Torres is a dumbass, but the 3rd base coach standing right there is just as stupid. How do you let Torres do that? Judge is coming up and you get yourself thrown out at third?
and the crowd boos him off the field. Pretty obvious the fans are fed up about LF.
Should have had him bunt
That DP was as predictable as the sun rising in the east tomorrow
And when that sun rises shortly, I hope the new day brings the end of Verdugo being anything but bench depth and late inning defense.
I'd rather see Grisham at the plate than Verdugo with RISP. How bad is that? October's here. It's time to get Verdugo's ass off the grass and on the pine.
let’s go ahead and run into the 3rd out and take the bat out of Judge’s hands
Dummies
No question once he was held up it was a dumb move to try and score but honestly I was surprised he was held up in the first place. He had a great secondary lead and fantastic jump on Soto’s hit. I thought for sure he was going to be waved home and score, regardless of there being two outs and Judge coming up.
Both the Prime announcers were surprised he was held as well. They both also felt if both he and Soto held their bases, Judge would’ve been walked no matter what. I agree with that take as well.
With Verdugo failing and Spencer Jones having an unimpressive year in AA, they don't have the pieces to push GS out of the lineup.
Verdugo was a 1 year rental while Dominguez recovered from TJS.
I also know GS will be DH next year. He does have value. 26 hrs and 68 rbis are still good stats.

I’m hoping we see the usual Playoff Stanton once the post season starts. Hes been a good playoff performer for the Yanks.
I remain mystified by Tim Mayza's presence on the roster
He was horrific in Toronto. I don't get it, but he must have some measurables, like spin rate, that they thought they could work with. So far he is bad. Tonkin was far better.

Yankees had their eye on Verdugo for a while. There were rumors at the 2023 trade deadline that Cashman had pursued trading Torres for him.
The package of pitchers Yanks ultimately gave up for Verdugo included a good prospect (Fitts) who has now started three games for the Sox without giving up a run, one of those at YS.
Yanks hoped for more from Verdugo and he had a chance to make himself indispensable. Hasn't done it.
As for GS, if you "know" he will be back, then I don't understand your post from 10:25 pm last evening.

It is not really that hard. I would prefer they move on from GS, as much as I like him. Yes, he can and does get hot. But mostly guess and swings wildly at balls far out of the strike zone.
I also know with 3 or 4 years left at $25+mill per, no way Cashman eats $100 mill. So he will be back.
Get used to it folks, Holmes is gonna pitch us right into the off season. Boone is adamant that he's gonna keep sending him out there in big spots. They have a real blind spot with him. They turned a bum into one of the elite RPs in baseball for a year and a half and they can't bring themselves to realize that the power sinker is gone and he's cooked.
I am so tired of his mindless behavior over the course of a season.
Everyone watching knew he wasn’t scoring on a hit. Perfect time for a pinch runner and Boone passes on it.
Then Boone pitch hits for Volpe. Can’t ever remember Jeter getting pitch hit for in a clutch situation. Now you know that’s in Volpe’s head. He looked like he was ready to cry along the bench.

Your intentions are good but... You don't pull the starting 2nd baseman in the 7th inning for a slightly faster pinch runner. That ball that Soto hit was crushed, I sort of doubt Berti is sent with Judge on deck.
I didn't have trouble with Dominguez PHing in that spot. I also doubt it lingers with Volpe except to make him work on his hitting more.

I know BBI hates bunts, but I would have had Verdugo bunt there.
Boone has to stop with trying to straighten people out. It is too late in the season to be hoping this guy figures it out.
Verdugo has now made nine outs in his last seven plate appearances
Not sure what school of managing Boone is coming from. I'll admit to being an old fart but some things in baseball are obvious.
And now Leiter.
Let’s go Soto.
Torres is a dumbass, but the 3rd base coach standing right there is just as stupid. How do you let Torres do that? Judge is coming up and you get yourself thrown out at third?
Torres had no reason to go. Period
Soto assumed Gleyber was going & took off for second
Gleyber just took off for home for no reason whatsoever
Dummies
Hamilton is usually good, but Leiter and Mayza are terrible and everyone knows it.
He is another one I hope they decide to walk away from in the off season.

Me too.
I'd like to see what Clayton Beeter can do. He missed a lot of the season but pitched well in Scranton when he came back.
