would it not make sense to try to trade down for a 2nd 1 in 2026, in hopes of landing Arch Manning, or a more highly touted prospect, and building a deep roster while we wait, and put in a caretaker QB for 2025. Wouldn't be terribly dissimilar to Atlanta letting Desmond Ridder start all of last year for the Falcons.
Do you have to ask? I mean, it's so predictable and easy to draw the lines...
If they miss on out Arch, wait until these posters find out about Marshall Manning, Peyton's son.
Instead of truly finding the best talent, let's find the best NYG prototype.
Sure but you also can't force it lest you end up with a bust

for why we shouldn't draft a QB. At some point you have to at least try and find one.

They haven't drafted a QB in six years, that's hardly forcing it.
- Daniel Jones 2019
- Philip Rivers 2004 (to trade for Eli )
- Dave Brown 1994 (supplemental)
- Phil Simms 1979
- Lee Grosscup 1959
- Travis Tidwell 1950
In fact that Giants have only drafted 4 additional QBs in rds 2-3 in their entire 100 history
(Webb, Hostetler and two guys in the early 1950s)
Just 10 QBs total in the top 3 rds of the draft in 100 years
Time to mix things up a bit.
I do think they will draft one as well
Plus, the 2025 QB class is shaping up to be a very nice looking group.
And if they don't like the QBs? Ok - then just deploy a true Zero QB strategy. This is becoming more feasible as QB salaries explode. Commit to the pipeline. Build the team. Don't Don't Don't pay $40 M if a guy has an ok season. Just find the next guys to do it.

Exactly right. A Zero Quarterback Strategy is good way of thinking about it. Every year until you have identified your elite guy, there should be a vet (modest one year contract), a blue chip prospect and a developmental prospect on the roster and a developmental prospect on the practice squad. The total cap hit of the quarterback room should be less than five percent. And then each year, at least two quarterbacks should be brought in to compete fiercely for these four positions.
There should never again be any kind of scholarship or anointment. The starter is the guy who vigorously earns his way to the role. If you have the proper coaching environment and are building the rest of the roster properly with this kind of cap allocation, at the very least, you should get quarterback play from such a meritocratic approach to playoff contending every year.
He can throw from various angles. In fact, his throwing reminds me very much of LJax.
To me, Ward is more of a thrower/playmaker right now than passer. Which wouldn't bother me.
2) This is a terrible idea. You would trade out of a potentially prime draft slot in 2025 to land a 2026 slot in hopes that a) Arch wins the starting job next year, b) Arch plays well enough to warrant entering the draft and getting taken in a prime slot, c) your slot aligns with when he will be available or you are trading more draft capital to make that happen and d) You are hoping or planning on the Giants being bad enough THIS year AND NEXT year to make this happen. And all this just because the kid's name is manning and dominated overmatched HS kids? No thanks.
I agree. Or higher
