Logan Ryan on with Bob Papa spoke negatively about JS and his cap management. Called him money ball.Giants likely went without the punt returner and fullback week 1 ,they just signed so that their salaries would not be guaranteed for the year. I think the fullback is important to the blocking schemes the o line coach likes and was needed as was the punt returner for sure
I know the cap situation was tough at first, but there’s always a way to make it work. They could kept all of those guys for the price of Jones
It’s my #1 complaint with him, outside of the Jones contract and the 2 awful 3rd round picks in 2022. Can’t even get mad about the Neal/KT picks as those guys were supposed to be blue chippers
Ominous clouds are gathering.

First off Giants offered Love more than Seahawks did, he turned them down because he thought he couod get more and ended up having to settle for the seahawks offer..
Barkley again the Giants offered him 23 million guaranteed TWICE and he turned it down..
Hernandez? he was terrible for the giants and everyone wanted him gone..
Peppers and engram? seriously? we are killing schoen for not re-signing them?
As for Mckinney, the safety room is actually a strength of this team
What do you make of all this arnie? We both have been on record liking Daboll, do you think we are looking at another house cleaning?
He was a cheerleader for Gettleman because DG gave him a $31mil/3 yr contract to go on the local sports talk shows and pump up the organization.
I suppose it's possible he survives this but he is running out of rope

Yeah I liked him as a player, but he seemed the locker room lawyer type
And he was shipped out fast when the new regime took over, so any opinion of his requires a solid grain of salt
by leaving them un guaranteed they can rotate guys through those bottom 2 spots. They are doing it with vested vets not guys who have to go through waivers. They are basically like baseball players on 2 way deals who getted shuffled in and out of the bullpen.
Somebody is making the minum each week but they can adjust based on who's needed.
He better hang on to this job like grim death because he's never getting another GM gig with this track record.

Hernandez?
in warm ups he was dealing with a groin pull
and it was not at all surprising that he was a no go.
The strategy and logic is sound, but if you get the players wrong, none of it works, you lose a bunch of games, and no one cares about your strategy being optimal.
Swapping McKinney and Barkley for a better offensive line and a better pass rush was definitely the right goal, but if you got the players wrong... it's going to backfire.
It's early days this year. It's not clear whether the problem is just Jones, or Jones plus the rest of the roster. There's a *lot* of high-dollar talent on this team. Either those players are going to earn their salary/draft slot, or they're not.
Now comes 2024 and it seems to be much better, early returns. Unfortunately, this news has been buried by the DJ fiasco.

Which doesn’t line up with the reasons you gave in the OP.
