Maybe it's time

For the Mara and Tisch families to sell this franchise. I believe the bad product they put on the field starts at the top. This team needs new energizing and motivating ownership, Mara and Tisch are as stale as they come. "The fish stinks from the head down"
Will never happen

I guess it's possible the Tisch family will sell their interest, but there's going to be someone from the Mara bloodline running this franchise forever.

It's a business that prints money and has been in their family for a century. The nephew is also being groomed to take over.
That isn't going to happen.
Section331 : 9/9/2024 12:41 pm : link
Our only hope is that the Tisch's worry enough about their investment to force significant changes - primarily getting the Mara's out of every aspect of team-building.
None of us or our kids will ever see a Giants team

without at least one Mara owning it

It isnt even worth talking about because it isnt happening. Ever.

The NFL needs a relegation component. The league is divided into two divisions. The top division has 20 teams and the bottom division has 12 teams.

At the end of the season the bottom 4 and top 4 switch leagues at year end.

This also will never happen. In fact the NFL went the other direction when they expanded the playoffs.
John Mara has actually dragged this franchise down to the point

where the Wilpons would be preferable!
They're never selling that team, nor should they quite frankly
j_rud : 9/9/2024 12:52 pm : link
But they can, and should, excuse every family member from anything related to football decisions.
These threads are comical

Unfortunately a lot of kids have grown up seeing the Giants as a joke. It’s how many of us feel about franchises like the Browns or Jets. Mara has lost a generation of fans. The NFL undoubtedly has been hurt as well. Where’s Pete Roselle!?!
Consistent losing in the modern NFL
SimmsToBavaro : 9/9/2024 1:38 pm : link
The model is almost designed for losing franchise to rebuild within a reasonable amount of time. It’s un fathomable how the Giants have sucked for over a decade. It’s nearly impossible! The chess pieces change but the results are the same. I used to think the Mara excuse was ridiculous. To not seriously consider it at this point is insane.
I agree ownership is part of the problem

They're the ones hiring these terrible GM's and coaches. They clearly have terrible judgment.

to look at the org chart. Our player personnel is, if not worst in the NFL, bottom 5 - and has been. So, who is in charge of player personnel for the Giants?

Senior Player Personnel Executive: Chris Mara
Director of Player Personnel: Tim McDonnell

You can say John as CEO meddles in football decisions, and that's probably a factor too. But the two top personnel positions are held by Maras. Sure, there's a GM too, but he's surrounded in his job by Maras.

I know the Maras are never going to sell, and it's certainly hard to fire family members, but I'm pretty sure these two guys are part of the problem and will be, unless they are replaced or kicked upstairs.

100%…nailed it. Ownership influencing player personnel is major problem. Even if they aren’t literally telling the GM who to draft or sign directly, their presence and opinions can be enough to influence the him. Keep the family members out of football ops!
Why would they sell?

The Mara's love owning the Giants. It's the family heirloom
Don't want to jinx anything, but
Beezer : 9/9/2024 4:05 pm : link
the ownership of the Knicks took a step back, hired competent people and you see the result.

The owners are fine. Maybe just take a step back.

I really don't know how I feel about this GM and HC after what I saw yesterday. Trying to remain calm ... I think by the end of the Browns game, we'll have all sorts of answers.

+1. Never going to happen. Not sure why it keeps getting brought up.

and their families will inherit the teams after them. They are making too much money to ever sell.
You don't just sell

No one thinks they’re actually going to sell the team. It’s also not necessary. They do need to purge the nepotism. It’s the only constant after several regimes.
