He's tough to listen to/read when he clearly owes explanations and is not willing to say a damn thing. Reminds me of McAdoo. And we sure got tired of him around here.
and he'll always be better than Ben McAdoo having won a playoff game and lasted into his third season, but he's rapidly descending toward joining the long list of failed NY Giants head coaches.
He looks dejected and depressed like he listened to 3 Pink Floyd albums in succession. Not one glimmer of hope in his voice. This is going to be an epiic failure of a season.
It would seem that Daboll knows that Jones is crap
draft pick on a replacement for Eli long before it became apparent that Eli was done, but Mara objected. Reese drafted QBs on later rounds, but never drafted Eli's replacement. Maybe a similar state of affairs applies to Jones.
If he loses the team, then all bets are off and he’ll be gone. If there’s continued improvement and a competitive team, then I think he stays and they get themselves a new QB to work with.
(1) Not trading up for Mahomes as McAdoo apparently wanted to do.
(2) Drafting Barkley instead of Josh Allen.
(3) Drafting Davis Webb.
(4) Drafting Kyle Lauletta.
(5) Drafting Daniel Jones at #6 instead of Josh Allen.
(6) Resigning Daniel Jones to a terrible contract that is even worse than the idiotic contracts the Giants gave to Kenny Golladay and Nate Solder.
Whether the Giants made a mistake in not drafting JJM or Nix is yet to be seen. (I don't blame the Giants for not being able to trade up for Maye. It's clear that Schoen made a fair offer, but NE simply didn't want to trade the pick.)
I don't get the apprehension about a QB controversy. His quick Nope, shutting down any thoughts of even more practice snaps for Lock, is unbelievable.
It’s really not unbelievable. Coaches literally do this all the time when or if the starting qb struggles.
Best thing i can say is judge the staff on their actions not their words. If jones keeps struggling like this he’s not going to start for very long. This lip service crap is pointless. Pay it no mind.
Press conferences will rarely be used to say anything meaningful
but the PR staff with the Giants should realize that they are looking like complete idiots in the media and their own fan base. They have to do something to show that the people inside the building see the same obvious problem that is evident to everyone outside the building.
But I expect Pat Hanlon is locked in a bunker with Bob Papa and Carl Banks figuring out just how hard to go after the fans for their lack of support for the team.
For fans this is like watching a loved one spiral down the hole of drug addiction. At some point you have to detach yourself from it and walk away to save yourself emotionally. The posts on this site yesterday, and Eric on the podcast yesterday are lending credence to the idea that this is starting to happen. Giants fans are starting to realize their love and loyalty and absolutely taken for granted by the Giants.
Daboll needs to at least show the impression that he understands why
That, and they just have to correct what needs to be corrected. No problem
Which is one way to lose the room.
There's what we can all see, and then there's the coachspeak he has to present.

Well, he’s the first who could have legitimately ditched him. I’m sure he was in on the decision to resign him after 2022.

He pushed for the WR, didn't he?
It didn't appear they had any interest at all with Nix (though I'm okay with that as his arm isn't it), Penix or McCarthy.
