The Giants need to give Neal playing time at right guard.
Van Roten is on a 1 year contract they need to see if they need a new guard for next year
Neal is a good run blocker. The passing game will not improve no matter who is QB if the defense can control the run game with four players and drop 7
The guy played hurt two years in a row and was mis diagnosed by the medical staff who said he had an ankle sprain when he had a fracture. We know he will never be an all pro tackle- give the player a chance to show he can be a good guard.
Flowers was a good G. Becton sure looked good at G Friday night. We do need to see if Neal can play RG for a decent sample size this season to determine if he can play there next year or if he will be cut. If that’s not in the plans then cut him now

he's either a tackle or bust, trying to move him to guard is a waste of a roster spot because they shouldn't be used to teach a top 10 draft pick a new position three years after drafting him.

yes and theme is those players get cut and move onto a new team, I don't see why the Giants should buck that trend for Neal
And to say Flowers became a "decent" guard can only be said when comparing him to the shit he was a tackle.
But it's too late to begin transitioning him to guard this season. That will be for the offseason. And because he was the seventh pick in the draft, the FO and the coaching staff weren't going to do that except as a last resort.
Assuming Neal can be an effective guard, an OL of Thomas, Runyan, Schmitz, Neal, and Eluemunor could actually be quite good.

His movement skills could actually be an advantage as a guard and, like you said, he could be a huge asset in the run game.
This post made me angry because of how dumb it was. Players can change positions on the OL. It happens all the time. I never understood why people on BBI think that this is some unheard of crazy idea

and if Neal wasn't a top 10 pick I'd be with you. But there is zero reason to believe he will be successful at guard. Better to cut bait and start over with an actual guard who's played the position before.
Other than the fact the Giants drafted Neal and since we're fans we're supposed to support him, what exactly has Neal done since arriving to earn any goodwill here?
I didn't see him on the field often, but hard to tell with those uni's.
