pff grades week 1

Still having problems with interior offensive line

Thread about Baldy's breakdown a bit disturbing. The giants are not scheming to get Thibs or Burns free or against weakest lineman. have them bull rushing the tackles. Not a well coached team on either side of the ball

Eagles are starting Becton at RG

Giants should be starting Neal at RG.
Bad coaching
SimmsToBavaro : 9/10/2024 7:32 am : link
This is an enormous failure. It’s been obvious that Neal is not an effective NFL tackle. He is a good run blocker but cannot protect in space. Logic dictates a move to guard. Instead they insist on fitting a square peg in a round hole. Another head scratcher from a lost organization.

They do this all the time.

Flowers, Neal, Ezudu and of course Daniel Jones.

The Giants always make the cover-up worse than the crime.
No reason Neal should not have gotten reps at
kelly : 9/10/2024 8:51 am : link
right guard in the fourth quarter. Van Rotten at 34 is not the long term answer maybe Neal is but we will never know because Daboll is stubborn.
So Daniel Jones played better than Nabors

Agree about Neal ....
Manny in CA : 9/10/2024 1:58 pm : link

Andrew Thomas stunk-it-up his rookie year)01 sacks); in the 20 games Neal has played, he's given up 12.

I'd like to see Eluemunor go back to his natural right guard position (where he can help protect Neal's inside responsibility).

That's a BIG plus, having Carmen Bricillo coaching him is huge.

Other than he hasn't even practiced there.
Correction ....

...You mean other than the fact that he's never practiced at the position.
My base-line expectations for Neal -

Giants' RT Kareem McKinzie; Good pass protector and terrific run blocker

Where did this narrative start
allstarjim : 9/10/2024 6:31 pm : link
That Minnesota has a bad OL? Yes, they have problems on the interior, most notably with Ingram, but O'Neill and Darrisaw are one of the best tackle tandems in the league. I wouldn't necessarily put them at the very top, but both of them are excellent.

It's not time to render garments because Thibs and Burns struggled against those two, particularly in the first game of the season.
What are you seeing?
SimmsToBavaro : 9/10/2024 8:10 pm : link
How do some of you still believe Neal can be an effective RT? The facts are clear. He cannot pass protect in space. Years ago Baldinger rang the alarm and he’s been proven correct. Instead of wasting him as a failed RT they should begin working him in practice at RG. Should have happened already.

The biggest issue with Dabol and Shoen is their inability to make timely logical decisions. They seem to lack and plan just going through the motions. They’re not executives.

and amazingly check out #4.

it is sickening that as this franchise cant muster anything resembling competitive in week 1 for the 2nd year in a row we can look around the NFL to see:

julian love and leonard williams are making plays in seattle for a first time head coach,

mckinney picking balls off in gb,

hernandez has become a mainstay in arizona for a 2nd year head coach who gave buffalo a run for their money, bredeson starting lg in tampa win,

barkley is scoring 3 tds in philly,

jabrill phillips is captaining the NE d that holds burrow at home to just 10 points in his coaches first game,

engram a captain in jax off his 100 catch pro bowl year,

even jordan freaking phillips got 15 snaps and 2 pressures for dallas - which is probably more pressure than the entire nyg roster other than lawrence.

is anyone else sick of bitching about players who then end up way better off after they leave or just me?
any way of showing the D
