The team has unfounded blind confidence in Jones and keep trotting him out there not realizing he is a disaster while the players know. They will lose the team, fanbase, and probably jobs because of the allegiance to Jones.
This is why i dont think Daboll is going to be patient

They know he is hot garbage and the team stands no chance with him at QB. If his name was Tommy Maddox his ass would be out on the street. The air and spirit were sucked out of the players and fans right before our eyes and in week 1!! Usually that takes almost an entire season.
Jones was a mechanical mediocre QB before. Now he looks like a shell shocked shell of that player. Bench him for the love of all that is holy. Enough already.

Correct Jon C......Having a belief that your leader can get off his ass and bring us to wins....is not what these players feel.
Do you leave Jones in and tank the season? Or play Devito/Lock and win 4-6 games? The goal for this season has the be a top 3 pick in next years draft right?
Sold themselves on the narrative that poor Daniel just needed “weapons” and an o-line and then he would be a raging success. Call it hubris or poor analysis or poor self scouting, but they were dead, fucking wrong.
how many careers has this asshole killed? just imagine how many people whose careers were on an upward trajectory until they crossed paths with this fucking loser. HCs, coordinators, position coaches, gms. I wonder if he considers himself even a small amount responsible for that.

Joe and Brian are big boys. They're grown men who negotiated the deal to bring him back and knew what was going on. Injuries and all. They couldn't deal up a move up to draft Maye or liked a QB like Nix, McCarthy or Penix enough. Best choice in free agency was Drew Lock. Again, their choice after Tyrod bolted to NYJ (probably due to them going to DeVito last year but hey).

They can not afford to have Jones get hurt because of next years cap situation
He will be replaced very soon and let the year play out.
+2. Daboll risks losing the rest of the team if he continues to play Jones. That will certainly be true IMO if he plays against Washington the way he did today.
All these young players are (obviously) on social media. They are inevitably going to be influenced by the entire free world trashing Jones after this game. And that’s aside from having been on the playing field with him while he shat the bed. I agree with you.
Sold themselves on the narrative that poor Daniel just needed “weapons” and an o-line and then he would be a raging success. Call it hubris or poor analysis or poor self scouting, but they were dead, fucking wrong.
After all these years, Gene, I still can’t get used to being 100% in agreement with you…but that’s exactly it. This franchise bet big on Daniel Jones, lost, and just doubled down.
Jon C has been noting for years that the Giants are awful at self scouting and that’s always been completely true as well.

It appears to me that the Giants have a very specific vision for how they want a qb to be. Jones fits that vision and Mara doesn’t seem to care whether or not he is productive.
how many careers has this asshole killed? just imagine how many people whose careers were on an upward trajectory until they crossed paths with this fucking loser. HCs, coordinators, position coaches, gms. I wonder if he considers himself even a small amount responsible for that.
This is headed for a total house cleaning come January. It's hard for me to imagine a scenario where there isnt. This team has zero direction and zero future as currently constructed.
Ain't no chicken soup to be expected from danny.....
cause.....we all know about his ingredients that never allows for success.....danny, take your millions and live long and prosper......(just not as a giant)....and be free to call yourself a "Giant Killer" when you roll down the dark window of your Benz.
After what happened when he left the stadium, I half expect
That DJ may choose to walk away. As in announce he is or will be retiring from football. I know that sounds insane, but if he himself believes he is not capable, and holding back the team, he seems the type who could walk away.

