In real time, sure its fair to be frustrated with some of his missed throws. I expect it at this point and the offensive staff should too. The 8 minute drive, to me, exemplified what this offensive identity should be. Daboll falls in love too often with shotgun and thats not who Jones is. He’s too reliant on rhythm.
The longer they stay in shotgun with him and just go pure pass with no PA the more worried I get. He just seems more comfortable under center with adequate PA mixed in. Hard to stick with this when you fall behind but today they didn’t. To be fair I don’t have numbers backing up my assertion, just the eye test. Too often when they go gun they fall behind the sticks.
feelings. Aside from the opening play, the first half was a dominant performance. The offense and defense were killing it.
But the offense basically did nothing in the second half. Couldn't move the ball at all. Jones missed some throws to Nabers and Robinson that would have produced a TD or extended a drive. Singletary fumbled. The defense also missed a lot of tackles in the second half.
Daboll's decision to run Singletary into the LOS on first and second down after the Browns fumble nearly cost us the game. We just signed Joseph off the street. Asking him to make a 48 yard FG was unnecessary. As someone on the game thread said, a screen would have been a good safe play in that situation.
Too many penalties, especially offsides.
Felt overall like we kept an overmatched Browns team in the game when we should have ended it by the middle of the third quarter.
Yes, the play calling in that drive was horrendous.
The win was fun, no question. But so is having a milkshake when you have been eating right and working hard to lose weight.
I want to see real progress from this team, and I did see that from the defense today. Watching Nabers is flat out fun. The hope is that this is not an empty calories win that only means the QB we want in the draft next year to truly make this team competitive winds up going somewhere else.
You want him on the field because he makes plays, on a defense that needs difference-makers. But good God, how does a linebacker get to this stage of a career tackling as badly as he does? He doesn't just miss. He misses like a badly-coached college sophomore. The fundamentals are just awful.

He's a specialist in costume as a full time player.
We need more then Nabers at WR. Good teams will limit him and someone else must step up.
So here is to hoping that Hyatt develops and / or Slayton heals up quickly. Lets also hope these recent Singletary fumbles don't continue cause he is otherwise a playmaker.
On a short week, at home, we have a shot to win IF we can win the turnover battle.
I don't normally appreciate the negative comments on game day threads.
But having said that I remember the "losing years" when in those games the NYG managed an early lead, and out of an "abundance of caution" they took their foot off the gas and let the other team back in.
Thankfully they hung on.
Sexy Dex comes through again!
Sorry for the omission, Christian might have as well. A few others did. What pisses me off is this team should be 2-1 with an opportunity at what appears to be a lesser Dallas team than years past.
But you are your record. I think they can beat Dallas. Run the ball, mix in some PA, control clock to spare the defense. Keep the pass rush fresh.
I don't get it at all.
How do you root against anyone on this team to perform poorly.
That's not hard to understand. They want the team to be so bad that Mara can't keep sticking his head in the sand anymore, no more "We're Back" because we won 9 games and eked out a WC berth, only to be embarrassed when we finally faced an actual, honest-to-God good football team. A lot of changes still need to be made.

Nabers 8 catches for 78 yds 2 TDS 12 targets
Robinson 7 for 61 yds 8 targets once they tried to take Nabers away Robinson got more involved

