lose this, them going 0-9 heading into the Panthers game is a very real possibility.
Normally they’d “surprise” us and beat someone like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Seattle—teams better than them but not elite teams, but not this year (all of those are road games anyway). I think they’ll head to Germany with 1 win: the home tilt vs the Commanders.
My family was planning to go (3 grown sons), wife and siblings. ticket prices were semi-reasonable. After last week, scrapped those plans, using the money to put towards a family vacation now instead. Not funneling any resources towards this franchise until there is actual hope, which at a minimum means a new QB.
But I do worry that the criticism from last week will tempt Thibs to go all out on the pass rush and lose contain often. You are right that a zero sack day is ok as long as the pocket is collapsing and Daniels has nowhere to run. I worry Thibs may run himself out of his lane in a desperate attempt to put up sack numbers to silence the critics.
We’re one game in and people are worried about Burns and KT who had 11.5 sacks last year??? Let’s see how they’re doing after 5 games prior to throwing in the towel on the season. It’s like some have never watched the NFL before
Yes, Jones was terrible but so was practically the whole team. I just rewatched this game on NFL plus for as long as I could stand it. Jones got good protection on the first drive and maybe the second drive, then the OL disappeared. It seemed Jones was getting hit on every drop back, even his completed dump offs. As for the receivers Nabors looked good, Slayton and Wandale ? Fair at best. Singletary is competent, but he's not Barkley and this team couldn't win with Barkley. As for the defense, when Dexter Lawrence came out, the whole unit was invisible. If the line is that bad, who cares and who knows if the DB's have potential.

McFadden not good to go for week 1. Instead we see Coughlin to IR in warm-ups. Joins Matthew Adams, who was supposed to anchor the special teams, and Dyontae Johnson the pre-season darling. Now Muasau who looked pretty good for a rookie 6th rounder making a debut is down.
I'm guessing Ty Summers will need to be elevated again, played almost every ST snap. Only other healthy body is Curtis Bolton who was shuffled to the PS last week. Maybe we'll see Isaiah Simmons get reps? Or more three safety with Belton?

Good post. Contain contain contain.
Yes, impact the game on defense. Pressures, hits on QB, batted balls, rushed throws, contain the edge.
Unfortunately Thibs feels to be more of the player that is satisfied with 2 meaningless sacks when the game is no longer in question versus a consistent number of pass-rush wins in the first half.
Adoree and Phillips get more snap share this week. Also McFadden has shown ability to blitz wonder if having him back in the fold will allow us to show different pressure looks.
As far as the offense goes need to spread Washington out. get them in dime looks incorporate Wr screens and Jet sweeps to attack the width of the field.

Jones sucks seems to be the consensus on BBI but the rest of the team played poorly. Daboll must take full responsibility for this fiasco of the team's unprepared, listless and noncompetitive performance. To be truthful I can't explain why this game happened. If there isn't a marked improvement in game play with a few exceptions everybody should be put on notice. So are we going to see another season over by October and praying for a top five pick in the draft? Just disgusting
Eric you going to the game?

Operating the website pretty much prevents me from ever going to another Giants game. Too much to do once the game is over.

Plus I think they'll be more determined to not let the "Jones owns them" narrative to continue after how he looked last week.

At this point I have little faith in the entire Giant organization.

Glad McFadden is back.

Alas, Mrs. in CT and I are going to the beach. Not wasting a beautiful day in September for this.
