If Gano's hammy was hurt badly enough he's out for weeks
then WTH was he still in uniform the entire game, standing around on the sideline and not going ahead and getting a jump on some kind of treatment in the locker room (recognizing we were at WAS).
Also, would it kill Daboll to come out and admit they fugged up by not having McAtamney on the active roster just in case something went awry with Gano? He's so defensive and upset by the question and keeps saying Gano hurt his hammy, not his groin. Completely reasonable to get him to explain that, and yet Daboll gives back some stupid BS response and takes none of the blame. This guy's act is wearing quite thin.

The only treatment for a hamstring at that point is ice, which he had.
My guess is it will be Cade York. He was here last year. He's young.
Dont play our starters in the preseason to learn the new defense in real time.
Daboll is so concerned with starters getting hurt in preseason that we are not ready for the regular season.
It's not like we have a playoff caliber team with a coaching staff with continuity that doesn't need to play much in the preseason.
It’s not just the Giants doing this. Look how sloppy the first two weeks of games have been league wide. The first few weeks are basically an extension of preseason.
Forget adding a new kicker. Giants should just play 'as-is'

kicked off. With his groin and the potential to have to make a tackle on kickoffs was just insane having him out there. Clearly he could not kick the ball out of the end zone. Why didn’t Daboll have the Hammer kick off? Or with the new rules punt on the kickoff?

Exactly how many practices with contact this week?
Signing an aging kicker to a substantial contract extension.
YEP.. That is exacatly what I said this summer. We weren't a SB contender you don't sign kickers to bigger deals, that is a waste of money.
I didn't mind it at the time(last Sept I think) because we looked like we were trending in the right direction and then we played Dallas and of course he immediately gets hurt. I believe before Gano we had a bit of a 'kicker issue' or I could be mis-remembering. I think he was the lone constant bright spot through 2 regimes. Dallas done did him in.....move on.org.

This right here. I don't think anyone would be pissed at Daboll if Gano hurt his hamstring on the opening kickoff and they had McAtamney came in and wiffed on the kicks. I mean, we would be pissed that our backup kicker was trash and question why he was on the roster, but that's more of a Schoen question.
But not being prepared for your injured kicker to become....injured? That's just straight up incompetence.

No dude. Just no.
I wonder if the training staff advised against playing him and Daboll did anyway. My only reason for thinking that is of how easy it would have been to say "the trainers signed off on it, so we played him" and ended it right there.
How about that badass for the Skins we played yesterday? Guy was on fire, going 7-7. Came off the waiver wire. Bet our pro personnel guys couldn't find a guy like that. Gonna trot out Fat Randy again and make him wear #49 or some garbage. Uggh.

Playing him wasn't the issue. Having no active back-up plan in case a kicker with an already troublesome groin got hurt was the issue. Daboll's defense is that it was a hammy and not a groin. I get why he thinks that matters (i.e., it's not the issue that he started with that caused the problem), but he's missing the fact that the issue he started with should have been sufficient to have a plan B. It's ultimately irrelevant why Gano had to leave. The events pre-game were sufficient to warrant there being another kicker on the roster.
