Is our salary cap so bad?
Is Schoen that cheap he didn't want to elevate and pay the guy?
Talkin' Giants mentioned we were at 51 players on the roster. I understand it as 52 but whatever, with a known injured Gano during practice and a hobbled punt returner why can't we add those guys? Gano is toast for at least a month-did he hide the hammie injury? As I understand it too, everyone knew Gano was gymp'ed out
The bigger issue is not elevating/signing someone as insurance for a player coming into the game with an injury.

this.
the 53 move was ancillary, they could have used it to sign 1 of the ST guys they elevated from PS who is running out of elevations, then used the extra elevation from PS for the kicker.
having 3 or 4 or 5 gameday inactives doesn't matter - the active players do.
And if I'm the NFL I'd allow it since you don't really want games like yesterday's to happen. It takes away from the competitive nature of the game, IMO.

But if Gano was good to go in warmups, wouldn’t this player have been inactive anyway?

not as big a deal as people are making it out to be. You have to create an inactive list. All 53 players are not active on gameday.

They could have kept two kickers active just in case
Again, Gano appeared on the injury report on Saturday. The Giants knew he had an issue.
As soon as the reporters said Gano was struggling in warm-ups, this was predictable. As was the outcome of the game as soon as Gano was hurt.
Exactly. They could have given up one roster spot to keep an extra kicker active. For kickoffs and FG’s if Gano got worse.

Yeah, I mean they obviously thought Gano was fine and good to make it through the game. That’s why Daboll was so defensive and pointed to a separate injury. In their minds it would have meant activating a guy that wasn’t going to play. In hindsight of course they should have done that, but they would have looked dumb doing so if others got hurt and they needed another player.
Or maybe he's dumb, idk.
It's the Forrest Gump rule: "Stupid is as stupid does."
Right. And it's not just because a 'jailbreak' KR could happen which necessitated Gano to get in on the action...but over and above that, everyone knows (and it has been discussed several times on BBI over the offseason) that the new KO rules mean that the kicking team needs to employ 'tacklers' such to the extent that it was speculated non-kickers may be called to handle kicking duties. So not only did we trot out a gimpy Gano to kick off, we exposed him to having to make a tackle, and worse, to chase down a sure TD. Idiots.

Damn it... I was going to use that line on the podcast tonight. You guys keep stealing my thunder! ;)
It seems everyone but the coach sees this connection.
That's how you say it without saying it.
You make them think it.
