I think we should criticize how the organization handled the backup QB position this offseason.
Letting Taylor go, although he wasn't very good and injury prone, looks like it backfired. I think he's a better QB than Jones.
Lock has looked terrible all offseason and it has forced them to roster 3 QBs.
Now we have no option but to start Jones and it looks like the season will be a total loss.
At this moment, there is no hope because we don't have any QB that should be the future of this franchise.
How can we trust he will pick the right one next year....if he chooses to do so.
The problem is if you're Schoen/Daboll it may be someone else drafting and developing that person.
I think/thought Lock was a decent move. Not just relying on DeVito and going with a backup that has significant NFL playing time.
I think the jury is still out on Lock. Obviously playing poorly AND getting hurt is exactly what the Giants didn't want.
IF the Giants bench Jones, my guess is they have to at least initially go with Lock. But if Lock also struggles, I could see DeVito starting the following week.
He waited too long to pivot and any decent backups had other plans. Even if he expected Jones to play well, Schoen understands how critical the backup spot is given Jones's injury history. How this was handled is an indictment of Schoen's decision-making.

There were six QBs drafted in Round 1 of this year's draft, and the 7th QB didn't go until Round 5.
Trading up to get Caleb or Jayden was never realistic. Of the remaining four (Maye, Penix, McCarthy, and Nix), three of them (Maye, Penix, and McCarthy) didn't play in Week 1, and Nix's performance didn't scream "future of the franchise."
So it's unclear to me the basis for determining that Schoen committed malpractice by not passing on Nabers and instead drafting one of these guys.
We were always going to be stuck with Daniel Jones for this season. There was no magic wand we could wave to change that.

This has been a huge problem with this Giants organization! They just seem to ignore this important backup QB position?! While other Organizations sign the Gardner Minshew’s, the Giants sign terrible backups or even worse, go diving into the bargain box and get anyone who plays football?? It’s insane.
Lock was their 2nd choice.
You also have to consider that most QB's wouldn't want to come here after watching the Giants OL the past few years. The QBs signed before the Giants signed all the OL.
And thats why he didn’t come here.
Justin Fields also was traded for a 6th
We might have a problem at QB? But I thought you said Jones was going to be an All-Pro this year?
If they believed in DeVito enough to not add a developmental QB, than why did they give Lock $5 million?
Based on Taylor’s actions toward the Giants sideline during the preseason game , I don’t think he would have came back if the money was the same
Root for losses.
