Am I delusional? Is there a chance? First Place NFC East

KingBlue : 10:58 am
Can the New York Football Giants be tied for first in the NFC East later today?

Week 3 schedule:

The Eagles are at the high-flying New Orleans Saints.

The Cowboys host a desperate 0-2 Baltimore Ravens team expected to be a Super Bowl contender.

The Commanders travel to face the Cincinnati Bengals.

Those three games could all easily be losses for the NFC East teams.

Am I crazy? Because that is what I'm rooting for today.

Go Big Blue!!! Beat the Browns! Take control of your destiny!!
Well

You're not exactly paying attention to how the Giants have played so far, but it's your right to do you. The organization rolls the same way, despite the shit sammich every week and season.
Not unreasonable.
CV36 : 11:01 am : link
Would be nice to win a game and the rest are f the division lose.
Very possible
Reale01 : 11:02 am : link
Four things must happen and arguably the least likely is the Giants beating the Browns.

Well, I guess it is what it is... That's what I'm pulling for today.
hope for the best

but expect the worst. watson has been terrible though and his OTs are banged up/1 out.

8 sacks, 2 ints, 1 fumble on the year with just 1 td. averaging just 4.5 y/a and a 25% success rate.

for context that's all worse than jones.

Which pretty much guarantees them a win. Sorry but that's how the Giants roll. Hope I m wrong.
First place? First place?

I just hope we can win a game.

The Giants can win this game. -- They can also get crushed.
With the current state of the Giants,

Yes you’re delusional.
Yes, you're delusional.
Roto_Wizard : 11:28 am : link
Not with how this team looks and is playing.
You can’t be 0-3….
thrunthrublue : 11:49 am : link
Unless you are 0-2.

Nail on head. Our front office seems to view the team like many of the most optimistic of the fan base do - things that have gone wrong are bound to get better, and things that worked are likely to continue that way.

It hasn’t worked for a decade, but hey, maybe this year it will!

I think Mara is desperate for stability & some late season meaningless wins will be all he needs to roll the operation back.

Agree with this. He is looking for a reason to keep them, not whether they are the best guys for the job.

Feel better SF!
Right on cue

The gloom and doom police start chiming in to denigrate the team and make sure they toss their endless supply of wet blankets.

Of course there's a chance, and maybe even a good chance. Game 3 is where teams start showing their colors.

That said, if we get spanked, the gloom and wet blankets are warranted from here on out.
No, you are not delusional
Eightshamrocks : 12:11 pm : link
This team would be 1-1 if the kicker hadn't gotten hurt. And that is with the defense playing as poorly as they did. Imagine if the defense had played well? It would have been a Giants win by two plus TD's. But of course, as usual this place is doom and gloom. The Giants are going to win today, period. This is the Jim Fassel moment-Daboll is putting all his chips in the middle of the table.

11.5% of teams since 1990 that started 0-2 did not make the playoffs. Only 14 teams out of 140 since 2007.

The Giants themselves are 0-8 at making the playoffs after starting 0-2
That’s why people are already there.
It's amazing to me to watch folks clutch their pearls
j_rud : 12:21 pm : link
and whine about denigrating the team, or to watch someone assert the team would be fine if not for a half dozen "ifs", and to look down their noses at others while they do it.

Have a medium Pepsi on me, it'll help get the taste of Mara's Allbirds off your tongue.

The Giants started 0-2 in 2007 and won the SB. So, incorrect.

After the Vikings lost, the whole team deserved all the criticism it got. That was not the case last week. The Giants as a team played well enough to win, if not for a freak injury to their kicker. There was a big difference in the way they lost.
A freak injury to an already injured kicker.
j_rud : 12:49 pm : link
Also, can you share with me how many punts the defense forced on that rookie-led offense?
If the Giants win...
Jim in Tampa : 12:49 pm : link
and their 3 NFC East rivals all lose, wouldn't the Giants also be tied for last place?

;>)
That would mean all that happening and us beating Dallas on Thursday
Burst Bubble 25 : 12:55 pm : link
Considering we just lost to the Commanders.

I can actually see all that happening this week, giving us a sliver of hope, until it's crushed in 4 days...that would be par for the course. Who knows though, if it does, we have a significant opportunity for the regime to turn perspective around on them in 4 days time.
Reminds me of one of the most famous rants in sports history

"Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs?! I just hope we can win a game"
Saints couldn't score!
SGMen : 4:42 pm : link
If the Giants beat Dallas at home they are right back in the thick of things despite the two opening losses.

The loss to the Vikings doesn't look bad now that they are 3-0 and clearly a force. The Commanders loss is the tough one as Daboll cost us with the kicker and the run defense was gouged.

Bullshit. Saw the Giants 0-2, down 17-0 at the half against Washington in the third game of the year, and they went on to win the SB, so again, I say Bullshit.