Is that all of this was 100% predictable if you watched last season. It’s as plain as day. All you had to do was watch other QBs have more success throwing downfield (and those other QBs were not great). Just so maddening.
The only thing that is going to make this shitshow even worse is when he inevitably gets hurt and the guarantees kick in. You know it’s coming. (And no, I’m not wishing for anyone to get hurt - I’m praying he doesn’t for a variety of reasons)
Regardless of what you have or now think about Jones, it is clear that he is simply no longer viable -- performance, locker room, fanbase.
This is going to be ugly, and the sooner they concede the obvious the better.
I anticipate a rebellion on the order of the Eli benching if this isn't resolved soon -- there is no more meaningful pro-DJ faction anymore.
Exactly. And as done with DJ as the fanbase is, I’m even more concerned about the players. How can they be expected to put their bodies on the line week in and week out to have this complete bum who plays at the level of a third string QB lose game after game for them?
Think about the fact that Tommy DeVito, a marginal NFL backup, defeated a pretty good Packers team on MNF last year and gave this team a huge shot in the arm, at least for a couple of weeks. Can anyone see DJ giving anything close to that level of performance at any point against any team this season? How would you feel as a player if that’s what you’re consigned to?
At least if Daboll goes to Lock or DeVito, he’s telling his team that he’s trying.
I can’t say that I disagree with this negative narrative about Jones
Jones was brutally bad. I think he’s mentally F**k*d for various reasons. In 2022 it looked obvious that he had the skill set to be a top ten QB. So, I understand why he received that contract.
He threw the fewest interceptions in the league in 2022. He stayed healthy, played every week, and won a playoff game on the road and looked like a star.
Now? Not so much.
The thing I don’t understand is where did is accuracy go? He used to throw the ball on a “dime” when he had decent protection. Now, he looks inept and beaten down.
I’m still going to root for him next week to have a shockingly
great game. 3 touchdowns passing and 1 rushing.
Do I think that will happen?
No.
But I’’m going to hang on to the hope that he bottomed out this week like Eli did
in the Darren Sharper Viking game in 2007. It’s doubtful that is the case but what else have we got?
I can’t stand thinking the team is done after game one.
They look like a mess and it doesn’t make sense because we have talent on both sides of the ball. Maybe not championship talent but a talent level that should at least be competitive.
If you think there is any change at QB we can make right now that will give us a chance to be competitive.
We all agree that Jones is not the answer. However, the answer at QB is not on this roster.
Cutlets is a nice story, but he is not an NFL starting QB. Lock isn't either.
I mentioned in other threads that we may make a deal before the deadline for someone else. Don't ask me who. I could say Cousins but we cannot afford his salary and Jones's at the same time.
Knowing Jones sucks going into this game, I think our discussions are better spent talking about areas of the team that SHOULD HAVE looked a lot better yesterday... the defense and OL.
Let's see how long it takes before Nabers gets totally frustrated and starts talking

If Daboll does not change to Lock/DeVito then he will lose the respect of the team and his job. The players are not going to come out and say it to the media, but we have had little signs of this. There have been reports of people friendly with the players saying they'd prefer Lock or DeVito.

I will say this:
If Jones looks clueless next week?
I’d rather see Devito than Lock.
Looked like a star?
No he didn't. He briefly looked like a competent NFL QB. Never a star.
at how poorly Jones played. He used to be a middle of the pack starting QB that could edge at the top 10, and also one of the better runners. What the hell happened? I guess injuries, the Giants trying to move up to draft a QB, and a constant nagging fan base. Regardless, he looks shot and will be given one, maybe two games to play significantly better. There's no way he lasts starting if this continues, which I'm afraid is a high probability. What a disappointment!
It sure looked and felt like it last season.
We saw it last year, how much the team played differently with Taylor or Devito..
Think about how deflating it was for the team when there was a tiny bit of momentum, Defense gets a stop and Jones immediately throws a pick 6

Has the coach?
Opening series.
Bonehead calls in the redzone where you should instead have specially designed plays to go after the Vikings.
Jim Fassel when to Danny Kannel pretty early in 1997 and I suspect the same thing is about to happen.

Only compliments you ever hear from teammates.
ordinarily you say it is only 1 game...problem here is we have seen this movie all to often

2nd down and five.....3rd down and five.......at the 50.
Throw the ball down the field to Nabers.....
The Vikes first TD...... long pass, bad call by the ref....TD
See what I'm getting at.

Head coach afraid or not trusting DJ?
If he doesn't trust DJ - why is in there in the first place?

Correct. No confidence in Jones, he turtles up, players know it.
This way we can go 0-17 and get that first pick which Schoen will crap all over

Jones doesnt even attempt that pass becaus ehe sees Pinnock over the top and goes to his check down becaus ehe reads it as covered..
That is why the offense will never work no matter who is calling the plays

Funny that you mention that play. I had two thoughts after that play ended.
1. I can't believe how great Darnold looks
2. I'm not sure Jones makes that read and throw
