"I've been a part of those boos when you walking on the field and your offense doesn't make anything happen and there's just, you would think it's an away game at this point," Greenard said. "But at that time, you know how, how we were attacking him and understanding like where he's at in his career based on you know, obviously the scheme that he has, you know, whatever the contract things going on. So, we understand he's dealing with a lot, and if we can add another aspect of you know, pressure onto the guy to make him speed up his reads a little bit more, make sure that he's not gonna get confident and comfortable back in the pocket.
Man, it was a great feeling to see it on the first couple of drives” |
This is also a textbook response.
Giants fans have every reason to be upset and criticize the ownership, front office, coaching staff and players. No doubt.
But if you're a fan of the team, you root for them to win IMHO.

They have the 4th worst winning percentage in professional sports the last decade.
He has only thrown a TD vs Arizona sonce the Vikings playoff game. Thats 8 starts

So what? Does it really affect your life that much that it consumes your whole day talking about?
I guess it does.
Fuck you.

Why do you care what I do with my day on a Giants message board so much?
I am miserable. I actually have life instances that prohibit me from being a human being. But getting sick gave me a new perspective on life. Worrying about a bad QB I’d certainly not one of them.
I'm very sorry to hear you are still struggling. You definitely have a proper perspective...

No matter what?...
I’ve got plenty of enjoyable hobbies. My handicap dropped 6 this summer! I represent one of the best WRs in the country!
Hopefully you find a more enjoyable hobby than logging on to here and policing it since you hate it so much.

You know I got love for you. Fun banter is always enjoyable. Your boy Cam Ward looks good. But Shaduer stock is going down.
Don’t sleep on my boy Dart though!
You can't draft QB4 over a DAWG wide receiver.
It was the OL's fault. It was the WR's fault.
What about 2022?
The contract is a bargain.
Daniel Jones was literally drafting a QB just to draft a QB. Why is there a completely different standard for other QBs in that situation than Jones with you?
Columbia once murdered their goalie.
It was a Colombia defender whose errant pass resulted in a USMNT goal--I was in Bogota for that match working on a deal-- and yes, his death weeks (?) later was allegedly payback

There's a self-fulfilling prophecy at play. NY fans have always sucked even though I count myself among them. The home crowd doing as much as possible to get into their own QB's head. Dexter Lawrence is correct, and this shit goes back to Coughlin who made the same point essentially that NY blows. There's always this weird pride about "playing in NY" which translates to "we don't act like fans". There's this egotistical, arms crossed, "impress me, and THEN..." And there's this warped, fucked-up pride about putting Jones' scalp for a trophy. It's like Jesus, fine - maybe he fails miserably - don't look for an assist in the box score. WTF.
Oh give me a break.
Fans pay a lot of money for season tickets and to go to game. You know what would keep fans from booing? Him not playing like shit.
Middle class fans are going to take a loss on tickets. Daniel Jones’ bank account is going to increase by $25 million after taxes.
No one is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing you to watch or pay. This is entertainment and a luxury. If you don't like if this much, you are free to do other things.
And if Jones doesn't like the booing he's free to do something else. Oh wait...he'll lose a lot of undeserved money.

While drafting Jones was a mistake, the bigger mistake was doubling down on him. Then tripling down. And now the quadruple...
Every team screws up on something big. The smart teams accept the mistake quickly and move on to the next opportunity.
I wish a 6. Down 6, it’s an 11

A “deal” huh?
A “deal” huh?
Ha! Yep, got the burns to show for it (:
I do want Daniel Jones to succeed. I pray he can fight through this and get cooperation and support from fans and rest of the team. He is a human being and a Giant..the team has had worse people wear the uniform.
People seem to be shying away from it now, but his season last year was completely swept and excused away by many fans and this front office. To pretend otherwise is not true.
Dropping your handicap by 6 in a summer is legit. I’m heading the other way unfortunately….

Jones was over drafted, but drafting him wasn't the sin. The sin was sticking with him this long and paying him.
The Giants need to be drafting more QBs, and more often. Abandon the full bloom love model.

Yeah agree totally on the enjoyment. To add to that, he's just such a boring player. Even in his good year, it was all so boring. Very, very few great throws, few deep balls, his running is not that exciting, no aggression. Even like Justin Fields, who sucks, gives you some exciting plays. Hell, even Zach Wilson, who really really sucks, would make the occasional amazing throw.
If we are going to be bad, can we at least do something entertaining? That's why I'll always love Odell, despite him being a complete dipshit. On boring mediocre teams, he was something to watch.

I can't get behind treating QBs, the most complicated position in all of sports as a lotto ticket. This is especially the case when there are repurcussions of missing out on great prospects. If we get a top QB prospect this year AND Nabers, is that really worse than QB 4 last year and whomever this year? It's not like we drafted an RB or some bum instead of picking JJM. And it's not like we drafted Nabers over Maye.

Nabers is going to die on the vine as a Giant while we wait for the Giants to fall in full bloom love with a guy who may or may not be any good.
Drafting QBs is really hard. Even the best miss. So why only pick a guy once a decade???
How pathetic and humiliating for the Giants franchise that is has come to this.

If we are being honest this isn't about Jones. I'm sure if BBI was around when
Phil was here they'd have been rough on him until he retired.
Strahan ate a lot of crap on BBI until the Superbowl
Tiki was one of, if not the best all round back we've had, but he still gets crap.
Eli won two SB's for this team and still took heat before his decline.
I think you could probably do this list for most of the past NY Giant players.
The self-fufilling prophecy is the Giants org expecting a different outcome trotting Jones out there for season 6.
There are literally no more excuses for Jones and the fans have rightfully no more patience. So when the Giants fuck up on their first drive, the fans are the ones reacting appropriately. And the irony is that the empty seats by October is the only thing that is going to spur the Giants to move on from Jones.

Absolutely embarrassing
Truly embarrassing.. This is an all time low. When other teams feel sorry?? wow. It's like they know the Giants are that terribly put together.. smh.

In hindsight, they should have gave Jones the franchise tag in 2023 instead of a new contract. There were no obvious better and affordable options at QB, but the Giants still made a mistake in this instance.
In 2024, drafting JJ McCarthy or Michael Penix at #6 (after not being able to trade for Maye) would have been a reach. Selecting Nabers was the right move.
... this is the context that every Daniel Jones conversation should start with.
I bet it would be really sane and logical.

You got it.
Bring your dad around...
He's talking about a 6th year pro football QB.
Jones has done himself no favors by just being a poor pocket passer his entire career now, but I do feel bad about this situation he's in. The Front Office has created a really uncomfortable situation for him.
Hopefully he either steps up or we go with Lock in a few weeks.
The power of friendship and fan support will get jones thru this difficult time
Dave Brown was one of the worst QBs I have ever seen. When Eric said Jones was worse than Brown - now - on his podcast the other day, I had to think about that for a minute or two.
But I couldn't get there. Jones is less bad than Clown Brown.
I do think, however, the misery index is much higher now than back then. Most Sundays, I'd rather do this...
Let your receiver have a chance throw it up there, have some fun, cause we're not watching this product.

Which actually happened a few seasons ago.