No worries...this team isn't as bad as people think. Jones played well, but they Mohave stepped on their necks early in the second half and both he and Daboll came up a little small. Two or three more completions by Jones and a little more creativity from Dabs would have mad it easier, IMHO. Can't play not to lose. Especially on Thursday. The Cowboys are not the Browns.
Browns adjusted in the second half by using Ward on Nabers. I'm frankly not sure why they weren't doing that from the beginning of the game, but at least the started to do it after halftime. They also went right after Banks most times when he was in single coverage, not only with Cooper, but even after he went out, to Tillman. Tillman just dropped a great throw by Watson on fourth down.
But the lack of a quality TE really hampers this offense.
T. Johnson, the rookie, he has raw skills and I'm hoping as the season moves along he continues to be used more and more in the redzone offense and that short turn around stuff. He is a big body and a decent blocker already.
He seemed for the most part to be in great position on many of the completions he gave up like the first TD, as well as a couple of plays late to Cooper and then Cleveland’s 4th down play on their last drive. But his ball awareness is terrible. If he can start getting his head around where he could play the ball, he is position to start breaking up some of these passes. And yes, I know they 4th down play was not complete, but that was a drop.
RE: i do think this is the best game the giants had at screen/te screen
did daboll crack teh code?
eli couldnt run one to save his life.
maybe in 20 years.
Great post. The 2nd quarter drive was beautiful. They churned clock and the screens went for some big plays but also kept them ahead of the sticks. I watched the drive and said “this is what this team should be focusing on”
Now with that said, screens really work well against Schwartz’s aggressive scheme and the DE’s wide 9 alignment.

He's hurt and on a snap count...they threw that out
Bellinger needs to be the starting TE....Johnson was brutal today
Hung on for the win, but they didn't crumble and hand it over to the Brownies. A good win, and now what so they have at home for Dallas. Pivot #1 for the 2024 season.
Health permitting, they aren’t a 2-4 win team imo. Probably not a playoff team either, and you could argue whats best for them long term but I’d love a 7-8 win season and this regime giving us some reassurance. Part of me wants a new regime again but thats so tiresome at this point.
I don't get it at all.
How do you root against anyone on this team to perform poorly.

Here is a crazy thought you are wrong about the Giants and the front office and they play well the rest of the season and this a momentum changing win . Maybe they only win 8 or 9 games but you can see the talent shift.
I don't get it at all.
How do you root against anyone on this team to perform poorly.
You’re mistaking a hatred for perpetual losing and not accepting mediocrity for “fans wanting to lose”. It’s actually the opposite. Fans “don’t want to lose” but badly want to return to greatness or at least consistent competitiveness and will gladly trade a meaningless win to achieve it. They realize that won’t happen if Johnny witnesses false hope. This team badly needs a professional QB and possibly a coach with a bit of common sense.
This was the pivot point. 1-2 vs 0-3 heading into Dallas was a huge difference. The noise quiets down and NYG has a real chance to stabilize the season.
I think this game Thursday will determine what this season is. If they want to change the fortune here, go beat a team that you are 0-6 against in the last three seasons. A team you got smoked by twice last season.

How can you say with certainty that any win is a meaningless win?
But to root against wins is a miserable way of fandom.
Banks needs to turn around
Start Hyatt over Slayton
Daboll, what was that playcalling setting up for the field goal? We all saw that missed kick coming from a mile away.
Jones for the love of God hit a deep pass

They did enough to win despite those things today, but they absolutely must get fixed.
I wanted to see Singletary score. Being selfish honestly. I wanted to see 28-15 with the Giants sealing it with an emphatic TD.
Same here, I was a little annoyed. Smart play but this has been a woeful offense - scoring four TDs woulda been nice.

its costing them a lot.
Daboll doesn’t respect special teams
Maybe the players should just fucking do their jobs better.
If you cannot find a kicker to make that FG, it's your fault.
The Giants faced on 3rd down in the second half after they fumbled their 1st possession
9, 15, 16, 12, 8, 14
Was there any doubt the new PK was going to miss that FG
They have to take this momentum to Thursday and do something with it

Commenting on every thread is exaggerating. I am not upset, just indifferent.
I hope Bowen keeps the aggression up.

We could use Aaron Thomas

Good to see the NYG outcoach a team…
Also the first time in a while

Yes he was, he was in on a lot of plays. He’s getting more time than I expected, I wonder if at times they want his run defense in there
Credit where due, Thibs made a huge play on the late 4th down, but he’s been a blocking dummy at times
Azeez, Burns and Thibs all had great games rushing the passer
They were definitely a negative today. Would love to see some more TE screens set up. Keep it simple with them

He gets his work done blocking, that's why he's out there. It shouldn't change next week, for sure.
