I thought he was supposed to be a decent pass blocker, no? It's not as though he was going up against a young Aaron Donald. What the hell happened out there yesterday?
(1) Are we to write off his performance as a one-off hiccup?
(2) Lack of reps playing next to JMS?
(3) Or did Joe Schoen misfire badly as he tried to patch a hole in his O-line with an over-the-hill 34-year-old vet after he failed to re-build the line through the Draft?
(4) Or did Greg Van Roten just get pulled down by the general suck of this entire franchise and his right-side buddy Jermaine Eluemunor couldn't pull him out of it?
(5) Something else?
Get rid of Bredeson and Glowinski and bring in the next turnstyle.
You can’t explain how awful this team is. The Washington Generals.
Frankly, I didn't think Thomas played too well yesterday. I only watched two quarters, but it wasn't Van Roten that stood out.
Numerous times he ran out of a decent pocket into pressure. I fricking hated that as a tackle. He never once threw to where a receiver was going to be as opposed to where they were. he will make any oline look bad.
[quote] I though the O line was decent. Not great but certainly nothing like last year, which is what I was hoping for. Having a QB with the Yips makes Oline not very relevant.

What he said!

And then they go elsewhere and play well.

... That being said, I thought the OL looked overall mediocre at best, which is way better than historically bad.
That’s a VERY low bar lol
What I have in my mind’s eye is the first half when he looked like a turnstile. Maybe his 2nd half was better?
The OL gave Jones plenty of NFL time. If we had a decent QB this whole offense would look different.
In the first half, there was time, a clean pocket, and the running game was serviceable.

mentioned that Jones was getting a lot more time than he had been in previous years.

2.5 seconds is league average.
If you notice on tv that he is getting time, its better than average.
no team energy. Giants play in a gigantic grey air conditioning compressor that they share with the Jets. It's boring, it smells, the team has no identity, no fandom. Giants are the Eeyore of the league...."thanks for noticing"
He was bad but not ‘ruin the game’ level bad.
