Does anyone else despise the constant survey emails after buying something at a store? It seems you get asked to provide feedback every time you walk into a store, or even doctor's office.
I just bought a box of golf balls at Dicks and today a survey shows up. I was in the store 2 minutes. The questions asked were mostly irrelevant.
Do these places really learn anything from surveys, especially from single item purchases with no personal interactions except for the cashier?
Just a mid-morning rant...
Do the companies learn anything from your specific singular survey answers?
Not really.
Do the surveys provide meaningful insights in the aggregate?
Yes, generally.
I really don't believe in leaving negative reviews - there is a risk in that. I follow the advice ..."if you don't have something good to say, don't say it". Most negative reviews come off sounding like someone was having a bad day or just being "crabby" for the sake of being spiteful.
Every time I go to a car wash "Would you like to subscribe? You would save 50% on a car wash if you get it washed more than 3 times a month!"
Would you like to leave a tip for fast food service? Fuck no!
Leave me the fuck alone
Do they get something out of it.
Sometimes, they do, if they are doing it for the right reasons.
Most of the time, these surveys are a way for the execs to quantify service. Execs like to put numbers to things, so they can rank stores, associates, etc.
If I don't have much to say, I don't answer.
And then get an email AND A TEXT asking how my interaction was with customer service 😂
Also how the hell am I going to answer whether or not I am satisfied when I won't know if I am or not for several days or longer. I was once called by a company to see if I was satisfied with the service that their sub-contractor provided when I hadn't even heard from their sub yet. I don't do business with them any more either.
Speaking as a retired management professional, this kind of bullshit has zero real value for any company.
And none of my phones have ever been used for the web...do so and you expose yourself.
Guess it is a get of my lawn moment or old man screaming at clouds.
People expect good service/products so when they get it, it's not a big deal.
When they don't get it, then they want to rant and they are usually hoping that the company will do something to appease them.
