When does all the crap against Dallas end?

M.S. : 9/22/2024 7:55 pm
Past seven seasons the Cowboys are 13-1 against the lowly Giants. In those games, Dallas has averaged over 31 points a game while surrendering only 17. So, what will it take to avoid another beat down this Thursday?

Last season, the Giants were humiliated 40-0 at home and 49-17 in Dallas, allowing 12 sacks while accruing none. The good news is that our offensive line is so much better so I expect to see Daniel Jones on the ground less often. And our pass rush appears to be much improved so maybe Dak Presctt gets to say hello to the turf at least once or twice.

In the end, I think it comes down to Daniel Jones. No. It's not about him elevating his game and carrying the team to victory. That ain't gonna happen. What he must do, however, is throw accurately to open receivers. There'll be opportunities down the field. He needs to stick the ball on his WRs. But if the errant long passes continue, 1-14.
Really?

It won't end until he's gone, and I'm not a hater.

I’d say it’s about time we landed a punch, right?

40-0 last season is still fresh in my mind - hope this team comes out fighting and sends Dallas back home with a 1-3 record.
ok, I'm on a negative roll., lol

It'll be tough.

Dallas is playing for their season.
Hmmm...
DefenseWins : 9/22/2024 8:19 pm : link
Maybe, just MAYBE it has something to do with Dallas having a dominant D line for years while we have had the worst OL in football.

Put those two puzzle pieces together and then tell me what the picture looks like.

WTF is wrong with people?

drive against DAL on opening day last year I thought, wow, maybe this nightmare is over. The Giants were driving, moving the chains, some designed runs for Jones, Barkley, a couple passes. they looked like they had a plan on offense and were executing.

then third down came (3rd and short) in the red zone. False start, fumbled snap, blocked FG returned for a TD.

that showed how fragile that team really was. slightest adversity and they packed it in. I don't even think they passed midfield again.

I still don't think the Giants are there yet, but seeing them respond better this week to adversity with that debacle to start the game was a positive. Just need more positives.

In short, I think the gap probably closed a little between the two teams in terms of talent, but Dallas is still better, so it will come down to execution. that hasn't been the Giants strong suit these past few years. We will see.

They dominated our lines for years. Dallas looks to be weaker than previous years and our line has looked the best it has in over a decade. Maybe, just maybe we steal a win
Dallas, particularly their D
Jerry in_DC : 9/22/2024 8:30 pm : link
Has been a team that murders weak opponents. Their high end talent will destroy a bad offense especially a bad OL and a shaky QB.

Our OL is better now and their D is struggling. It is possible we could play them closer than usual. But not being explosive at all on O makes things really hard for us. We need a lot of consecutive things to go right to generate points.
Won’t be easy

We aren’t good in prime time
Jones is terrible in night games
Jones doesn’t play as well at home.
They own us.
If we can't get one this year...
bw in dc : 9/22/2024 8:36 pm : link
it will be a huge, missed opportunity.

Dallas is not a very good team right now. In fact, I think there is a real good chance they are not a playoff team this year.

That defensive front seven is soft and their OL is a big TBD.

I hear ya... It won't be easy! My sense is the O-line and our WRs will provide Daniel Jones with a few key opportunities, and he just has to capitalize on them!

I don't think they are playing for their season...1-3 for that team is not insurmountable and I think there is a good chance they leave here 1-3....it is time, and they are not un-beatable

I disagree.

If DAL loses, there will be calls for MM's head, and with a 10-day break it isnt implausible that Jerry cans him.

And 1-3 could become 1-6 really quickly, with their next three games @PIT, vs. DET and @SF.

This is a must-win for the Cowboys.
Also . . .

Thursday Gameplan - ( New Window )
Dallas
stretch234 : 9/23/2024 5:44 am : link
It goes way beyond Jones. Martin helps neutralize Dex almost every game. They don’t pressure Dak at all and generally can’t stop the run. Dak will find the TE wide open in the middle

Has the offensive line blocked anyone on Dallas successfully. They have not needed to rush more than 4 against the Giants.

This is the matchup I least look forward to. I also expect something crazy to happen against the Giants with the Cowboys

So far this season Dallas has been horrid running the ball and stopping the rush. They have gained only 229 yards on the ground (29th), averaging 3.6 YPC (29th). It gets even worse for their defense -- dead last in rushing yards (557) and YPC (5.4). Somehow, someway, the Giants have to keep Dallas "running" in the wrong direction.
Win this Thursday or it's more of the same

Time for road and home QBs!
When the Giants
Lines of Scrimmage : 9/23/2024 7:49 am : link
can compete favorably at the line of scrimmage. Dallas is starting some new OL and thus far the run game is really poor (3.6ypc) with low carries. Then on D, teams are running all over them.

They are looking a little like a lot of the Giants teams the past ten plus years. Be very disappointing not to get a win being a Thursday night game at home.

Start a new QB next week
