrating and disappointing to get the result today that we did. I think for us, we've got to understand this is the first week and there's a lot of football to play, so we've got to clean it up. We've got to make some improvements fast and a lot of football to play, so that's what we're going to do.

Q: Is there anything you're looking forward to against the Commanders?

DANIEL JONES: Clean it up and playing better.
Fuck Daniel Jones

Hammer : 9/8/2024 6:13 pm : link
just retire when he's cut at the end of the year and move on to the next chapter in his life.

He has no future as a quarterback in the NFL.
I'm so sick of this loser

it's unbearable
At what point

Does having an incompetent QB effect this entire team.

I mean San Darnold just tore up our defense with a lot of capable players on it. Is that the result of them preparing against a QB who is not prepared.

Seriously, I know we can’t cut DJ because of the cap, but can we really afford to keep him?

I think you're making a mistake in regard to our defense. Other than a couple of linemen and a middle backer they've got very few competent players.

it's worse than everyone thinks it is.
Daniel if you read this

Listen bud you’ve beaten the game. $80m in the bank and you’re healthy. Maybe it’s time to take the $, retire and go home. You’re set for life.
Fortunately...

Jones is a hard worker, has the right personality to fit in NYC, and his teammates love and respect him.

So, all of those intangibles will certainly help Mr. One-Read bounce back next week.
lets move on

He's going to say the right things. He was bad. And he's not good.

tick tick tick. 16 games until we have a new official starter.
I hope he starts all 17 games

Let the organization (and the shill portion of the fanbase that made excuses for years) get what they wanted.
Had flashbacks to David Brown today with the throws in the turf

Danny Dimes is totally washed up. Suffers from David Carr syndrome
How in the world did Schoen and Daboll believe this guy could be their QB. Embarrassing!!!

The ironic thing is this might be the best path to securing a real QB in the draft.
