of a current Giants team, or the outlook for the future, as they are today? I know we've gotten off to some lousy starts, but I'm not sure I was ever this down.
Not since I've started following the site in 2007.
only to see that we're running it back at QB was just a gut punch. I didn't drink the Kool-Aid on Nabers making Jones look respectable this year, but seeing game one must have dashed that sliver of hope for most.
I think this is about as low as it has gotten for me
and I have felt that pain enormously over the last decade or so. Watching Jones literally play the game in slow motion is sole crushing. The fact that he has done it for six years and we have not moved on more so. The fact that we can't get anything right is also just so deflating.
I mean we had the worst GM in the league in Gettleman and we might have downgraded. When you think about that, that really rocks you to the core.
Of course.. its been worse.....last year was worse...to be honest.....
But Jones' performance, indicating "Not this crap again ..." has caused almost everyone to conclude Jones is done as the Giants starting QB. The question for most is not if, but when.
Maybe not after Week 1, but Car 38 - Giants 0 9/23/13 was bad
This was the worst loss in TC and Eli's careers.
The Giants Oline was just about as bad as the 2023 version.
Couldn't run, couldn't pass protect...the team had gotten old and slow. Carolina 38 - Giants 0 - ( New Window )
I still put Giants games in my calendar but if anything else comes up, I don't bother watching the games. I can always catch the highlights (lowlights?) that night.
I was hoping that might change this year but apparently not.
RE: Never This Negative / Discouraged This Early In The Year

I've been following the Giants for 40+ years, don't remember being this discouraged at the start of a season. A sense of dread about what I expect to happen, especially after a huge letdown at the draft. I need to see signs of life, hope for the future, and right now those are hard to find.
How negative was it after the Dallas 40-0 beat down last year? AT was hurt and an already bad OL was pulling guys off the street and starting them.
I think this is more to do with the realization that not only is DJ gone (thank god) but this means Schoen and Daboll are likely gone too...so we are still wondering in he wilderness and not a real org with a direction like so many of us thought.
BBI didn't exists for the 1970's decade, If it did
We have started 0-6 and gotten blown out nearly every game. I would say there is a smaller segment that starts redundant threads over and over again which makes it look worse than it is.
I’m hazy on when bbi as a message board started, but I contributed content to an early website…. Was it BigBlue Wrecking Crew?
In any case, there have been plenty of lows and this is not the worst. Instant gratification and impatience is part of our TikTok, twitter, Instagram world. Its beyond our control as fans and in the grand scheme of things its just football
Said it back in July that this is the most indifferent I have ever been about the Giants going into the season. Week 1 confirmed my belief of where this team is. It sucks, but until they draft the next franchise QB, the Giants are not going anywhere.
at the start of the 4th quarter. Never done that before. Season feels likes its over already. BBI not helping in that regard. Ill watch Sunday like I always do. Thank you sir may I have another.
I must have started reading this site sometime in 03 or 04
fanatical to embarrassingly passive. I ll watch expecting a loss. This didn't happen overnight. It's taken me years to get here. If the season was canceled tomorrow I could care less.
Usually this level of pandemonium sets in after the annual 0-2 start. But we've seen it enough times that now we get there at 0-1, particularly with this DJ debacle being where it is today.
9/9/2024 was the lowest point of my Giants fandom since 11/19/1978
The Pisarcik fumble was still slightly worse than this past Sunday, but losing to a backup quarterback of a below average Vikings team while running around in clown suits in front of Giants royalty was arguably a lot worse then losing to a playoff bound Eagles late in a meaningless season.
The great irony of course is that the "The Fumble" occurred one day after 11/18/1978, the day of the "Jonestown Massacre".
the lowest it’s been across the board because there’s no more excuses for Jones or any sane argument that can be made for him after that game. Also, people coming to terms that both Schoen and Daboll may not be the answer and literal years have been wasted hanging onto Jones. It’s very likely the Giants have a new GM, HC and QB next season. Might be the full reset they’ve needed for years but I don’t have hope Mara is capable of hiring the right people to draft the right QB. And what if they pull off some wins that take them out of range of a QB again?
We should have tanked last year. That would have given us a shot at three outstanding qb prospects. This year will be a total waste. If everyone insists that we have to take a qb next year we'll wind up repeating the Jones mistake and ruin another few years. How about taking BPA. If we had taken Josh Hines-Allen who went the pick after Jones, we would have gotten a pro-bowler. The Eagles took their qb in the second round and they're probably going deep in the playoffs again.
I think people are so down is that 2 1/2 years ago Mara
Did something that was professional and competent. He conducted a respectable GM search and interviewed a bunch of real legit GM candidates. Then he hires a guy with a real resume who struck me as pretty smart.
And it’s all coming undone. I fear the next idiocy John Mara inflicts on us.
and the internet and some of you here were around in the 70’s, this place would be a shitshow! This is definitely a bad time to be a Giants fan, but it ain’t the 70’s!!

In 2018 I asked how long we had to endure this before it was ok to be completely critical. I can not believe we're still sitting in this disaster six years later.

It’s unreal. I like how posters are linking to discussions from 5 and 6 years ago. It’s deja vu. Arnies post from yesterday really put things in perspective.
There’s a systemic issue here. John Mara is an idiot and a coward and he needs to resign or retire or whatever. He’s the problem.

So what's your plan for QB next year? [/quote]
My plan for next year (based on the fact that right now, it looks like we'll have one of the first 2-3 picks), would be to trade down to a team with a really dumb GM for a boatload of picks. Then we could stock up on BPA's and sign a free agent QB who isn't real expensive. Face it: this team isn't going anywhere for a while.
I think this season is all but over. AND IT IS SEPTEMBER 12TH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean we had the worst GM in the league in Gettleman and we might have downgraded. When you think about that, that really rocks you to the core.
Solve the QB puzzle.....
The team has young talent.....and a couple of super stars.
A more familiar defense.....after a year.
The Giants Oline was just about as bad as the 2023 version.
Couldn't run, couldn't pass protect...the team had gotten old and slow.

I gotta say his play was pretty Offensive so for that I say you win!

I do not really ever remember the general resignation that the season is completely over by Week 2 the way we're feeling it this year.

GM
HC
QB
All three stink. At least if we had a good GM then there would be hope he could fix HC and QB
So right now we have no hope.
And it’s all coming undone. I fear the next idiocy John Mara inflicts on us.
In the last 16 years.
So what's your plan for QB next year?
We are right on pace to win the Super Bowl
And, they all stunk.
I'm not even going to discuss the qb. I might vomit.
