“Yeah, I’m interested in coaching,” Gruden told CBS. “My dad was a college coach, I was a college coach at Pitt, my wife was a cheerleader at Tennessee when I met her. Hell yeah, I’m interested in coaching. I know I can help a team, I know I can help young players get better, and I know I can hire a good staff, and that’s the only thing I can guarantee. But yeah, I’m very interested in coaching at any level, period.” |
That rules out the Giants. Dammit.
That’s your takeaway?
Why?

said in his private emails to Bruce Allen, but the league/Goodell put a bounty on Gruden and definitely leaked those emails to drive him out of the league.
Why?
Maybe because he knows where the bodies are buried?
I can't believe that people weren't all up in arms over it.
Maybe enough time has passed where the NFL will let him back in...if he's learned his lesson.
Marv Albert, etc. the list goes on!
So if Gruden can turn this franchise around and work with a rookie QB we draft this spring?????

Meh. His record says otherwise.

His record is better than any of the last 4 coaches that were hired. He has 2 super bowl appearances, 1 Lombardi trophy. If the Giants make a change at HC, I'd be very interested in him
Post superbowl, he has just as many 10+ win seasons as Brian Daboll does.
Yeah, he did win a Superbowl but that was in 2002.
This is right. Disappointing because Gruden was a good head coach. Hard to believe he self-destructed the way he did. No way he gets an opportunity here.
5 playoff appearances
1 SB Victory
2 AFC Championship games (out of the 5 appearances)
His last 3 seasons in Oak/LV he took a 4-12 team and had them at 8-8 two seasons later. Then he resigned, but once again he was building a team into a winner.
Plus lets not forget he won the SB with Dilfer, not Brady, etc.

This is true but check out his last six full seasons of coaching.
2006: 4-12
2007: 9-7
2008: 9-7
(Huge gap)
2018: 4-12
2019: 7-9
2020: 8-8
Screams average to me. This is a guy we think will resurrect this franchise? Not to mention, he’s been out of the league for several years now.

Because he shit all over Goodell. It's clear as day that Goodell put that hit out on him. See the link

Dilfer won with Baltimore. Brad Johnson is same difference though so point taken.

Brainfart there, can't believe I got that confused. Oh well, they are the same in my mind
Definitely. They wanted a few scalps, and Gruden’s emails were an easy target. That said, I wouldn’t go anywhere near him. A very good offensive coach back in the day, but those days are long past.
