Unfortunately this is the best outcome for the NY Giants

Big Rick in FL : 9/15/2024 4:21 pm
I know people are going to be pissed we lost this game, but this is the best outcome for to turn this franchise around. Every year we beat the Redskins or other shitty teams and end up picking out of range of the top QBs.

There's really no difference in going 5-12 or 3-14 except for your draft position.

As much as it sucks to watch them lose every week I'd rather watch an absolutely dreadful season that ends up with a top 2 pick than watch a season like last year where we still suck and picked 6th.

Hopefully we have our pick of QBs and don't end up picking 6th again where we end up with whatever is leftover at QB.
Best
Toth029 : 9/15/2024 4:27 pm : link
Outcome for the franchise, I understand but not for the HC or the regime.

Either a new regime gets their opportunity to pick a QB high with a good group at WR and a decent line in front of him, or a new HC.
You're not wrong because even if we did sneak into the playoffs
Anakim : 9/15/2024 4:27 pm : link
We wouldn't get anywhere with no QB and a Swiss Cheese defense.

But I'm so sick of the losing. I'm so sick of rebuilding. I'm sick of waiting all year just to watch us be a disaster.

We're the worst franchise in the NFL.
Nope

Jones had a "good Jones game". Or a below average game for a good QB. So they'll not make the change anytime soon.
Yep, agree Rick

a quarterback. I’m just surprised so many are just waking up to this reality. Without a quarterback, you have ZERO chance of being successful and this regime decided to roll with the same pile of crap that they’ve had for the 5 previous seasons. Meanwhile, rookies and and journeyman vets we could have acquired are playing at a high level around the league.

It's absolutely heartbreaking to watch us lose like this. Even though I'm ok with it because I think it's the best case scenario for the franchise, but it still ruins my week.

The sad thing is that Daniel Jones gets to start next week against the Cleveland Browns, who have a good defense, only to get embarrassed. Cleveland, unfortunately, is going to get the first win of their season against the Giants.

No blame for the Nabers drop? No kicker? The defense getting shredded for 425 yards?

The only thing that’s gonna get us out of this decade plus of losing football is a complete tank job. I hate rooting for losses, especially this early. I won’t do it but once the game is over, I realize it’s probably best they lost.

They've been picking in the top 10 consistently for a decade, 2 too ten picks in 2022 and they still suck. Win some fucking games.

For real, and even the top pick/QB next year wouldn’t change much. A half decent team doesn’t settle for FGs like they did today. Defense got shredded all day.

I am so okay with these outcomes at this point that I am pretty close to just rooting for losses.

If they are going to make decisions (like with the kicker today) that improve the chances for losing then don't blame the fans.

The Giants wanted to move on from DJ in the 2024 Draft. So games like this aren't saving the guy. We just need to be in a position to draft a QB whose value matches up to the draft spot.

What QB have they had the chance to draft? This is my point exactly. They are bad and pick in the top 10, but not bad enough to have a shot at a legit franchise QB.

What does winning games do? It doesn't get you a franchise QB. It gives you false hope so you pay Daniel Jones 40 million a year and fucks the franchise for an even longer period of time.

Why doesn't the top pick/QB change much? Daniel Jones had a very good game by his standards and was under 200 yards passing. Baker Mayfield just went for 300 and 4 TDs against the Redskins defense. You hope if you're drafting top 2 your QB is able to top what Baker did.

DJ missed out throws today. A good QB probably scores 5 TDs today.

by being in the bottom 5 qb's, not producing wins, and helping us get the top qb in draft. Then, if we get a stud we might be able to get back to playoffs and promised land sooner than if he stays. without a stud qb, we will not get at most a middle of the pack record. Giant fans need to see the big picture of how to get out of this mess.

So a stud QB will stop our defense from getting shredded?
I’m not saying there will be a quarterback is talented as Daniels

But just switching quarterbacks today, I think changes the outcome. And this is Daniel‘s second regular season game.
The quarterback in the NFL is by far the most important position in sports. Don’t kill yourself how significant just having a good quarterback is.

Yes, as I’ve been saying, even before the season started, we cannot continue with this death by 1000 cuts. Endure one more horrible season. Get a top three draft pick and get the quarterback. And the higher the pick - the better

You think this team is good? Nabers’ drop had exactly a 0.0% of changing the long term outcome of this franchise because a win against another bad team is unhelpful when you’re getting curb stomped by anyone good on your schedule.

Him not being one of the main reasons doesn’t mean much.

He completed 59% of his passes for like 100 yards in the air. He wasn’t the reason they almost won, it was Nabers.

Nobody said QB is why we lost today, but QB is why we've consistently lost the last 6 years. He played an ok game by NFL standards.

I see multiple difference makers coming out of college this year.

After 6 years we area still seeing a QB who just stares down his initial target
He does not get thru progressions like a good NFL QB does
That’s why the Giants MUST move on

Jones will have 3, maybe 4 games a season where he's far down the list of reasons why the Giants lost.
Of course this is all with the assumption

I'd be more inclined to agree with you if I hadn't bet $200 on the 6.5 wins over.

That being said, I certainly haven't given up on this season and the talent we have on it. We're just very damn young! Especially on defense, where we're integrating a new defensive system (far different than what was played the previous two year) on top of the plethora of youth. We knew we'd be a work in progress that would experienced its share of growing pains.

Unfortunately you probably needed the Vikings & Redskins games to hit that over. On paper there aren't a ton of winnable games left.

Browns, Cowboys, Seahawks, Bengals, Eagles and Steelers are probably losses. Then we have the Redskins & Panthers. We probably win both. Bucs, Cowboys, Saints, Ravens are probably losses. Falcons & Colts are winnable. Eagles to end the season is probably gonna be an L. At most I'm going to say 4 wins.

losing begets losing. OK fine, when the season is definitely lost and that ONE game definitely determines picking a slam dunk lock at pick X --fine, maybe then.

IN all the years this team tanked down the stretch, I can literally think of one instance only where the last few losing weeks may have helped the future cause--and that was 2003 into 2004. Every other time it didn't help at all, the losing only further soiled the seeds of future misery.

Losing begets losing. 2013 didn't help. 2014-15 didn't help. 2017 didn't help. 2018,19,20 and 21 didn't help a fucking thing.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, but you're fooling yourself. This 0-2 start is yet another disaster.

But isn't it fair to say the Giants would be better off right now if they lost to NE and Washington last season and - giving them a top 2-3 pick?

Since 2017 - the Giants have had one winning season (9-7-1 in 2022)
And, other than that one season, during those 7 years - the MOST wins they have had is 6.

So last year was their second best season in 7 years.
That feels pretty permanent to me.
And how many HCs....

Yes, winning is better
But winning 6 games ain't winning.
