Nabers, Slayton, Hyatt and Robinson were a track meet.

So we were told. They would help each other get open. Nobody was fast enough to cover Nabers. Yet here we are . Just like last year everyone was covered nobody was open and Jones was sacked 5 times.I know it's one game but I expected much better than this.
Everyone was not covered

Jones can't process or read a defense to save his life. This is all the QB. A competent QB will make this receiver group look very good.
Jones played himself into about 3 sacks
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/8/2024 10:17 pm : link
Im not rushing to blame them. Its probably more than fair to say he made the OL look worse with his play.
Enough
rsjem1979 : 9/8/2024 10:20 pm : link
You know what happens when a QB takes his drop and doesn't throw the ball?

He gets sacked.

Jones cannot process at an NFL level. He never could. He had NFL time to throw today and I lost count of how many times he just fucking stood there.
And theOL didn’t play
SoZKillA : 9/8/2024 10:20 pm : link
Horrible.

But Daboll coached an awful game.

Hyatt had 6 snaps.

We went 22 personnel way too much. We ran 2 man routes multiple times.
Jones is atrocious the debate is officially

Over.

Now what do we do for the rest of the season?
Perfect example of garbage Jones
nygiants16 : 9/8/2024 10:27 pm : link
First off he doesnt read the free blitzer pre snap, if he does he has simple dump off to theo Johnson right over the blitzers head and its an easy 10 yard gain..

Second after he escapes the blitzer he has 2 guys wide open in the flat and instead of throwing it he holds it and walks right into a sack..
here is the link

There is literally zero chance
moespree : 9/8/2024 10:29 pm : link
They were all covered on every single pass play.

Jones cannot process the field. He never could, and he never learned to. He simply has no idea what to do with the ball when it is snapped, and panics almost immediately.

It's why 90% of the time it's either a sack, a scramble, or a dump down for 2 yards.
Jones

can't make post-snap reads, and the entire league knows it. On many passing plays today, he was only looking to his left, even from the pocket. If his first or maybe second read wasn't open, he didn't know what to do. And the slightest amount of pressure caused wildly inaccurate passes.
You know why defensive players
Jerry in_DC : 9/8/2024 10:46 pm : link
Are so confident when they play us?

Here is the plan - we don't have to cover anything beyond 10 yards, and he is going to throw to the guy he is staring at when he gets the snap. Don't worry about anything- just run to the guy he is staring at.

There were also multiple times he had Nabers 1 on 1 and instead of attacking it, he stuck to the playcall or didnt even look at it..

Most QBs if they habe their number 1 guy 1 on 1 immediately attack it
Enough of this bullshit nobody is open
Matt M. : 9/8/2024 11:30 pm : link
I saw plenty of open receivers that never received a look. I also saw open receivers with balls thrown at their feet or 5 feet behind them. Just because Jones can't read a D before or after the snap doesn't mean other guys weren't open.
Tyrod Taylor
Kevin(formerly Tiki4Six) : 9/9/2024 12:04 am : link
Had no trouble pushing the ball downfield when he had time! It’s Jones!!!
RE: Tyrod Taylor
jamalduff123 : 9/9/2024 3:29 am : link
totally agree. Tyrod is ten times a better QB than Jones. That's what pisses me off. Why are we signing DJ to a big contract and letting Tyrod go? Jones is a problem, but so are Dabs and Schoen. We need a new regime altogether... again.

He rightly went for more money and the Giants rightly couldnt pay a backup that gets constantay injured to play behind a QB that gets injured.

And he got away with it to some extent because he could run fast. Now he can't.

We watch. We root for our team. We get sad and we get excited for the offseason. What else we gonna do?
Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to the dark side.
Even the greatest WR’s need a QB to get them the ball.
Section331 : 9/9/2024 2:11 pm : link
Nabers averaged 3.9 yards of separation, that is insane, even if Minny was plying mostly zone. The entire group had the highest average separation in the league yesterday. This is not on the WR’s this is on the QB.
Two things can be true here…
DefenseWins : 9/9/2024 2:20 pm : link
1. Jones is a bad QB
2. Our OL was allowing just a rush of 4 to get to Jones. This afforded the Vikingsntur ability to play a deep umbrella type of coverqge while allowing another defender to drop back.

Jones ran into their rush 3 times. They didn't get to him, he just doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
That was normal NFL pass protection
Jerry in_DC : 9/9/2024 2:41 pm : link
If a QB can't live with that, then he can't live in the NFL.
Stop expecting the QB to get 5 seconds in the pocket
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/9/2024 2:47 pm : link
He ran or walked into sacks. This is rookie level panic.

Hyatt had 6 snaps?

This time last year, we were very excited about him.

I think I had almost that many snaps.
