For those who want Belichick (and I won't argue against it) I thought the Mara's relationship with Belichick soured somewhat in the aftermath of the Flores lawsuit since it was Belichick who texted Flores mistakenly which prompted the lawsuit? Would this prevent the Mara's from hiring Belichick? Beside wanting more control, I wonder if this would be another hurdle to Belichick returning.
The Giants aren't hiring Belichick mid-season in any capacity, because it overly complicates adherence to Rooney rules.
If the Giants hire Belichick in some kind of football czar capacity right now, it effectively precludes him from being head coach or GM.
The Giants cannot in good faith then turn around and stage a phony job search that satisfies the hiring practices next year.
The guy that got himself involved in the last search, that instigated a lawsuit, can't then turn around and hire himself as the coach or GM in an open competition against minority candidates.
If the Giants want Belichick, they should settle the Flores suit ASAP. Then conduct a by-the-book hiring search in the offseason.
Hiring Flores would solve a lot of the issues here. We would get a tough coach that would instill that toughness in the Defense and the rest of the team, and he'd likely withdraw the lawsuit.
Schoen would have to go, though, he's tied to the hip with Daboll.
I am not saying it can't happen. But Mara is hopefully smart enough to not create the impression Belichick cut in line, or worse the Giants are running a sham interview for a GM in-name-only, and Belichick the executive is really the GM.
"Maybe I wasn't clear enough - GET ANOTHER ^$#%% KICKER ON THE ACTIVE ROSTER, NOW!!!"

I don’t see Flores getting or taking an interview here.

Wasn’t Jeff Saturday hired midseason and off the street?
Also I don’t think this is a full tear down rebuild. Not in the least. Nyg are one smart offseason away from a good roster.
Maybe not, but it's not impossible. Flores knows he was Mara's original choice. If both Schoen and Daboll are shown the door, and Flores can pick his own GM, I think he'd bite.
Head Coach opportunities are rare, and I think he wants to get back to being a HC. And if he succeeds here, it would be the ultimate revenge.

Tua's comments are damming...especially for a new Rookie Qb coming in. If he gets back in the Head coaching world again, would be better with an established QB and OC.
