According to Begely Randle is willing to take any role to help this team win..
Good to hear, obviously we will see when the season starts but Randle may need to take a little step back for this team to be truly succesful Link - ( New Window )
with Thibs and Brunson leading the way. Knicks looked dominant last January when all hands were on deck. The ball moved and Randle was fine. HE needs to take shots as he along with Brunson are the ISO players this team needs. You need ball movement and players that don't need the ball but you also need ISO players like Randle.
A lot of fans forget or fail to acknowledge that Randle also took less than the extreme max deal a few years ago.
I pointed out that Randle did the same thing as Brunson, in concept, when people who should know better were calling it "unprecedented."
But that theoretical max deal would have required waiting a year. Randle (like Brunson) took the security of the deal available at the moment.
And, in Randle's case, what happened in that intervening season? He had a bad year that would not remotely have put him in position to actually get that theoretical max deal.
Randle didn't want to test free agency when he was 25. He doesn't want to do it on the wrong side of 30. If the Knicks offer him any kind of deal, he'll take it.
I still don't know for sure if there's a beneficial deal to be made for Randle but it would have to be a doozy. I am open to anything, I just don't see how you get back equal value. And why move him for a role player--we have enough of that already., Randle is a weird situation. I just think he's better off here with the Knicks and I think the Knicks are better off with him here. Conversely I am not sure any other team would benefit as much by adding Randle. Just seems like everyone is better off keeping the status quo. Thibs has his respect and Brunson is widely accepted as the alpha scorer.
I love him too...and you are right..to win close games in the NBA you need guys that want and can go ISO down the stretch.
We will go as far as the Center position allows us next yr
I'm pretty surprised they don't have more insurance at center because Robinson might not even be ready for the season.
Yeah, I think more insurance at C will come by the trade deadline, although maybe not sooner.
Not disagreeing, but are you reading somewhere that Mitch may not be ready for the season? Last I saw a report, in early May they were saying 6-8 weeks, which obviously has passed by now.
I think he finally realizes he doesnt have to do everything anymore
I'm not sure how realistic it is for Randle to play a lot of minutes at center defensively to Thibs' liking.

Some Fans are weird about Randle. I love the guy. Ever since he's been a Knick the team has been better off (along with Thibs coaching him)

Wonder if it signals a deuce trade.
Between Payne and Kolek at pg
Bridges / Donte at sg

It could, i also think the Knicks learned last year having guys who ar eplayable at the 11th, 12th and 13th spot is important
