Both Shamet and Morris are legitimate NBA bench guys who bring experience and each adds an important skill to the end of the bench. Shamet is a strong three-point shooter and Morris is a physical defender and rebounder.
And both will be trade fodder during the February trade season.
Plus if the Knicks get bit by the injury bug like they did last season, these guys are experienced, senior pros who can hold the fort while the rotation guys get healthy.

two good pickups. If we can get a legit Center I would be estatic
to be a national NBA writer for the Athletic. Big loss.
The good ones often move on to bigger things, like when Mike G moved on from Giants beat. He was very good. Katz is very good and very smart. I like Begley best for reporting Team news, but Katz NBA writing and analysis was top notch for the Knicks.
I love it. He was the Knicks best player for a half a season and
Guessing Shamet and Morris both make it and they cut Diop
Diop's a guaranteed deal though I believe.
It is. $2,654,644
"$2.65 million
Keita Bates-Diop, who played 14 games for the Nets after being acquired from the Phoenix Suns in the Royce O'Neale trade, will exercise his $2.65 million player option for the 2024-25 season. Bates-Diop averaged 1.6 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.3 assists during his short time with the Nets in 2023-24."

: "We could see Julius more at the 5. I don’t want to do that for long stretches, it would take its toll, but to have him do it for 10 or 15 minutes, I think he can do it well. He also would create a lot of [offensive] advantages."

That's interesting. I think it would create offensive advantages. Defensive advantages, not so much. Rebounding, hopefully about neutral.
Remember that lawsuit which linked Dolan and Harvey Weinstein. A judge just dismissed it and ordered her to pay the defendants' court costs Link - ( New Window )

The advantage it creates dfensively is you can switch pretty mich evwrything..
Its would be their version of the death lineup, the dedensive focus wiild be pressure by Divo or hart with Mikal and OG on the perimiter..

I would imagine that Sims would be a good fit in an trapping defense as well, provided Thibs was comfortable with his positioning and ability to pressure without cheap fouls

if they can also swing a trade for a 5 who can shoot a 3 ball in case they want to go more offense.

Agreed. I’m a big fan of your (distant) cousin. She has a great personality
