But, even then, his struggles to connect downfield limit what the offense can do.
Second half, he struggled quite a bit.
The second half defense missed a lot of tackles but got stops at the end when they needed them. Don’t know why they seemed to stop blitzing when it was so effective in the first half.
Played better 2nd half.
They had Ward follow Nabers. That combined with being backed up most of the 2nd half (after the Singlterry fumble) AND the defense controlling the game had Daboll be more conservative than we would like.
That’s called “don’t beat yourself”. Its proper coaching.
RE: RE: Papa and Banks were questioning Singletary...
...then they realized why he gave himself up. It was exactly the right play, and it reflected the situational awareness that was always an unfortunate hole in Barkley's game.
3 times 40 = 2 minutes
Anyone questioning it is wrong
One way is a certain win. The other way is a probable win. It isn’t splitting hairs. Giving himself on the 1 was the correct decision. Great heads up play - the kind Barkley wasn’t ever smart enough to do.
They also spared the defense another two-minute drive, and the attendant risk of injury and fatigue, with a huge Thursday game upcoming.
Sure, a touchdown probably puts the game out of reach. But sliding also rewards the defense for winning the game when the offense was sputtering.
The staff probably instructed the offense to go down if they got a first down. I doubt anyone envisioned having to make that decision at the 1 yard line, but it was still a good decision.
Very good point...I honestly thought it was 50/50 until you made this specific one....something I bet the data doesn't even take into account yet tbh
Against a good team on the road. So much to build on .
The team has gotten better every week
Browns offensive line was a walking M.A.S.H. unit. How about we wait until we play the Cowboys. In the meantime, the Giants almost undid all their accomplishments from the first half including Daniel Jones reverting to form.
Offense played fine, and really nice 1st half followed by a very conservative 2nd half.
I think that is how we should expect DJ to play. He wasn't great, and did make mistakes, but he was functional and didn't turn the ball over. He took what was there, that is all we need and all we should expect.
been saying it all offseason even after 2 rough games, Burns, Thibs and Dex wrecked the game..
Offensicely Nabers is an absolute stud, Jones had a good first half, 2nd half was a little rough missed aome easy throws..
Game really should of been a bigger blowout but a win is a win
Listen, you gotta take the good with bad with Wandale...he still has a lot to learn at the position...but he also has literally no catch radius...that a completion to practically any one else in NFL...it was a giant question mark when he came out...and we see it playing out a lot
If Jones hits that deep ball to nabers this game is a walk in the park
I felt the same way but when you look at the miss throws- we should/ could have been up more.
My issue is he has a bag of tools and chooses to use one exclusively- pray nothing happens!🤞🙏.
Dallas will shut down Nabors - we need the other receivers to be ready.
The Giants priced they can beat a quality team, wobbled, but didn’t shot the bed and came within a couple of plays of winning on a route. If you can’t be happy with this progress, I genuinely feel sorry for you.
RE: TTH: It's not just that sliding ices the game.

I don’t want Schoen and Daboll to fail here, in fact I still like both and really found myself really hoping they would hold on. As much as I talk about a regime change, i’d rather these guys figure it out. Tired of the train wreck, slow Greek tragedy death our HC’s have been on.
A lot of good things they can build on today. At least for another week they have a meaningful game to play. Get to 2-2 and go from there.
If they expect him to shut down Lamb next week they are screwed.
help him.
I agree, but I also think this a matchup league...better match up for him next week...Cooper exposed all his flaws with his strength...Banks just doesn't play the ball well...not really an issue against CeeDee

I mentioned in the game thread that Daboll was also responsible for that miss. We need a couple of play calls that would have gotten Joseph closer. Instead, we punted at 3rd and 11.

Injury risk was everything there.
Yeah I actually agree, not that was going through his head.
The reality is we have a guy that listens to the coaches in a selfless way...it's good to see. First down go down where the instructions.
And reality next time he needs to negotiate a deal, they'll point right to that play
moving Nabers around makes it a lot harder. Dallas doesn’t have a Ward to follow him with. They owe the Cowboys from last year. Let’s see them come out and smack Dallas in the mouth. The Saints showed they are NOT a mentally tough team.

had a good game. Garrett is great DE, but Thomas had a tough time.
MG is the best DE in football, he is a better player then AT. And that is ok, AT held up and did what he had to do to not let MG wreck the game. They are both Elite players.
I don't think they went too conservative in the 2nd half

He made enough plays to win, and made enough mistakes to lose. Even if the negated interception wasn't on Jones (looked like Johnson might have pulled pulled an Evan Engram), it's safe to say Jones needs to play better to give NYG a chance on Thursday; but he has shown enough the last two weeks to at least allow room for hope.
all year with an injury that almost cost him his season. He won’t be 100% all year (according to the Dallas media). Let him try and travel. If he was healthy, I would agree.
K couldnt make a basic 47 yarder
Gray is not a PR nad hes not a PR, stop shoehorning him holy shit.
its costing them a lot.
If it's not clear at this point...Daboll doesn't give a shit about special teams ..that much is clear.

Well titled user name?
At the very least, Bowen showed that he's willing to be flexible about it.

QB was good
Defense was great the whole game

How do you root against anyone on this team to perform poorly.
i thought the gap control was great.
just missed tackling was the reason for any real gain from teh browns on the ground and from watson.

I'll start enjoying these once they win 3 or 4 in a row. We've seen these types of wins from them every single year. It means nothing to me now.

You were in the game thread, so clearly it meant something.
I wanted to see Singletary score. Being selfish honestly. I wanted to see 28-15 with the Giants sealing it with an emphatic TD.
Glad we won. The defense played well. 8 sacks. Gave up 2 TDs total in 2 games.
