Incremental improvement key to beating Dallas tomorrow

Stars_and_stripes : 9/25/2024 11:17 pm
In no way guaranteeing a Giants win BUT each week this young team has incrementally improved.

Week 1. O and D both sucked. A contrite post game Daboll said essentially its on me and strongly hinted at adjustments. Which he then would deliver on.

Week 2. O was excellent on a per possession basis but was severely hampered by no K. D played horribly conservative with too many big cushions and soft zones in the passing game. However, as their game vs the Bengals showed Washington may be a better offense under Klingsberry than we were giving them credit for.

Week 3. The closest to a complete game by both units yet. The game-plan was greatly adjusted on Defense as well and we responded by a historic day of pressure on an opposing offense. While the D in the first two weeks reminded me of Tim Lewis, the energy level that the D played with reminded me of the prime Spags days. Daboll was one step ahead of Schwartz for the entire first half and if DJs deep ball was a little better we would have exposed them in the 2nd half too. A missed Joseph FG didn't help matters either. But also, with the game on the line our OL busted Singletary for a huge gain that easily would have brought us to 28 pts had he not strategically fell down at the 1.

Last week was the closest to both offense and defense showing up for most of a game.

This Cowboy team has a downgrade at RB, OL and a what looks like a big downgrade at DC. They are not quite the Cowboy teams of yesteryear.

We will most definitely need to outcoach the Cowboys tomorrow just as we did Cleveland if we hope to win but if we continue the incremental improvement both from a coaching and player standpoint we have a pretty good chance to surprise in my estimation.
if the Giants can

bottle up CeeDee Lamb with the current secondary, I will have a ton more respect for the coaching staff. It's a long shot but possible.
I don't know

but I have a feeling that the Browns aren't as good as people thought they would be. The Giants also caught them with injuries on the OL and their main RB. So, a win this week will show that the Giants are improving. If they get blown out again, then the Browns game was, more than likely, beating a not-so-good team.

+1. The combo of Watson and their beat-up line gives them the worst offense in the nfl (though their D is really, really good). I’m glad our D dominated them but we’ll not face an offense anywhere near that bad again. We need to be way better than what we’ve shown to slow down the Dal O.

Giants have been destroyed on O by other teams D if they go full attack on the LOS.

The most encouraging thing is Cleveland tried to so the same thing and we beat the heat with Nabers, WanDale and a bunch of outlet throws to the RB releasing out in areas of light defense due to the heavy blitzing

This game could be another disaster or it could be more strong pass rush high energy D like we saw at Cleveland. LOVED their energy and compete level vs Cleveland . Who wouldn't?

Browns Defense is still most definitely legimate and they brought the heat all game. DJ was pressured a bunch but Dabes called a good game and DJ executed on it.

Dallas is not the same team either. They are downgraded in multiple spots:

-OL
-RB
-Secondary is missing their 2nd and 3rd starters (like us)
-Quinn vs Zimmer also could be a big difference

If we call as good a game offensively and defensively like we did Cleveland, we have a pretty good shot to come out victorious.
