Still a free agent, he can't be any worse than Danny Boy. I'm surprised they didn't look into him and thought Lock would be a better option, was it just the financials?
I'm guessing they didn't want to screw with DJ's confidence, so they brought in a backup who wouldn't push for the starting spot.
Just sucks we are at week 2 and our season is over, at least a guy like Tannehill could give us a little bit of Flacco like spark. I'm sure the team would love it.
At this point, they need to truly bottom out and start fresh with a rookie QB next year. Bring on Carson Beck
At least Tannehill has had success. I think this team is capable of getting a wild card with a game manager+ type qb. I would rather watch entertaining football and win 8-9 games then piss away another year and waiting for the draft, when that's not even a crapshoot. I also think it would save Daboll+Schoen who I think deserve a chance to select their own QB.
He’d be an upgrade, but if we’re not making the playoffs (spoiler alert: we’re not), then what’s the point? Win a couple more games to take us out of a QB draft spot.
This. Tannehill was garbage last year. He doesn't do enough to turn the Giants into a playoff contender.
Agree....let's play this out and get a top draft pick. Time for change.
This, take the lumps and hope they don't get pointless wins again. I don't care about winning this season, they need the best opportunity possible to get someone. The Pats missing that FG last season was brutal.

The o-line was fine.
I'm not saying he's the answer or the future.. I just want to be entertained. The same way I was entertained during DeVito's 3 game streak last year.
At some point, there needs to be an intelligent self-analysis and plan forward.
Agree with this. As much as I can't stand the idea of hoping this team loses week to week - after week 1 - a 5-7 win season and getting a nice corner in the first round of the draft feels like Groundhog Day with this team.
Embrace the Suck!

why you think Tannehill is an improvement over Locke?

They should yearly pick up an unwanted free agent QB, win 8-9 games every year, for say the next 50 years, with their 25th HC and GM over that time span, draft nobodies in the 1st round, playing in a new rat hole 12,000 seat Bridgeport CT stadium, built to an AI predicted perfectly aligned ticket buying public, a field built from melted down and pulverized Pepsi cans, for their glorious 150th anniversary, with a John Mara-brained cyberbot overseeing it all.
Sarcasm off. ;)
I don’t think DJ is even a back up anymore. Tbh him sucking so bad in game 1 is a long term plus. He will be not be back thankfully
I don't ever want to see the Giants try to tank.
They would probably be as inept at tanking games as they are winning games, and wind up with the 6th pick in a 3 QB draft and the top 3 teams all desperately need a QB.
At some point, there needs to be an intelligent self-analysis and plan forward.
I will never understand people who find any level of entertainment due to a couple of meaningless wins in a doomed season.
The Tommy Cutlets thing made no sense to me, and, as predicted, prevented the Giants from a chance at the top 3 draft QBs.
Find something else to do with your Sunday.
do not love tanking after one game tho
but there comes a time in a mans life...and I have had plenty of them.

It's about taking your medicine so you gain a potential path to improvement. I wouldn't expect tanking purposely

is how the Giants keep winding up at the bottom of the NFL.

It was hope. Why get a high draft pick and hope he's a player if you can find one literally off the street in your own backyard?

Fine line between hope and delusion.
I prefer to be entertained because that is why I watch the Giants. Winning is the ultimate entertainment, but we don't have that. We are not guaranteed another day here, much less an entire year.
