OLine - Talkin' Giants Review

section125 : 9/11/2024 11:03 am
Pretty depressed after the disaster on Sunday and looking for anything to be "positive" about.

Skinner seems the be in line with Sy on the line. In fact, he seemed encouraged. Sounds like he was relieved that JMS looked better and the Eluemunor looks like a professional RT with knowledge and good technique. He has some flaws that are known, but played well.

Yes he banged GVR a bit as the worst on the line and basically said it was still better than last year's RG play. Perhaps since GVR was out of position all summer playing center with JMS out, he will pick it up. No real mention of Runyon.

I think there was a thread on oline early in the week, especially after Sy's review but that thread seemed pretty negative in comparison the Skinner and Sy.

Yes, I know it does not solve the QB issue.

At least we have gone

from universally hating the Oline to pundits having some different perspective. Brian Baldinger killed the o-line. They were better than what's been trotted out in the past, but that's not saying much.
Them playing

pretty good makes it even more frustrating that this QB is seeing ghosts and feeling pressure that isn't there.

I'd rather him tuck it and run for 3-4 yds, but then he'll probably get hurt again with this teams luck
The OL wasn't great

But it was functional, something we haven't been able to say in a while
The OL isnt why they lost.

Thats enough for me.

gods have inflicted a bad and worsening QB on us, maybe they will gift us a miraculously improved Evan Neal at RT or RG. Wouldn’t that be something!

Yes, the defense got pushed around, the Vikes oline had their way with the defense!
If we had a QB this offense would look 180 degrees different

WE would be pretty good
On the QB issue not solved
SamdaGiantsFan : 9/11/2024 11:55 am : link
You know what it does do - we don’t have the OL as the excuse anymore. DJ is completely exposed as THE major issue when the OL is actually functional. Which is key for some more stubborn Giants front office folks (whether that’s Schoen or Mara) to be convinced that we need to turn the page here.

Just one game, but if DJ continues to train wreck while OL play is serviceable, it will be clear as day that this is the big hole.
Good review

Oline played above average to kinda good, imo. The pass protection was decent. Run blocking needs to get better, but there were no negative runs. 2 or 3 for no gain.

Jms looked pretty good. JE was a pleasant surprise. He really plays above his talent. very patient and calm and uses everything he has to get the job done.

I guess he is doing a weekly spot on wfan midday show (the one with BT) while i don't reccomend listening to the whole show, the interview is available in podcast. Really good stuff. A really solid, likeable guy.

You are such a clown. Your hero threw more TDs to the other team (than he did his own. Again. Looked like he’d never played the sport in his life. But yeah, let’s put the blame on the defense
Skinner’s all over the place on this.
